Chapter 152 - Cap.139 - The power of Luck.

Ames and Ringo played several games of Wayne Cards. Since Ringo couldn't leave Ames' body, he used the clone to play, both using the Floating Dragon Deck. But to Ringo's surprise, he won them all!

What does this mean? It means his luck is greater than Ames'!

For the first time, Ringo discovered how terrible his own luck was, but he was confused by not being like Feidin, having chance encounters everywhere. Until he stopped.

Wait... he got a spaceship as soon as he arrived in the galaxy, became a member of the Floating Dragon, has Ames as a supporter, acquired a top-of-the-line Grade A weapon, found good subordinates, created a magic crystal industry with the Xenomorphs and even managed to get millions of Enas just for making some simple potions, despite some difficulties along the way, it seems he is... really lucky?

For a moment, Ringo paused, doubting life itself. Why was he the last to realize his own fate?

He hasn't quite reached Feidin's level of winning good things when he goes out for a walk, but when he tries to do something, it usually ends up working out, even when it goes wrong, he still comes out ahead?

Ringo stared at the cards for a long moment, lost in thought, oblivious to Ames' increasingly irritated gaze, his eyes seemingly intent on crushing Ringo into a paste of meat.

Ringo finally realized he was a lucky child and cheered up, only to look at Ames with a cheeky grin. Ames thought Ringo was mocking her, so...

Boom~

Ringo's clone groaned in pain as he struggled to emerge from the crumpled metal wall, feeling the heavy damage. He looked at Ames with difficulty and confusion, only to receive a furious glare from the woman as she floated in the air, slowly approaching.

Ringo, who was inside Ames mind, finally realized the situation and quickly explained before Ames could attack again. - Wait, it's not what you think, I just found a way to catch Aesop!

Ames stopped, her eyes narrowed. -Oh? And how would that be?

Her voice sounded calm, but Ringo knew she was angry, so he spoke quickly. - Luck!

Ames froze, her gaze shifting from annoyance to confusion for a moment. She felt a sense of déjà vu, why did Ringo always manage to leave her speechless? However, she was already used to Ringo's "craziness", so she simply waited for him to explain.

-These games were a test, testing my own luck. I already knew I was lucky before, but now I know my luck goes far beyond what I expected.- Ringo explained.

Ames looked confused and bewildered. -Luck? You believe luck will help us catch Aesop?

Ringo knew that most people in the galaxy didn't take luck seriously, after all, it was a very obscure and difficult attribute to quantify. But Ringo, who had read the original, knew how absurd the effects of luck could be.

Of course, explaining this to Ames would be difficult, so Ringo chose a clear example. - Do you know the Secret Master?

Ames paused for a moment, frowning and thinking, before speaking with some "confusion". - That guy from the galactic black market?

-Do you really know him?- Ringo asked, surprised. It was hard to believe that Ames would know someone by name, or in this case, nickname.

The woman simply wasn't interested in much, even other BGAs, she might only know a small fraction of them.

Ames scoffed slightly as he spoke. -I was invited to be a patron of the galactic black market back then, this guy came to talk to me.

This was unexpected, of course, the fact that Ames wasn't connected to any high-level civilization made her a suitable partner, so it made sense to invite her, but knowing Ames, she probably found it too troublesome and refused.

-I understand, in any case, the Secret Master is the best example of the luck attribute, his main ability is to diminish the luck of others and attack them through it. It's really problematic, but having your luck recognized by the Secret Master can even lead a nobody to be invited by one of the high-level civilizations, so the role of luck is evident.- Ringo explained.

He wasn't kidding, he had already researched it, he even wanted to meet the Secret Master and find out just how lucky he was.

-So what?- Ames asked, frowning. -What does luck have to do with meeting Aesop?

-You reached Grade S, which means your luck is very good, but I beat you at card games every time, which means my luck is even better than yours.- Ringo's clone explained.

He stood up as the evolutionary energy healed him, he went to the overturned table and put it back in place before going to get some metal cups, ten metal cups were placed on the table as Ringo turned to Ames.

-Turn around and don't peek.- He asked, and Ames rolled her eyes, but still turned around, if it helped, she'd be willing to try.

Ringo picked up a die and placed it on one of the glasses before starting to shuffle them.

-Alright, now you can turn around.- Ringo said, and Ames looked at the ten overturned cups. -I placed a die in one of them, without using your energy, choose three of the cups.

Ames looked at Ringo strangely, but in the end, nodded and pointed to three glasses.

Ringo lifted each glass, on the second, the die was found.

Ames still looked doubtful, glancing at Ringo. Ringo shrugged and kept repeating it. At first, Ames didn't take it seriously, but on the fifth try she frowned when she found the die.

By the tenth time, she seemed a little pensive.

On the seventeenth time she found the die without failing, she finally looked at Ringo with interested eyes.

-So... my luck is good enough to find a die showing three out of ten cups, so what? How is that going to get us to Aesop?- she asked, no longer annoyed, but hoping Ringo would have a good idea.

Ringo smiled, went to a drawer and took out a sealed deck of Wayne cards. There were 60 cards in there. He took a pen and marked the back of each one with a number without looking at what was on each card. Ames just watched with curiosity.

After Ringo placed all 60 cards face up on the table.

-There's only one card of yourself in this deck.- Ringo explained. -I have no idea what number it is, and neither do you. Now, without telling me, pick three cards. I'll do the same, just write it down on a piece of paper.

Ames didn't lose her patience, by that point, she was already believing him.

The two wrote down the numbers, choosing them randomly. When they finished, Ringo held out his hand and Ames handed him the paper. He glanced at it, smiled, and turned to her.

They both chose three numbers, but among the numbers chosen, only one was the same, the number 53.

Ringo went to the table and turned over card number 53, he turned the card over to Ames. - Ames, the Dragon Emperor.

Ames looked at her own card, slightly bewildered, glancing at the papers and then her eyes gleamed slightly. -So... if we apply this in practice, we just need to find a common point randomly, without following Aesop's clues!

-Exactly!- Ringo smiled.

Ames was stunned for a moment, if it had been half an hour ago, she might have thought herself stupid for relying on luck to find Aesop, but after seeing these "practical examples", her mindset took a sudden turn.

Instead of searching blindly, relying on something like luck is much more viable.

Ames looked at Ringo's smile, which she had previously thought was mocking her and a similar smile appeared on her face, followed by a soft laugh that cut through the air, she was excited.

At this point, even without finding Aesop in this way, at least... it would be interesting enough, with Ringo by her side, even if they fail this time, they would have a better chance of catching him next time.

If Ringo could hear Ames' thoughts, he would sigh, that father-daughter duo really likes to have fun.
