He noticed it the moment Nico walked in, and noticed him. The male omega, slight but steady, moving behind the counter with an ease that suggested he belonged there. Cassian had expected… something else. Someone else. He didn't know what, exactly, but the cinnamon scent hit him before he could think it through. Warm and lived-in, threaded with something softer beneath it.
Cassian stilled, breath catching just enough to irritate him. He hadn't scented an omega like that, not one that reached under his skin and tugged. When their gazes met, there was a hint of barely concealed surprise and familiarity in those deep brown eyes.
