Chapter 10 - Dungeonbound I

After my morning routine, I go to browse the guild's job board. What's this?

"Help Wanted by D-Rank Party. Barbarian, Magician, Rogue need fourth member to tackle dungeon. Equal reward split."

The guild receptionist introduces me to the party. As they said, the party comprises a hulking man clad in furs, a wiry man in loose clothing, and a young man in leather clothing with cargo pouches. "Pleased to meet you! We're Aura Midnight, a D-rank party! We don't have a fourth member, so we have to recruit temporary members to go to the dungeon."

"Pleased to meet you." We exchanged names and began talking about qualifications.

"What is your class or defining skills?"

"Unarmed and holy." The rogue seems a bit peeved.

"Holy? What a stroke of chance, the dungeon features a lot of undead! Can you use turn undead?"

"Easily."

"This is great! Our ideal fourth member is a healer, but that's entirely unrealistic for a D-rank party. Let me talk to my party, and if none of them have any objections, we'd love to have you."

I take out a blank codex I bought at the market. I've been steadily writing down the holy book of the One True God. This being another world, I won't be able to buy a copy anywhere, so I have to reproduce it from memory.

Some minutes later, two members of the party approach my table. "We talked it over, and we're ready to go now if you are."

"It would be my pleasure. Is someone missing?"

"Menos said he'd meet us at the entrance. He always does this."

"It must be one of those rogue things!" The barbarian laughs heartily and we set out.
