Chapter 128 - raw emotions

As Mira walked away, the silence between them grew thicker, like a palpable fog. Leo stood frozen, his eyes fixed on her retreating figure. He felt a pang in his chest, a mixture of regret and longing. For a moment, he hesitated, wondering if he should follow her, apologize, and tell her the truth – that the kiss had meant something to him, that he was scared but drawn to her in ways he couldn't explain.

But his pride and fear of vulnerability held him back. He watched as Mira disappeared into the darkness, feeling a sense of emptiness wash over him. The words he'd spoken to her echoed in his mind, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he'd just pushed away the one person who truly understood him.

Leo took a deep breath, the cool night air filling his lungs, and turned to walk in the opposite direction. He didn't know where he was going, but he knew he needed to get away from the warehouse, away from the memories of Mira's tears and the weight of his own emotions.

As he walked, the warehouse lights blurred around him, and his thoughts swirled with questions. Had he made a mistake? Was he truly incapable of love, or was he just afraid to let someone in? The more he thought about it, the more he felt lost and alone.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, expecting it to be Mira, but it was Liam. "Hey, boss, we've got a situation," Liam's voice was urgent.

Leo's instincts kicked in, and he focused on the task at hand. "What is it?" he asked, his voice firm.

"We've received intel that one of our rivals is planning to make a move. We need to get ahead of it," Liam replied.

Leo's mind shifted into gear, and he felt a surge of adrenaline. This was what he knew how to do – handle crises, protect his people. For a moment, the pain and uncertainty of his encounter with Mira receded, replaced by a sense of purpose.

"I'll be right there," Leo said, already turning to head back to the warehouse.

As he walked back to the warehouse, he couldn't help but wonder if throwing himself into work was just a way to avoid dealing with his feelings for Mira. But for now, it was a distraction he desperately needed....
