Chapter 138: The Invincible Duo, Straight to Hell
"Down you go, down you go, down you go…"
With Super-Form Xi Nian's mental command, the words echoed endlessly inside Victor's mind, as if spoken directly into his thoughts.
Down?
Down where?
The question barely formed before Victor suddenly understood what it meant—
Boom!
Under an unseen but overwhelming energy field, Victor felt his entire body crushed as if by a giant hand, hammering him viciously into the ground below.
Whether his body could withstand it or not didn't matter.
The street tiles beneath his feet shattered first, then the ground itself split as though pierced open by his falling body.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Driven by the overwhelming force, Victor's body accelerated downward like a missile, smashing through tiles, concrete, underground pipes, and then deeper into untouched rock and soil!
Lorna, amused, reached out a small hand. Green light sparkled from her palm, pulling on Victor's armor and dragging him down even faster.
In that instant—
The Victor who had just moments ago appeared like a herald of destruction was reduced to nothing more than a human iron stake, endlessly driven into the earth beneath the city.
Down you go, down you go, down you go!
Stones and rubble exploded around him as he was forced deeper and deeper underground. Once again, Victor tasted despair and death—
But this time—
He didn't even know who his enemy was, or what they truly looked like.
"Who are you? No!!!"
Watching the city lights above grow ever more distant, Victor screamed in terror, his voice cracking as he plunged past a hundred meters below the surface.
Two hundred… five hundred… a thousand meters—
It felt as if he were being cast straight into the depths of hell.
Until at last, the depth was so great his screams could no longer be heard.
Lorna pouted, retracting her glowing hand. "That ended too quickly. The game of whack-a-mole was just getting fun."
It wasn't that Victor was weak—
It was simply that Xi Nian and Lorna's combination was far too overwhelming. With their dual magnetic control, he had no chance at all.
Xi Nian's eyes glowed blue. The massive pit Victor had created collapsed in on itself, filling seamlessly as the ground repaired.
Though it looked as if Xi Nian had done everything while carrying Lorna, in truth he had been fully utilizing his Super-Form the entire time. After all, Super-Form didn't enhance his physical strength—it amplified his mastery of energy and force fields.
Whether he used his hands, his feet, or nothing at all made no difference to his power.
To Susan, the only witness, the scene was as awe-inspiring as the miracle she had once seen aboard the spaceship.
In her memory, the figure of that invincible god overlapped perfectly with the blue-haired boy before her.
"Let's go."
Xi Nian, still in his Super-Form, didn't look back. Carrying Lorna in his arms, he rose into the night sky.
Helping here was merely a passing favor, a way to repay borrowing Susan's powers.
"Wait!" Susan instinctively tried to stop him.
But neither Xi Nian nor Lorna seemed to hear. Wrapped in blue light, they quickly vanished into the night sky above the city's towers.
"We're leaving. Thanks for the burgers. Maybe we'll meet again someday…"
His voice lingered faintly in her ears as he disappeared.
Susan stood frozen, staring at the sky, until two familiar figures arrived—Reed, newly thawed, and Johnny, still drying seawater from his clothes.
"What happened here? Where's that bastard Victor?!" Johnny demanded angrily, searching the area.
"No need to look. He's below." The Thing pointed at the ground beneath Johnny's feet. Since he too hadn't seen Xi Nian or Lorna, he assumed it was Susan who had shown her true strength and buried Victor underground.
"Below? What do you mean?" Johnny looked down, seeing only a circular crater in the pavement.
"Susan, are you alright?"
Reed glanced at her, then followed her gaze skyward. "Was something up there?"
"Nothing…" Susan shook her head faintly, eyes drifting to the crater. "Whether Victor is alive or not, he won't ever come back to hurt anyone again."
"It's over."
Her voice was soft, her eyes dimming with melancholy.
Reed suddenly felt that when Susan said "over," she wasn't just talking about Victor.
And worse—
He felt that, in this moment, he had lost something forever. Something he couldn't yet name.
…
Los Angeles.
At the biotech company owned by Killian, the top-floor office windows suddenly creaked open.
The cold night wind stirred the documents on the desk, rustling papers and lifting the curtains.
Shrouded in a glowing blue aura, invisible to all sight, Xi Nian in his Super-Form carried Lorna through the window into the office.
The true purpose of their trip to Los Angeles was to find Killian, the mastermind who had targeted Lorna. Running into Susan and the others had merely been an unexpected detour.
Though time had been wasted, the reward was worth it—Xi Nian had fused powers that could now easily crush Killian's entire organization.
And so, Xi Nian and Lorna returned to the main mission of their "trip."
But now it was already past midnight, and the building was silent.
"How are we supposed to find him? Don't tell me we'll have to wait here until morning." Lorna muttered.
Xi Nian was about to reply when his eyes sharpened. "Someone's coming."
With his Super-Form, he no longer needed Jarro's reminders. By releasing his energy and extending his field, he could perfectly sense his surroundings—almost like a private domain.
Ten seconds later, the office door opened.
A burly man in a suit walked in, turning on the lights. He frowned at the open window. "Strange… I could've sworn all the windows were locked from the inside."
Xi Nian glanced at the security camera in the corner. Clearly this was just a guard who'd noticed something off in the footage.
A voice suddenly sounded in his mind. "Xi Nian, his body has the same unstable burning energy as the one we fought last time!"
It was Jarro.
Not that Xi Nian needed the warning. His senses were sharp enough to feel it already.
Lucky, indeed.
A faint smile tugged at Xi Nian's lips.
Still carrying Lorna, he remained invisible. The guard walked right past them to the window and closed it.
And the instant the window clicked shut—
The lights in the office went out.
The guard's body lifted into the air, slammed like a ragdoll against the wall, half of him embedded in it.
Super-Form Xi Nian had struck.
