Matteo woke to sunlight streaming through the windows and Felix's weight pressed against his side.
The guest room at the Romano estate was quiet, peaceful.
They'd been too exhausted last night to drive back to the penthouse, gratefully accepting Don Luciano's offer to stay.
The wedding felt like a dream distant and vivid all at once.
Felix stirred, mumbling something incoherent into Matteo's shoulder.
"Morning," Matteo said softly.
"Mmph."
"That's not a word."
"It is now. I'm married. I can make up words with you."
"That's not how marriage works."
Felix lifted his head, squinting at him with sleepy eyes. "Are you sure? I'm pretty sure that's one of the perks."
"I'll check the paperwork."
"You do that." Felix dropped his head back down, then suddenly shot up. "Wait. We're married."
"We established this yesterday."
"I know, but...." Felix held up his left hand, staring at the rings like he was seeing them for the first time. "We're actually married. This isn't a dream."
