Valerie eventually took Anya to school, even though half the day was already gone. Before leaving, Anya made sure to grab Dominic's hand and say, "Uncle Dominic, you'll pick me up later, right?"The way she said it left no room for refusal. Dominic just smiled and nodded. "Of course, princess."
Once they left, Elena turned to Carl. "Come on, let me show you around."
Dominic, still lounging by the counter, immediately straightened. "I'll come too…..I know him better ."
"And he's my brother ….stay ."Elena didn't even let him finish. Her tone was sharp, final.
Carl smirked, eyes glinting. "Yeah, Dom. Don't worry, I'll keep your wife company."
Dominic narrowed his eyes, but before he could reply, Elena was already pulling Carl toward the door.
"Behave," she warned over her shoulder.
As they left, Dominic huffed, grabbed his car keys, and muttered, "Like hell I'm sitting here."
