Chapter 268: Marvin's Sixth Sense
What happened next once again confirmed the statement that humans are basically creatures of habit.
Marvin once again jumped out of the bushes when no one was paying attention. Ron found it amusing and simply pulled Joe out with him. The three of them each held a weapon. From a distance, they looked like three buddies hanging out in the bushes.
However, although Frank almost made Joe praise him to the sky, his actual fighting ability was not comparable to that of Ron, who was in his prime. In the end, he had to persuade Marvin, who was not thinking clearly, to put down his weapon.
"I won't stay outside. Come on, come back to my place with me." After a brief reminiscence, Marvin pointed behind him and began to lead the way.
The woman named Sarah brought by Frank pointed to the house by the dock in confusion: "Isn't that the one?"
She found that Marvin was not leading them to the house.
"That's just a decoy," Marvin walked to an inconspicuous abandoned car, opened the hood, revealing the passage inside: "Come in."
"Hiding your home in the secret passage of an abandoned car? Your friend is very interesting. I'm becoming more and more intrigued by him." Ron whispered in Joe's ear.
But Sarah was still very confused: "Why do you still live here when you already have a house?"
"Hey, lady, if you were being hunted by the CIA for a long time and had to live in hiding your whole life, I believe you would make the same choice, because only this way can you live longer."
Ron rolled his eyes impatiently: "Actually, hiding in this way is an extremely smart idea. Having an open residence can attract attention, and then you can stay nearby and observe the situation over there at any time so that you can respond.
The best part is, with this decoy in front, those agents who have searched unsuccessfully will often be indifferent to other targets nearby, which invisibly buys time for escape. I have to say, this is really a brilliant idea."
"Right! That's it!" Old Marvin looked at Ron with appreciation, suddenly finding a kindred spirit: "When the helicopter flew over the house last year, I immediately noticed that they were still watching me, staring at me."
"I have a list here, written by a deceased reporter. Everyone on the list is dead, almost everyone." Frank, probably not wanting his woman to continue asking naive questions and causing any conflict with Ron, immediately brought the conversation back to the point.
Before Marvin could take it, Ron snatched the list. "It's the same as what we found, Joe. It's the Guatemala incident."
"Guatemala?" Marvin lost in memory. "It seems we did carry out a mission there."
"Yes, we escorted an agent there, and that agent was clearly on a mission. Afterward, I heard that the entire village was massacred," Joe echoed Marvin's words. Ron glanced down the list. "Right. So, now we need to know if anyone else on this list is still alive? Maybe they know what mission that agent was carrying out."
"Uh..." Sarah took the list and began searching: "Gabriel Singer."
"Okay, a name that sounds distinctly Jewish. Our next goal is to find this person. Do you want to come?" Ron invited the two veteran agents on the sofa.
He chose to ignore Sarah, who was eager to participate. An untrained civilian with no experience would only be a burden if she joined the operation, not to mention her average appearance.
"Frank, I thought I would never say this again. I'm going to make a comeback!" Marvin excitedly put his hand on Ron's and shouted.
"No matter where you go, even to hell, I'll follow you, my boss." Joe also raised his palm.
"This is your problem in the first place. I just saw a profit opportunity and came here to dig up dirt on the CIA. Killing people on my territory, I need to settle accounts with them." Ron complained. Then, three pairs of eyes focused on Frank.
"Okay, I'm in!"
Then, the temporary team composed of Ron and the veteran agents split into two groups. One group, led by Frank, was responsible for obtaining Gabriel's address.
The other group consisted of Ron and Joe.
Because Joe's identity was now officially dead, and Ron didn't want to expose himself, the two of them chose to travel through the countryside without surveillance. It wasn't until three o'clock in the afternoon that Ron finally received a text message from Frank.
Mobile Air Transport Terminal.
"Alabama?" Ron pushed back his chair helplessly. "Are we on a tracking mission or filming a travel show across the United States?"
"Perhaps you can take a look at the scenery of the southern states." Joe started the car.
"Well, I'll just treat it as a vacation. Wake me when we get there." Ron put on his eye mask.
The next day, Frank came out of the train station with his girlfriend Sarah and old friend Marvin. Ron and Joe had arrived at the station long before them, but because of a small incident, they didn't immediately recognize them.
Just as they walked out of the station, Marvin suddenly went paranoid and mistook a woman behind him for a CIA agent and pressed her against the wall and interrogated her aggressively.
If Frank hadn't rescued the poor woman in time, Marvin might have seriously hurt the person on the spot.
"I'm sorry to let you see such an embarrassing scene. Actually, Marvin was locked up and fed hallucinogens for eleven years because of a CIA mind control experiment. As a result, he suffered from paranoia and sometimes... he behaves erratically."
Joe explained somewhat embarrassedly.
But Ron didn't take it seriously: "Because my roommate is someone you've met, I have always believed in one thing, that is, those who seem very unusual often have some more remarkable abilities, and perhaps your old friend is one of them.
Maybe this is his sixth sense that he has developed through a long battle of wits and courage with those malicious scientists."
After Ron finished speaking, he pretended to walk past the woman casually. He and Joe's faces were disguised, and their original appearance could no longer be seen, so there was no need to avoid being photographed by cameras.
However, something remarkable happened. Just as they walked past the woman, as if to specifically confirm Ron's words, the woman's originally terrified expression suddenly calmed down, and she took out a mobile phone from her handbag and made a call.
"Target tracking failed, the target person has been alerted, and all tracking personnel evacuate."
