Hello everyone!
Thank you for reading my first ever novel and giving it a chance, I hope you find it entertaining.
I've been reading web novels for a while now and I truly have been sent down the rabbit hole and so I thought I'd try my own go at writing one simply because I am bored.
This book is something I have been thinking about for a while now and I am going to write it according to how I want it to be.
I am writing Vampire Cultivation Odyssey as an epic and very long novel.
The scale is going to enermous, there are going to loads of different races (beasts, humans, elves, dwarves, demons, devils, titans, undead, eldritches, vampires, werewolves, aliens, AI, angels, spirit races, the classic goblins and orcs, etc etc etc, if you can think of it then they will most likely show up in the novel at some point), different power systems (ie magic and cultivation).
The world will be scaled on a cosmic level just to basically give me a blank canvas where I'm free to write what I want within reason.
The cultivation system is going to be pretty simple off the bat, so don't expect things like soul techniques, domains, laws, or daos for a longggggggg time.
I want to scale up gradually as the novel progresses.
This really is going to be an odyssey, written more like a biography rather than an epic tale of the protagonist racing against time and fighting the heavens and becoming the one above all.
That simply is not going to happen here. I don't know the exact end of the story, but I do know it will involve nothing about being the supreme ruler of the cosmos.
The novel will centre around Viktor and to be honest it will play out more as a tragedy story.
The first three volumes will basically serve as a prologue and be around a combined total of around 2000 chapters I'm aiming for. Yes, it's going to be a very long book.
I want there to be action, adventure, romance, slice of life, horror, tragedy and the such.
Oh, and there is also going to be harem. I know a lot of people really do not like it because a lot of writers do the genre poorly and it most of the time devolves into picking up girls like collectables. I want to avoid that at all costs. However, I believe a harem will be a necessity just due to the fact that the MC will be going around having adventures and attracting the ladies.
The harem I've planned for has a maximum of 4 women as I think thats the furthest I can push it with the story and MC's personality which will be changing across the story. Might change, might not. But don't expect the harem to form for a long time, again Viktor is not going to be your typical MC, he really isn't going to be the one who the ladies focus on, that will be someone else. Viktor will kind of be a background character to someone else's story for the three prologue volumes.
In terms of writing smut chapters? I have no idea. Do people who read harem stories consider this an absolute must? I might write it but then again I might not, I mean... what if my family finds out about this in the future and reads it? What if I (somehow) get a girlfriend in the future? Ehh... If the people demand it, I will write it. If the people don't really care about it, then I will probably just hint at it vaguely and skip it.
I suppose all the R-18 stuff will mainly come from the violence and the world the MC is seeing, so there will be stuff such as slavery, torture, s*xual assault. All the stuff you would expect from a cultivation world, a world where the strong really do eat the weak.
Want to cite the Geneva Convention to the arrogant young master? He won't care, he'll just order his guards to kill you without even leaving you with an intact corpse!
Mentioning human rights? Truly courting death!
(Don't worry though I'm not going to write edgy and horrific stuff just for the sake of it. When it comes up it will be needed in the story in order to fit the ideas I am trying to present.)
Oh, and disclaimer: the main character of this novel, Viktor Harrow, will not be a murderous psychopath right off the bat, in fact he won't be anything like that for a while. He's going to grow up as a normal boy on Earth with a loving family, so concepts like murder and death are going to be traumatising to someone as mentally stable and naive as him.
However, he will change significantly over the course of the story.
And there is going to be quite a bit of swearing at the start but in my defence the characters who do that are teenagers so I believe it is appropriate behaviour for their age. However, rest assured I am not trying to be edgy or anything like that, because as the characters grow and get older they will certainly curse much less.
In truth, the characters are my priority for this. I want them to be seen as actual people with their own issues and quirks going for them. The characters will drive the plot forward, not the action or some idea I want to shove in. Everything has to be organic and make sense.
