The old mage and Cassian clashed in midair with tremendous ferocity, scattering blinding sparks all around.
Their battle shifted from the sky down to the earth, right among the rubble. Their spells constantly collided to swallow, tear apart, and destroy one another, literally turning the already ruined capital into a cloud of dust.
Despite the agony of his damaged Dragon Heart, Cassian pushed the Storm Heart in his chest to its absolute limits. The energy pumping into his body was colossal, but still... his speed wasn't enough.
This old man standing before him wasn't an ordinary mage. He was a Demigod. On top of that, he was a hybrid of a vampire and an elf. As if all this disgusting and flawless genetic combination wasn't enough, the man wore an artifact that somehow slowed down Cassian's movements.
