Chapter 201 - Chapter 201: Couple Fighting

Chapter 201: Couple Fighting

"Is that the couple's house? It looks gorgeous. Seems like they've really invested in their marriage, even though they're both stone-cold assassins."

Ron finally failed to find a decent bar, but was dragged by Gisele to surveil the "loving" couple together.

Of course, before coming here, they'd made a trip to Disneyland first. Things that Carl wasn't interested in might not appeal to Gisele either. Although in most people's eyes, Gisele came across as an emotionally detached female assassin, she actually had an unexpectedly childlike heart.

It was already the second day.

Several other operatives had also been pulled over by Ron and were hiding in another rental house nearby. Because according to Ron's calculations, the hit squads would come tonight.

"Actually, their marriage certificate is legitimate. Mrs. Smith is an orphan who was recruited by an assassination company as a child, so her 'parents' are hired actors. Her 'father' even had a cameo in the movie 'Finding Neverland.'"

"Well, then I bet Mr. Smith will be surprised to see his father-in-law on the big screen," Ron said, wrapping his arms around Gisele's waist from behind and peering through the telescope. "How long until they get back?"

Gisele leaned over and checked the GPS tracker. "They're en route, should be here any minute. This morning, the wife thought she'd blown her husband up in an elevator shaft, but he showed up very much alive."

"So, is she disappointed or relieved?" Ron was genuinely curious about Mrs. Smith's emotional state.

"Bang!" As they spoke, two cars raced toward the residential driveway simultaneously. Just as they were about to enter, one suddenly swerved, ramming the other aside and taking priority. Then it sped to the front door without stopping, and a stunning woman jumped out.

"Look, there's Mrs. Smith. I thought Mr. Smith would arrive first," Gisele observed.

Ron watched his wife quickly set up two firearms and begin sweeping the house, saying playfully, "So, in this battle of the sexes, you're betting on Mr. Smith to win?"

"Absolutely. In the assassination world, men's physical advantages give them the edge. Want to make a wager?"

"A bet? What kind of bet?"

"I'm putting my money on Mr. Smith. If I win, you take back one of those rings you gave away. Deal?"

Although Gisele spoke casually, Ron could still detect a hint of jealousy in her tone.

I thought you didn't care, but turns out you're jealous too!

Ron smirked secretly, "What if I win?"

"You're backing the wife?" As he spoke, the house lit up with muzzle flashes, and the marital gunfight began. Mrs. Smith took the offensive, dual-wielding an MP5 submachine gun and a Mossberg shotgun. Even Gisele began to second-guess her original choice.

"Can I change my bet now?"

"Sure," Ron agreed nonchalantly. "Either way, I'm betting on a draw."

"A draw?" Gisele asked in surprise. "Don't you know the assassin's code clearly states that if you accidentally fall in love or marry someone from a rival agency, you must eliminate them immediately, or face termination by your own organization?"

"Of course I know that, so what?" Ron picked up the M32 grenade launcher from the floor and checked the cylinder. Six 40mm grenades were already loaded and ready to fire. "There are always forces more powerful than those cold regulations, like love. It's these beautiful emotions that separate humans from animals."

"That's really deep," Gisele looked at Ron with new appreciation.

"Or you could say that, after all, they're married. Nothing resolves conflict better than makeup sex. If that doesn't work, well, have another round."

As if to prove Ron's point, the sounds of combat across the street gradually faded, replaced by various moaning and heavy breathing coming through the surveillance equipment.

Gisele couldn't help but look at Ron with admiration. How predictable, yet incredible! She'd just been thinking one of them would have to die.

Gisele was still hunched over her laptop, her bent posture creating an alluring silhouette. Combined with that admiring gaze, she looked incredibly enticing. And with those sounds from the audio feed...

Any other time, Ron would have immediately made his move, but not today. If Ron's memory served him correctly, a major firefight was about to begin, and he needed to stay focused.

There was no choice—mainly because timing was everything.

The heavy breathing in the house gradually subsided, and outside, five unmarked SUVs quietly surrounded the property, with teams of heavily armed operatives disembarking.

"Boss, we've got eyes on suspicious activity. Should we engage?" Hank's voice crackled over the radio.

"Negative, hold position." Ron peered outside. Five vehicles had deployed nearly thirty armed personnel—not overwhelming numbers. Their tactical movements were expertly coordinated, showing the discipline of seasoned professionals.

"If you want to recruit people, the best approach is to offer assistance at the crucial moment. We can afford to wait," Ron explained. "Besides, let's see if they have what it takes to be worth recruiting."

"If they can't handle this level of heat, I don't think they can provide any meaningful support to our team. Don't forget, our primary objective is to collect back taxes from these two organizations. Securing a survivor to lead us back is our top priority."

Ron was no do-gooder. He hadn't come here purely to rescue the couple—he knew exactly what his agenda was.

The surrounding assassins didn't immediately storm the house. Instead, they lobbed in several flashbang grenades to soften the target. The couple, who'd been resting on the hardwood floor after their passionate reconciliation, quickly scrambled to their feet and ran to the panic room.

Mr. Smith's weapons cache was stored there, but just as they armed themselves and prepared to face the assassins, the reinforced door opened to reveal a remote-controlled robot armed with explosive charges.

Mr. Smith quickly kicked the device away, but he sent it flying straight into a stack of gas cans: "Shit! Damn it, move!"

The couple quickly escaped through an alternate exit.

"There! There! There! We've got them!" The hit squad was ecstatic and immediately redirected their fire, but before they could shoot, the explosive device in the basement detonated.

It also ignited the gasoline stored nearby.

"BOOM!"

The entire house was launched into the sky by the massive explosion, and the shockwave knocked everyone flat. The assassins who had already breached the house were blown to smithereens.

"Jesus Christ, such a beautiful home—these two really don't mess around," Ron winced.

A house like that would cost at least $800,000 in Anaheim, and just like that, it was history.
