Cherreads

Chapter 17 - Insecure

After finishing all the chores in the empty house, such as cleaning the floor, sweeping the yard, and placing important items in the bedroom.

The important items were sleeping gear and a super cool, comfortable fan.

For a moment, they sat cross-legged, facing each other alone in the room.

Mitha felt shy and her mind was racing while facing Hella.

"What should I do? Ah.... Actually, I'm not very good at talking to guys. Plus, it's just the two of us, IN A ROOM AGAIN!!!"

Hella, who didn't understand what was going on with her, simply said,

"Why is your face red?"

"EH?! No, it's nothing."

"Hmm...."

"...."

Mitha just stayed silent, holding back her shyness, before Hella started a serious conversation with her.

"So, what's up? When can we start?"

"Huh?! Start? Oh right... Um..."

Hella, who didn't like beating around the bush, immediately scolded her.

"Just say it quickly!"

"Well... We haven't taken a bath in a few days, we better shower, and we haven't eaten yet either. Once we actually feel comfortable, then we can start. Honestly, I'm confused about what to do anyway."

"That's true too."

Mitha swallowed hard, still feeling nervous.

"Right, our business isn't even finished yet. We'd better finish that first."

"Yeah, yeah."

Hella stood up and walked out of the room.

"I'm going out for a bit, it's okay if I leave you here, right?"

"Y-yeah, it's fine."

Once Hella reached the bedroom door, with her next footsteps and beyond, she suddenly shifted to another place—Hella's own house.

Hella was in her house's kitchen, taking tempeh and tofu from the fridge. She cut them into small cubes and soaked them in a container filled with water, added some seasoning, and left them aside for a moment.

Hella turned on the stove, placed a pot, poured in cooking oil, followed by cracking a chicken egg into it. She quickly grabbed some rice from the rice cover (tudung) which was still warm and plentiful.

Pouring the rice into the pot with the egg, Hella stirred it until the egg was evenly mixed, then added seasoning, sweet soy sauce, and garlic oil.

After stirring it again, Hella grabbed three plates and served the fried rice onto them.

Next, she fried the previously soaked tempeh and tofu.

In the middle of her busyness, a little girl around three years old approached Hella in the kitchen.

"Papa?"

Hella looked back. It was a little girl with shoulder-length hair and chubby cheeks.

She was an abandoned child Hella had taken in when she was only a year old.

"Big sister Ela, Cia."

Little Cia ran over happily when she saw Hella. Hella quickly turned off the stove and reached out for her, picking her up and gently tossing her into the air.

Cia squealed with delight, and Hella smiled warmly.

Hella set Cia down on the floor, and Cia immediately hugged Hella's leg.

"Cia hasn't eaten yet, right?"

"Not yet."

"Wait a minute, okay? Big sister will finish up the food first, once I come back home we can play together."

Cia let go of her hug and ran off, leaving Hella.

Hella smiled, took the tempeh and tofu out, and strained the oil.

Cia's loud voice could be heard all the way to the kitchen.

"Brotheeeerrr!!! There's a papa in the kitchen!!!"

Hella could only remain resigned since it was a regular occurrence, quickly transferring the tempeh and tofu onto plates and preparing spoons and drinks for them.

The sound of footsteps could be heard approaching clearly. Hella rolled up her pants and knelt down to greet them.

Cia's twin older sisters ran over together.

The older one had long hair and the younger one had short hair; they looked identical with no physical differences to tell them apart, but their personalities clearly set them apart.

Hella opened her arms wide, and both of them grabbed Hella's hands and hugged her.

Hella hugged them back, while Cia, who was running late, tried to hurry over. She ran and jumped onto Hella's back.

The long-haired twin let go of her hug and tugged at Hella's hands.

"Let's playyyy."

"Later, big sister is just home for a bit. I still have work to do."

"No waaaay, too looong!!!"

"Later, Kania. Let's eat first, big sister already cooked for you."

The short-haired twin said to Kania, "Come on, let's eat, I'm hungry."

"Let's eat, Kiana."

The two of them ran and immediately sat down at the table.

Little Cia laughed to herself in the back, and Hella carried her over to a chair.

Then they ate together, Hella smiling affectionately as she fed Cia.

A moment later, Mitha, who was alone, wondered what to do besides playing on her phone.

"What should I do?"

A loud rumble came from Mitha's stomach.

"Might as well eat."

Mitha took out a medium-sized box and a small box. When she opened the medium box, it was filled with Wagyu beef cut into small pieces and smothered in black pepper sauce. Then she opened the small box filled with rice.

"Ugh, actually I'm already tired of eating this."

Suddenly she thought of Hella, who hadn't returned to the house yet.

"Should I just eat together with her?"

With a blushing face, she muttered,

"NO WAY, AS IF... I'D BE SO EMBARRASSED!!!"

Not long after, the front door opened and closed. Hella arrived, appeared at the doorway, and asked,

"What are you doing?"

Mitha's face turned even redder, and Hella looked confused, wondering why Mitha's face was as red as a chili pepper.

"Um, do you want to eat together...?"

Hella approached her and sat down facing each other across the food containers.

Hella, who wasn't familiar with gourmet food, asked Mitha,

"What kind of dish is this?"

"This? This is Wagyu beef cut into small pieces with black pepper sauce."

Hella was shocked as if struck by lightning, thinking to herself.

"I feel so embarrassed being a guy with nothing. I can enjoy food this good for free, plus the price of Wagyu beef alone reaches five hundred thousand rupiahs per kilo.

Should I eat it or not... she actually offered it, but my pride as a man is ruined over this."

Mitha tilted her head in confusion as Hella suddenly went silent like a statue.

"Hella-kak?"

"Huh.. u.. yeah, I'll eat with you."

Mitha pulled two spoons out of her bag.

"Coincidentally I have two spoons, so you can use one of them."

Hella grabbed the spoon while Mitha started eating first. Hella still felt like her pride had vanished.

"My life is really like this. What man's pride wouldn't be trampled after finding out his female partner is richer than him?"

A few days earlier before leaving, while they were at Celis's house where she had been laid onto her bedroom bed.

Celis's condition at that time was that the bleeding in her stomach had stopped, but her abdomen couldn't regenerate, as if every bit of regeneration was being slowly devoured.

The three of them were confused about what to do next.

Shintia, trying hard to think of a way out, asked Mitha and Hella.

"Do you two have any friends or anyone who can heal Celis? We need it as soon as possible, or else—"

A voice from behind them that they had never heard before cut off Shintia's sentence.

"She will die."

Together, they turned around to see the source of the voice. It turned out to be Ferra, the person who had shot Celis's stomach during the fight against Suo. She wore a faint smile.
