Chapter 143 - Chapter 144: Upcoming Weekend

Chapter 144: Weekend Hell Levels

Regarding how to investigate S.H.I.E.L.D.

Xi Nian suddenly had an idea and asked toward the balcony, "Jarro, how many jellyfish clones can you split right now?"

"Just after a meal, about ninety-nine," Jarro responded mentally. "If I exceed that number, I would have to control them directly with my main body."

"About a hundred, that's enough."

Xi Nian pondered for a moment, then snapped his fingers, giving Jarro a command.

...

That night, hundreds of kilometers from Washington.

A bar in New York.

A tired white driver, having just finished a long run, yawned and approached the bar counter. "Whiskey, on the rocks."

"Ice ball or steel ball?" the Black bartender asked.

"Ice ball."

"Alright, sir, please wait a moment."

The bartender nodded and began skillfully carving the ice ball.

The driver didn't bother to look, his eyes scanning the bar for women.

He didn't notice that when he turned slightly, a black button on his shirt loosened and fell off, disappearing without a trace, invisible even to the bar's cameras.

On the bartender's white shirt, a tiny ball had attached itself. Smaller than a coin and transparent, it soon changed color to semi-white to fully blend with the shirt. Even up close in daylight, it was nearly invisible.

If you took it out and placed it in water under sunlight, you might see that it was a colorful miniature jellyfish!

This was one of Jarro's clones, a miniature jellyfish.

These mini jellyfish had no independent consciousness. They acted like receivers, controlled by Jarro's main body.

They could move quickly and stealthily, change color or become transparent, and had enough power to kill an adult with a surprise attack. Wherever they existed, no matter the distance, Jarro could detect anything within ten meters.

Most importantly, if a mini jellyfish was exposed, Jarro could discard it, letting it dissipate back into energy.

This ensured safety and secrecy! Even if a mini jellyfish left traces, no one could trace it back to Jarro, let alone know that a high school student in Washington was behind it.

This was Xi Nian's first strategy. Although slower, it was safe and reliable. At most, it sacrificed a portion of Jarro's energy, making it ideal for investigating S.H.I.E.L.D. in New York.

"The previously locked New York battle zones have been reopened, but there could still be S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. That area is a key investigation zone. Stark Industries should also be related, but the tech is advanced, so caution is necessary," Xi Nian noted.

Since their knowledge of S.H.I.E.L.D. was zero, starting with the headquarters made sense.

"Leave the intelligence gathering to me. I'm very experienced," Jarro replied confidently.

That night, it wasn't just one. Hundreds of mini jellyfish spread throughout New York, clinging to humans, pets, and vehicles, gradually analyzing the city.

The workload was massive. Without Jarro and his main body, Starro, this would be impossible.

Even with hundreds of mini jellyfish, scanning half of New York would take more than a couple of days.

Xi Nian could only wait patiently.

...

Elsewhere, late at night.

"Director, you should go home and rest early," Agent Hill, her short ponytail neat and tidy, entered S.H.I.E.L.D. Director's office.

"You go first. I'll be there soon."

Nick Fury, seated in his chair, waved without looking up.

A few seconds later, not hearing her footsteps leave, he lifted his eye to look at her. "Relax, this is S.H.I.E.L.D. I have a car for the way home. Nothing will happen."

"Alright then." Hill nodded helplessly and left.

Alone in the vast, quiet office.

Fury was used to it. He finished reviewing files on the Desolation Virus and tapped the line about the virus creator being killed by an unseen supernatural entity. He opened a drawer to temporarily store the file.

Suddenly, Fury remembered something and pulled out another file.

Unfortunately, a photo slipped out.

He bent to pick it up but froze.

His remaining eye widened. On the floor was a photo of a black-haired boy holding a small cat in everyday life.

At first glance, it seemed ordinary.

Although the cat appeared to be a normal orange cat, Fury's wounded left eye twinged. The scars told him clearly it wasn't really a cat.

"Fuck!!"

Agent Hill, outside S.H.I.E.L.D.'s gate, looked up, vaguely hearing the director's long-forgotten frustrated curse echoing hundreds of meters above.

...

Monday morning.

Xi Nian, with his backpack, headed to school. As usual, he ran into his childhood friend Gwen from the neighboring area and his junior Kara from the suburbs.

Don't ask. Yes, Kryptonians can do as they please!

Two well-developed, distinct blonde girls, wearing youthful blouses and short skirts, showed off their white socks and black stockings, turning heads wherever they went.

However, today, the school morning atmosphere was off.

The two didn't bicker as usual.

Gwen was a little moody and walked ahead. Kara barely spoke, occasionally glancing at Xi Nian.

"Alright, what do you want? Speak up," Xi Nian sighed under pressure, putting his cards on the table.

Gwen's eyes lit up. She turned, puffing her cheeks. "This weekend, you must come to my house. My mom said it's been a long time since she saw you!"

"Fine. This weekend, even if the world ends, I'll go," Xi Nian declared firmly.

Kara blinked, smiling. "Xi Nian, my cousin wants to see you too. He said if you don't come this weekend, he'll come over."

"No need," Xi Nian quickly interrupted. "Saturday I'll visit Gwen's house, Sunday I'll visit your cousin's house. Is that okay?"

"Deal," Kara smiled, unconcerned with order. She remembered something and added softly, "Right, it's not my house, it's my cousin's house."

Xi Nian's eye twitched. One only has a gun while other is a God, yet both are equally terrifying. He had a feeling this weekend would not be easy to survive!
