chapter 159 part 2
It is said that at one point, there were lines of over a hundred people waiting outside the telephone booths.
In one instance, there was even news of a telephone booth being stolen in a certain area.
In short, this scene within the short film not only left a deep impression on audiences in the cinema, including Colin, but also had a certain impact on the future development of telephone booths in New York.
Of course, the changes to telephone booths were a matter for later. For now, the short film continued to be screened in the cinema.
With Superman's appearance, some of the previously complaining audience members fell silent, focusing intently on the content on the big screen, afraid that they might miss any moment of Superman's scenes.
"Is that a bird?
Is that a plane?
That's Superman!" ×N
Watching Superman flying through the sky, the citizens of Metropolis immediately exclaimed.
And in sync with the line from the movie, many audience members in the cinema also recited it in unison.
This slogan, passed down by the Newsboy, had, to some extent, become a widely known phrase in New York City.
Many New York City citizens knew this phrase.
Amidst the audience's shouts, Superman on the big screen arrived in front of the burning building. He glanced down at the panicked Mickey below and, without hesitation, rushed into the fire.
Mickey: "What is that, Pluto?!"
Looking up at the figure floating in mid-air, Mickey was somewhat surprised but quickly remembered the poster Pluto had previously fetched for him: "It's Superman!"
Amidst Mickey's exclamations, Superman, like lightning, rescued all the victims from the entire building.
Victim: "Thank you, Superman!"
Held in Superman's arms as he emerged from the fire scene, the rescued little girl immediately expressed her gratitude.
Superman: "It's my duty, child."
Nodding as he spoke to the girl in his arms, Superman gently set her down, then flew back into the air, looked at the intensifying flames of the building, and took a deep breath.
Hoo ~
With Superman's exhale, the fierce flames actually extinguished magically, and a layer of cold air even enveloped the surface of the building.
Mickey: "So cold!"
Standing beside the building, feeling the faint chill radiating from the building, Mickey shivered and said.
Having successfully rescued the people from the fire and extinguished the blaze, Superman slowly landed. He accepted the thanks of the rescued and then turned his gaze to Mickey, who looked out of place among the surrounding Metropolis residents.
Superman: "Who are you?"
Mickey: "I'm Mickey, and this is Pluto."
Pluto: "Woof woof."
Mickey: "So, you're Superman?"
Superman: "That's right, I am Superman!"
Mickey: "Have you been doing this all along?"
Superman: "As long as people need me, I will continue to do so, with Truth, Justice, and the American Way!"
Truth, Justice, and the American Way?!
This was also a classic Superman slogan that would influence a generation of Americans in the future.
Watching Superman on the big screen, always standing tall and proud, as if no difficulty could defeat him, the audience in the cinema felt a surge of courage.
The total runtime of the short film "Superman and Mickey" was only fifteen minutes. Even so, it was considered long among the animated shorts produced by Disney, as Disney's previous shorts were typically limited to six or seven minutes, and even "Flowers and Trees" was less than eight minutes long.
On the big screen, as Superman uttered the classic slogan Colin had prepared for him, the end credits music began to play.
However, the audience in the cinema remained immersed in the previous short film, unable to react.
For a full dozen seconds, as the screen went dark and the cinema lights came back on, they seemed to snap out of a dream, coming back to their senses.
"Brilliant! This is the best movie I've seen all year!"
"Only a dozen minutes, can that even be called a movie?"
"Regardless, as long as I can see Superman in a movie, I'm satisfied."
"I want to buy another ticket and watch Superman's appearance again!"
"Me too!"
"Who can give me five cents? I'll sell him my jacket…"
"For only six cents, you can get a pair of leather shoes worn for less than two months!"
Inside the cinema, many audience members, eager to watch the movie again, began to sell their personal belongings.
Getting up from his seat, Colin walked out of the cinema, weaving through the excited crowd.
"Hoo…"
Stepping out of the cinema, he couldn't help but let out a long sigh. Glancing back at the still-long queue of people buying movie tickets, the corners of his mouth curved upward involuntarily.
[Faith (21630/100000)]
As his gaze fell upon the displayed text, the smile on his lips deepened.
Without a doubt, with the release of the short film "Superman and Mickey," [Faith] began to show a skyrocketing trend.
Of course, [Faith] was not the only thing he gained. Colin thought as he shifted his gaze.
[Ability - Super Breath (Bronze)]
[Ability Description: Superman's lungs can withstand any pressure or lack, allowing him to hold his breath for hours to fight underwater. Furthermore, as the ability is used more frequently, Superman can now highly compress the air he inhales and exhale it, turning it into Freeze Breath.]
Through the screening of the short film, Colin not only upgraded [Super Breath] to the [Bronze] level but also unlocked the [Freeze Breath] ability.
However, unlike previous abilities, [Freeze Breath] seemed to be categorized under [Super Breath], becoming a branch ability of that power.
Hoo ~
Lost in thought, Colin lowered his head and exhaled softly onto his palm.
Under his gaze, a thin layer of white frost appeared on his palm.
Wiggling his fingers and regaining feeling in his stiff hand, Colin was quite satisfied with the unlocked [Freeze Breath].
After all, in the Main World, his abilities were always suppressed. Even so, a simple breath could produce a layer of frost. This foreshadowed that once he used this ability in the Anti-World, the freezing effect would undoubtedly be several times stronger than what he was experiencing now.
