Draven watched the clock ticking, acutely aware that he was in deep, serious shit. Not only was Daniel's patience hanging by a thread, but Xylander was visibly fuming. Explaining why he had seemingly turned on them to support his father was going to be a massive ordeal.
He had known this would happen—that Beatrice would dig into their lives. Who else but that obsessed bitch would go so far as to investigate whether he was legally married or not? The thought made him sick to the bone, enraged that his useless family still believed they held any shred of control over him.
Preventing Daniel from slapping his father had been a calculated move. Draven didn't want his love to soil his hands on that excuse of a man; this was his battle, and he would handle it his own way.
