Chapter 60: Ichinose Honami Already Knows the Hidden Rules
Kiyomizu walked quickly through the hallway to his dorm, the night wind blowing in from the open windows, carrying the characteristic warmth of early summer.
"Manabu Horikita really is the student council president."
The image of the reflecting glasses in the student council office came to his mind again. Manabu Horikita sat behind the large desk, his gaze from behind the lenses so sharp it could pierce through a person's soul. The pressure he exuded came less from the authority of his position and more from his calm demeanor, which was exactly like Gendo Ikari. He was even secretly glad that Manabu hadn't made the signature gesture of steepling his hands in front of his chin, otherwise, he might have really turned and run.
The negotiation had gone surprisingly smoothly. It was as if Manabu could read his mind. He would often just start a sentence, and the other would have already grasped his full intention. The conversation, which he had expected to take an hour, had reached an agreement in less than twenty minutes.
What surprised Kiyomizu the most were the terms of the deal. He had expected to pay a huge sum of personal points, but instead, Manabu had just pushed up his glasses and said he owed him a favor, his eyes narrowing slightly behind the lenses, making his thoughts unreadable.
"This debt of favor doesn't feel simple..." Kiyomizu stopped, looking at the lights at the end of the dorm hallway. Based on his understanding of Manabu's character, he probably wouldn't make an excessive demand. Hopefully, it wouldn't be anything troublesome.
The night wind carried the shouts from the sports clubs on the distant field. Kiyomizu suddenly thought of Suzune Horikita's standoffish demeanor and couldn't help but smile wryly. They were brother and sister, yet one was so sophisticated and accomplished, while the other was so hopelessly difficult. The difference was just too great.
His phone suddenly buzzed with a new notification—an email from Manabu Horikita. They had exchanged contact information after their talk.
[Regarding our conversation today, I will give you an answer before the end of school on Thursday.]
[Kiyomizu, I have high hopes for you. Don't disappoint me.]
[If you perform well, the position of vice president will be yours before I leave.]
He stared at the screen for a long time. Seeing the first line, he unconsciously nodded. As expected of the president, his efficiency was very high. He was the student council president, after all. Getting a reply before the end of school on Thursday was already very fast. But when he saw the next two lines, his brow furrowed tightly. When had he ever said he wanted to join the student council?
[Kiyomizu Akira: President, I have no interest in the student council. Boxing is fine.]

But before he could complain more in his head, his phone vibrated slightly. It was a message on his alternate account, from Honami Ichinose. The content of the message was quite surprising:
[Sorry about this. We already know about the rules the school has been deliberately hiding, so we can't trade with you for one million points.]
This was unexpected. In just one day, she had managed to crack the hidden rules. After all, she wasn't some NPC in a game, but a living person—one of the sharp-witted honor students of Class B, and she possessed social skills that Kiyomizu could only dream of. If Class A could discover the hidden rules, and Class D could sense something was wrong, why couldn't Class B?
"This is getting more and more interesting..." Kiyomizu muttered to himself. He suddenly felt that this school was much more interesting than he had imagined. All four classes seemed to have formidable strengths. The game-loving Arisu Sakayanagi, the social genius Honami Ichinose, and the violent Kakeru Ryuen of Class C. Besides Class D, it seemed none of them were to be taken lightly.

When Kiyomizu returned to his room, he found that it was quite lively in Ayanokoji's room next door. Through the not-so-thin walls, he could faintly hear the sounds of several boys and girls talking. As for what they were saying, he couldn't quite make it out. Kiyomizu couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, feeling a bit surprised. He hadn't expected the usually silent Ayanokoji to be so popular in private.
He glanced at his phone; it was already 8 PM. The school rulebook clearly stated: "Boys are prohibited from staying on the girls' floor past 8:30 PM." But there was no mention of whether girls could stay in the boys' dorm for a long time. But the voices from next door clearly belonged to more than one person. It was most likely friends visiting. Probably Yamauchi, Ike, and a few others.
Just as Kiyomizu was about to take out his key card, the door to the next room suddenly opened. "Kiyomizu-kun, we've been waiting for you for a long time!"
A familiar voice called out. He turned and saw that it was Kushida standing at the door. She had her usual fake smile on, but her eyes held a hint of insistence. "I heard you had plans after school, so after we finished eating and singing karaoke, we came to Ayanokoji-kun's place to wait for you," she said, tilting her head slightly, her tone light. "After all, I asked Ayanokoji-kun, and he said you live next door."
Kiyomizu was silent for a moment. Before he could respond, Kushida took a step forward, her smile unchanging, but with a subtle sense of pressure. "Sorry, I know this might seem a bit pushy..." she lowered her voice slightly, looking directly at him, "...but no matter what, Kiyomizu-kun, you are indispensable to me."
Kiyomizu hadn't expected Kushida to be so persistent. He had just declined one invitation, and she had already cornered him at his dorm room. And Ayanokoji was the one who had revealed his whereabouts?
(I misjudged him this time. He always acts so detached, but he's quick to sell out his teammates. I was wrong about you, Ayanokoji.)
"...Alright."
After a moment of silence, Kiyomizu finally relented. After all, he had no plans for the rest of the night after coming back from the student council. Refusing again would just seem deliberate.
"Great! I knew you weren't intentionally rejecting me, Kiyomizu-kun! How could you ever reject me! Hehehe~"
Kushida patted her chest in relief, a brilliant smile on her face. But in her slightly narrowed eyes, Kiyomizu clearly caught a flash of "just as I thought" satisfaction.
