Chapter 170 - Uma Musume: Your Uma Has A Problem! [170]

The morning stream ended on a pretty perfect note. In the middle of all the laughter, Kagura and Wudi-san talked it over and decided to call it there for today—time to end the stream for now.

In the middle, Nice Nature, Gold Ship, and Rudolf had wandered over one after another, so Kagura laughed and served breakfast to the kids who'd come to mooch a meal. And because she'd nagged them a little while telling them to eat properly, the title "Kagura Mom" was basically confirmed in her fanbase for good.

[Wudi]:I think it's great—this stream's numbers are really good! Shows everyone really likes chatting with Kagura-meimei. But I think next time the title can be 'First-person immersive experience: a day in the life of a Tracen Cafeteria auntie'

[Inari Kagura]:Hahahaha, Wudi-san is a genius! I think that idea's great! Let's try it next time!

[Wudi]:Oka~y, next time Kagura-meimei has time to stream, remember to hit me up! I'm gonna go catch up on sleep now! When I wake up I'll go make clips for Kagura-meimei!

[Inari Kagura]:Okay~ Thanks for your hard work!

Seeing Wudi-san stop replying, Kagura didn't bother her anymore.

Today's morning "work" was done. Thinking it over, she didn't have anything else urgent for the moment. Kagura decided to go take a walk at the park she visited often—maybe run a couple laps too, to keep up her daily training volume.

In the morning time slot, since the Uma Musume still had culture classes, you rarely saw Tracen students in the park. It was quiet.

"Ooh, it's little Kagura! Haven't seen you come to the park in a while!"

The drink-stand owner—driving her little cart around the park selling all kinds of beverages—saw Kagura show up again after a long absence and greeted her warmly as Kagura walked over.

"Good morning~ Owner-san. Yeah, it's been a bit. I've been busy lately. The usual—can I get an iced honey water?"

Maybe because she'd been influenced by Uma Musume tastebuds, Kagura realized she'd developed a weird fondness for honey. It wasn't like she'd disliked it before—she just liked it a lot more now. So every time she came to the park, she'd buy a honey drink from this owner.

"Shopkeeper-oneesan~ I want a honey drink! Extra strong!"

"Okay~ both of yours will be ready in a moment!"

Right as Kagura finished ordering, another youthful, crisp voice chimed in from beside her. It sounded familiar. Kagura turned her head—

Tokai Teio had slipped over at some point.

"Ah! Kagura-oneesan!! Long time no see! The snacks you gave me last time were sooo good!"

Tokai Teio bounced over in front of Kagura, looking at her with shining excitement.

"Long time no see, Teio-chan. Running into you here again. Oh—speaking of, isn't it class time right now? You don't have class today?"

Kagura lifted a hand and patted Tokai Teio's head. Teio didn't dodge at all—she leaned in like a kitten, enjoying it, rubbing against Kagura's palm.

"Today our class said we're coming out to observe and collect specimens, so we're doing activities in the park. Teio-sama's homework was turned in ages ago, so I had nothing to do! I came to see if there was anything tasty—and I didn't expect Kagura-oneesan to be here too~ Hehe, I'm so happy!"

"You little rascal… what is it? Why're you this excited to see me?"

"Onee-san, onee-san! Run with me again!! I've been training super hard lately! I'm definitely way stronger than before! This time I'll totally surprise you!!"

...

Tokai Teio lost again—by a delicate gap of about three lengths.

"Eh… what is it… why is it always just a little bit short…"

Like she'd trained for months and still made zero progress, Tokai Teio looked a bit gloomy. She kept staring at the finish line and at Kagura, like she wanted to find the answer somewhere.

"Teio-chan, you have to understand—these past few months you've been training, and these past few months onee-san has been training too. According to the 'Theory of Relativity of Exercise' proposed by the famous Russian biological expert, Vozjishuo-de… when we're both accelerating, that means we're not accelerating."

As she said it, Kagura stroked Teio's little head and explained with a completely serious face. She tried hard not to let the corners of her mouth lift. She was terrified that if she relaxed her expression even a little, she'd lose control. She knew people in Japan wouldn't get the joke, but just saying it nearly made her break.

"Eh… I see…"

Teio nodded, impressed despite not understanding.

She didn't know who that "expert" was, but Tokai Teio trusted this gentle, friendly, pretty oneesan a lot, so she didn't overthink it. If Kagura-oneesan was working hard too, then it made sense she'd get results too. Teio accepted the subtle gap, and inside her heart, set a new little goal: work even harder from here on out, and catch up to this oneesan.

"By the way!! Onee-san!! The Derby is coming up soon, right! Rudolf-ojousama is definitely racing too, right?!"

Having already thrown away her defeat like it didn't exist, Tokai Teio immediately clung to Kagura and asked.

"Mm… yeah. That's the plan. What about it?"

Thinking that Rudolf entering the Derby was already common knowledge, Kagura didn't bother being evasive.

"Then I'll definitely make time to watch! Onee-san has to save me a spot so I can get in!!"

"Ah… about that…"

Kagura wanted to agree immediately, but thinking about that impenetrable wall of reporters after the race, she really couldn't guarantee she'd be able to squeeze Teio in.

"Pleeease! Pleeease! Onee-san is the best~! Help me, okay?!"

Before Kagura could say anything, Teio just hugged her, grabbing her arm with sparkling eyes as she begged.

Alright! A wall of reporters, then a wall of reporters. Worst case, I'll just chase them off for this kid!

With every "onee-san" Tokai Teio called her, Inari Kagura's heart got happier—until she had an answer.

"Okay~ I'll do my best to save you a spot so you can come in and watch. As long as you come, I'll keep a place for you!"

"Yay!"

With Kagura's promise secured, Tokai Teio hugged her and bounced a few times. And then she noticed something—

This pretty oneesan wasn't even that much taller than her.

"Teio~ where are you? It's time to go back to school~"

A teacher's voice in the distance broke Tokai Teio's thoughts. Looks like she didn't have time to stay and chat here anymore.

"Your teacher's calling you back, Teio."

"Mm! I'm going now! Onee-san, don't forget to save me a spot, okay?!"

"Mm~ I won't. Go on, go on~"
