Cherreads

Chapter 231 - SWWW Chapter 232: Supergirl, Spider-Woman

SWWW Chapter 232: Supergirl, Spider-Woman

Outside in the courtyard, the moonlight was breathtaking. Every cherry blossom petal shimmered faintly under the glow.

The soft and tranquil night air flowed gently into the room.

Lying flat on his back, Xi Nian opened his eyes. Try as he might, he couldn't fall asleep.

In this situation, it was obvious that his aunt had completely pretended not to exist, hiding herself away.

He turned his head to the right to check on Wanda. The girl was curled up, her small body wrapped tightly in the kimono, looking even more stiff and tense than he was.

If he didn't do something, Xi Nian figured, even if he managed to fall asleep, Wanda definitely wouldn't.

"Alright, are you still angry?"

Breaking the silence, Xi Nian reached out and gently rubbed Wanda's head. "Young Master apologizes. I'll reflect on it, okay?"

"Eh… why would I be angry?"

Wanda turned around in confusion, her body still tense.

Xi Nian sighed. "Because I didn't realize you could slip out of your body with your soul. So I teleported your body away and caused a huge mess, even putting you in danger of being separated from your soul. You must've been cursing me as a big idiot, right?"

"I wasn't!"

Wanda panicked, clutching Xi Nian's hand tightly with her small fingers. "I knew! You were worried about my physical condition, that's why you used the artifact to teleport. The Cloak of Levitation already told me!"

"You can talk with the Cloak of Levitation?" Xi Nian was surprised. His maid was sounding more and more like a witch every day.

"Not exactly talk… I just somehow understand the messages it wants to convey."

Wanda's eyes grew moist and red as she whispered, "The Cloak said you carried me from the hospital to the Sanctum, completely frantic. That made me… really happy."

"Happy? You nearly died!"

Xi Nian couldn't help but pinch the girl's delicate nose.

"That just proves… in Young Master's heart, I still have great value." Wanda didn't dodge, letting him pinch her.

Her soft crimson eyes sparkled like gems, reflecting the silver moonlight shining from the courtyard.

"It's not about value."

Xi Nian shook his head firmly. "You're priceless. No amount of value can measure you. Wanda, even though you're in the role of a maid at home, I've always seen you as family. In the past, and in the future too.

"So if you're ever in danger, I'll save you. If you get hurt, that means I've failed! You're the most precious jewel in our family! I believe Aunt Diana thinks the same too."

His voice was filled with sincerity.

"Yes. From now on, I won't let myself get hurt again."

Wanda's eyes shimmered with tears as she nodded firmly.

"And don't ever leave me again… in any sense of the word."

"Yes, Young Master!"

…

Not bad at all.

Inside the blanket to his left, the black-haired woman curled up within let out a knowing smile.

That child… had truly grown up.

…

"Young Master, maid outfits are really popular here. Should we buy a few sets to take home?"

"Sure."

"Young Master, does this kimono I'm wearing look nice?"

"It does."

"Young Master, I met a classmate at school. Can I invite her to our house to play?"

"Of course…"

Now that Wanda was no longer nervous, she began to talk more and more.

Xi Nian listened to her sweet voice, breathing in the faint violet fragrance around him, and before he knew it, his eyes closed. At some point, he drifted into a warm dream.

In his dream, Xi Nian felt like a hot dog stuffed between two soft, delicious hamburger buns, with smooth melted cheese oozing all around, making him want to devour the moment.

Until—

He rolled over, and the sweet dream shattered.

…

Xi Nian opened his eyes to find himself back in his own room at home.

The curtains were fully drawn back, letting in the bright light of midday.

Instinctively, he looked to either side of his bed. It was empty—just him lying there in his pajamas.

It was already Sunday morning, ten o'clock.

Could it be… everything that happened yesterday was just a dream?

Yawning in doubt, Xi Nian stepped out of his room—only to see, hanging on the living room display rack, a golden sword that looked like a work of art.

Odin's sword…

A dream, huh? Not a chance.

Xi Nian fully snapped awake.

On the living room sofa, Xiao Huang was sprawled out asleep, clearly staying up even later than him.

The red Cloak of Levitation was draped lazily over the armrest, while Jarro's glass jar sat at its usual spot on the balcony.

As for…

The two others, big and small, were no longer in the house.

Just then, the voice of Alice, the household AI, echoed softly: "Master, Housekeeper Wanda said your breakfast has been prepared. Please eat after waking up."

"Got it."

Xi Nian gestured an "OK," washed up, and changed into casual loungewear.

After breakfast, he picked up his phone, replying to messages from Gwen and Kara. Both of them told him to check the TV.

Turning it on, Xi Nian quickly understood.

The newly announced superhero joining the Avengers—Spider-Woman—had just made her dazzling debut in New York, completely dominating the local news channels!

Meanwhile, in Gotham, Supergirl had been making headlines by cracking down on crime, her popularity even rivaling the legendary Batman. Some had already begun calling her the "Goddess Among Humans," a title meant to mirror Superman's famous "God Among Men."

On-screen, he saw Gwen's slim figure swinging between skyscrapers in her spider-suit, and Kara's platinum silhouette descending from the skies in her Kryptonian battle attire, crushing a criminal's truck beneath her boots.

Xi Nian smiled knowingly. Sometimes he really couldn't believe it—once upon a time, in his eyes, they were just ordinary, fragile girls.

No… even now, they still were.

He paused, then instructed: "Alice, Jarro. Keep an eye on the situation in New York and Gotham. I don't care about the rest, just make sure Gwen and Kara are safe. If anything unusual happens, let me know immediately."

"Yes, Master," Alice replied quickly. "The company is preparing to launch a private satellite. I'll use network data and satellite positioning to keep a constant watch over Gwen and Kara."

Now that she was being paired with both a supercomputer and satellites, Alice could finally unleash her true capabilities.

Jarro's voice came through telepathically: "My split spores are already scattered across New York's corners, and today I'll begin infiltrating Gotham as well."

The starfish clones weren't just scouts—they could also serve as terrifying bioweapons against ordinary humans.

"Good."

Xi Nian nodded.

He wouldn't be a superhero himself, but he wouldn't stop Gwen and Kara from pursuing their dreams as heroes either.

All he needed to do was give them enough protection so they could spread their wings without worry.

And one day, when they grew tired of flying…

By then, he'd be there—

Xi Nian's eyes flickered with a mysterious light. No one knew what he was thinking.
