"So what is the plan?" I questioned Cindy, eager to know, my voice sharper than I intended as impatience curled tightly in my chest.
"The moment the babies start to feed on their mothers from the inside, we will take them out and feed them blood," Cindy said calmly, her tone clinical despite the horror of her words.
"We will also feed the mothers vampire blood so that they can heal up," she continued, as if she were explaining a routine procedure rather than something that twisted my stomach.
'Nothing to say to that?' I questioned Khimar, my thoughts sharp and probing as I waited for his presence to press back against mine.
I waited for him to answer, stretching my awareness toward him, pushing gently at first and then with growing urgency, but all I received in return was the cold, deliberate wall of the silent treatment, rigid and unyielding as if he had sealed himself away from me entirely.
