Besides, the goddess Themis of sacred justice had long since made every preparation to welcome the God-King; with everything ready, how could he still make his beloved goddess wait in vain?
Whenever Zeus thought of the pure, white-robed goddess of justice bearing the scales, his heart instantly flared with heat; his entire divinity seemed to ignite, turning searing and ablaze!
His gaze passed through the gods to the Themis encircled by many deities, who were asking her about the details of the Divine Order.
Watching that goddess who symbolized immaculate justice, expounding the universe's jurisprudence with a sacred bearing that bordered on the Way itself, the God-King of order and justice at once felt a divine intoxication.
Earnest sacred order was simply too beautiful!
This beauty was not worldly comeliness, but an ultimate, harmonious, reassuring sanctity and perfection.
He stepped away from the "goddess storm circle" of Metis, Demeter, Mnemosyne, and Nyx—which likely wouldn't erupt again—and walked unhurriedly to Themis's side.
Along the way, all deities bowed slightly to the universe's supreme sovereign, offering the highest respect, and Zeus returned each with a composed nod.
When the God-King halted before the goddess of order, the surrounding gods quietly and tacitly withdrew, leaving them an undisturbed space, so as not to impede the God-King's conversation with his wife.
Wearing a look of solemn earnestness, Zeus said before the gods, "Dear Themis, goddess of order, I have a matter concerning the universe's future that must be discussed with you at once. Let us go to your temple for a detailed talk."
Themis started slightly. Lifting her clear and steadfast eyes to the utterly serious expression on Zeus's face, she truly believed it was as weighty as he said.
So she nodded gravely and followed Zeus back to her temple.
In the distance, the four great goddesses who had launched a new round of sharp-tongued sparring the instant Zeus left saw him depart together with Themis.
They instantly lost the will to argue, snorted in unison, turned their heads, and dispersed—out of sight, out of mind.
As for Zeus, the moment he returned to the temple with his beloved goddess, he could no longer hold back. While swinging the doors shut behind him, he turned and drew that ice-pure, jade-like sacred form tightly into his arms.
Startled by the sudden embrace, Themis's divine body went taut, though this time she didn't resist.
After Metis had opened her heart to speak with her, and after Zeus had publicly named her his wife, she could finally, if barely, accept Zeus's love with composure.
Yet, held so closely by Zeus and bathed in his domineering God-King aura that mingled thunder and sky, the eternally calm goddess of justice lost all poise in an instant.
Her originally meticulous, dignified expression quietly took on a touch of girlish nervousness. Her snow-white cheeks were softly tinged with a breathtaking blush.
In a voice as thin as a mosquito she said, "Zeus, didn't you say there was some great matter about the universe to discuss with me? Why are you—"
Eyes narrowed in contentment, a wickedly satisfied smile on his face, Zeus nestled his cheek against the goddess of justice's long, pristine swan-like neck, his thin lips gently grazing that cool, jade-smooth skin.
In a muffled voice warm with his searing breath, he said, "My dearest Themis, my light of divinity—how could I deceive you? What I'm doing now is indeed the most important matter, the top priority for the universe's future."
The divine power within Themis seemed to melt into a spring pool as she softened into Zeus's firm, heated embrace. She already knew what he truly intended.
Though she had no power to resist this amorous God-King—and had long been prepared—even so, at the very moment it truly arrived, even steadfast justice felt a little shy.
Hearing Zeus's rather shameless words, she couldn't help secretly rolling her eyes in playful reproach, yet said nothing and offered no pushback.
Zeus was already reaching for the pure white sash of the goddess in his arms. "O light of order my divinity longs for most—now that the Divine Order has been established, you oversee the sanctified majesty of that law. But the universe is vast without bound, the gods and beings are beyond number, and the endless laws are tangled and intricate, hard to comb through."
"No matter how perfect the order we created, it is destined that in the future you will face far too many omissions and disputes to resolve."
"I know how deeply you cherish all beings; you will surely do everything yourself, meticulous in every matter. If so, it will be exhausting."
"How could I bear for my most beloved you to have your radiance shrouded by trifling affairs? How could I allow you to be trapped in the prison of endless work?"
"I cannot accept any time without you by my side. I want to share the universe's wonders with you, to savor the world's fragrance."
"But I also know that one as immaculate as you will never abandon your sacred duty. Since that is so, I can only find you capable helpers."
Smiling tenderly, his eyes nearly squinting shut, Zeus said, "And in all this universe, what helpers could be better than the children we conceive in one heart and one mind? They will be the extension of order, the embodiment of our will."
"My beloved, will you bear children of the Divine Order with me? Let them be your assistants, to comb through the web of laws and help you adjudicate the fates of all gods and all living beings."
Themis had still been faintly, almost imperceptibly, restraining Zeus's exploring hands with the last shred of order's reserve.
But after hearing these words, the final line in her heart collapsed like a breached dam, leaving only a flood of emotion enough to drown her whole divinity.
In a heartbeat, she had no resistance left.
She gazed up at Zeus with rapt adoration, lightly biting her resolute red lip, and said in a soft voice tinged with a faint tremor, "Zeus… my love… how could I not be willing to bear our children with you?"
"Now, I can only speak aloud what I never dared to say."
"My love, you are the supreme God-King, and I am the embodiment of order. You are the master of order, and so I… I am destined to be yours."
"I know how deeply you love me, and I am deeply grateful to you. It was you who made me better; it was you who granted me all I have longed for in my dreams."
"I am endlessly grateful for your respect for my will. You helped me hold to my justice, and never used your supreme authority to seize me by force."
"My love, do you know that none of my past refusals ever arose from unwillingness? Do you know how much I… I have longed to be utterly possessed by you?"
"With every fraction and inch of my divinity, I yearn to merge completely into your sacred and noble sovereign divinity!"
"Because I am your order!"
The goddess of righteous order, the immaculate Themis—her golden, resolute eyes fixed on Zeus with utmost seriousness, infinite tenderness and resolve in their depths.
Now, she was the alluring Themis in the God-King's embrace.
Words enough to move sun, moon, and stars flowed slowly from her perfectly curved red lips: "O Zeus, you are my God-King, my liege, and also my Sky Father. How I have longed for you to be my husband as well."
"And now my wish, my deepest longing, has finally come true. Even if this may not be what I should think as the goddess of order, nor words I should say, I cannot control my feelings, nor can I halt my boundless yearning for you."
"O Zeus, I want to tell you that I love you. All that I am—my divinity, my will, my future—will forever belong to you alone. Whatever you wish to do with me, I accept with all my heart."
"Because sacred order is born because of you; and justice in order also exists because of you."
With that, the pure, immaculate white robe woven of cloud and studded with starlight on Lady Justice dissipated like morning mist before the proud sun.
Revealed was a sacred divine body more flawless than any gem in the universe, more perfect than any created thing.
The golden crown on her brow, symbol of law and majesty, slipped down to the smooth jade floor, ringing out in a clear chime.
Now, nothing else remained upon her. The great, alluring goddess of justice lifted her noble head and sealed the rest of Zeus's words with her vivid lips.
At this moment, no words were needed.
When true love descends—especially at the moment of union—all vows and promises are already spoken in silence.
The union of the Lord of Thunder with Justice and Order was the most sacred, most majestic justice in the universe, manifest in the truest, most primordial form in the world.
It was the perfect fusion of power and order, the highest accord of creation and guardianship. At that moment, the universe's very fabric of rules sang, pulsed, and offered lavish praise.
