Within a vast space.
"Phew, finally finished copying it all."
Lucien looked at the three stacks of documents before him. Two of them were as tall as a person, while the third was slightly shorter.
These were records of several magical creatures, including Mooncalves, Diricawls, Acromantulas, Unicorns, and Centaurs.
"System, these are the observation records for five magical creatures."
Lucien patted the shortest stack of papers.
[Reviewing: Mooncalf, Diricawl, Acromantula, Puffskein, Centaur]
[All requirements met]
[Pet growth loan repaid!]
At that moment, the shortest stack of documents vanished.
Another loan paid off.
He still had two monthly loans left. One was for the Chimera manual he had just borrowed, which required him to first learn the Bio-Composite Transfiguration recorded within and create a Chimera with at least five biological characteristics.
The other was for the diligent little gardener's loan, and those Magical Chomping Cabbages were also growing quite well.
Hmm, last night he had happened to find a Mooncalf burrow in the Forbidden Forest and collected some Mooncalf dung. That would be enough fertilizer for the next few days.
Lucien glanced around the empty space.
Once he refined some small, portable Undetectable Extension Charm containers, he planned to collect a few Mooncalves. Then, gathering fertilizer would become much easier.
Lucien pulled a few small pebbles from his pocket and tapped them with his wand.
A desk and an armchair appeared in the empty space.
After sitting down, Lucien began to write a letter:
"Dear Mr. Newt Scamander,
Thank you for your guidance. I have successfully created an Undetectable Extension Charm container that can hold living creatures…
I have a question I'd like to ask. If I were to cultivate plants inside, what growth factors would be required….....
These documents are my daily observation records of magical creatures. Perhaps they are not extensive, but I wonder if you would consider them accurate...…"
He folded the letter, placed it in an envelope, and sealed it.
Then, he summoned Lumen, the cute Qilin, from the pet space.
Lucien took out the small satchel from last time, cast a basic Undetectable Extension Charm on it, and used magic to stabilize the space inside.
First, he guided the stack of documents as tall as a person to float into the satchel, then placed the letter inside as well.
Aside from the Mooncalves and Diricawls, information on Acromantulas and Centaurs was generally difficult to record. With these complete records, Newt should be able to recognize his understanding of magical creatures.
Cerberus were also rare, but unfortunately, there was only Fluffy as a single specimen. Still, that was acceptable—being too perfect might even seem suspicious.
Hmm, the main highlight was the Unicorns, especially the pregnant ones. Such records should be considered quite valuable.
He wondered whether Newt had conducted any research in this area. His observations might serve as a strong trump card.
Lucien glanced at the small satchel, then took a small cedarwood bottle from his pocket.
It contained Acromantula venom.
Strictly speaking, it was Aragog's venom. Acromantulas of that age were exceedingly rare, and their venom was even more precious.
It served both as proof and as a small gift.
Lucien placed the tiny bottle of venom into the satchel as well.
"Lumen, let's visit Mr. Newt during the day this time. Going at night last time really disturbed his rest."
He hung the satchel around Lumen's neck and gave it instructions.
"Alright, remember to greet Mr. Newt and Ms. Tina properly."
Lucien nodded, then added,
"You can chat more with Mr. Newt. Tell him about your hobbies and habits—it's fine. He's probably very curious about such things and will keep your secrets. Of course, that's if he's willing to talk."
"Understood, Master. I could 'see' last time that Mr. Newt is a good person—a very good person!"
Lucien smiled faintly. Lumen could sense goodwill and malice in living beings.
It was no surprise that Newt had earned the little Qilin's "good person" approval.
A Hufflepuff, a man who had helped Dumbledore thwart Grindelwald's plans multiple times, someone who had devoted his entire life to caring for magical creatures—of course, he was a good person.
"Master, shall I go now?"
"Can you leave directly from here?"
"Yes. It feels like there's an extra layer of obstruction here, as if the space is partially separated, but I can still go."
Lumen's Apparition was indeed different—it was more like merging with space itself, rather than simply passing through it.
If the Apparition used by wizards was like a fish swiftly swimming through water, then Lumen's was like becoming the water itself—more natural, more fluid, more rapid.
Lucien gently stroked Lumen's forehead.
"Hm, very impressive. By the way, are you still unable to confine a space to prevent other creatures from Apparating?"
"Not yet, Master. That's probably an ability I'll only master when I'm close to maturity."
It seemed that was a deeper application of spatial magic, but there was no hurry. Lucien didn't urgently need an anti-Apparition ability right now.
Besides, Lumen was still in his growth phase, when his development was fastest and his strength advanced most rapidly.
Perhaps in a few months, he would be able to.
After Lumen departed via Apparition, Lucien turned to the empty space.
"Let's start building a house."
He took out a small cloth bag and loosened its opening.
Under the pull of magic, massive stones and trees floated out from within.
"These stones dug from the Forbidden Forest and the trees I cut down can finally be put to use."
Lucien waved his wand. The massive stones were either cut into neat squares or sculpted into smooth cylinders.
The wood automatically transformed into planks and beams, then began assembling itself.
With a flick of his wrist, stone bricks stacked neatly into a foundation, while wooden pillars and frames connected with crisp, rhythmic clicks.
Once the foundation was complete, Lucien continuously cast Transfiguration.
Window frames curved into elegant bronze patterns, and blue tiles spread across the roof like overlapping scales.
From start to finish, the entire cottage took only a few hundred heartbeats to complete.
Lucien lightly tapped his wand, and a small bell formed on the door, ringing softly as it settled.
Gazing at the silver-black wand in his hand, Lucien couldn't help but sigh.
Magic was truly convenient.
What would take Muggles weeks or even months to build, he had completed alone in just a few minutes.
A small house was enough for now—he could add a few simple laboratories later when he had the time.
As for raising magical creatures, cultivating magical plants, and creating more complex or dangerous testing grounds, it would be better to separate them into individual Undetectable Extension Charm containers.
That way, they would be easy to carry, convenient to escape from if necessary, and any damage wouldn't cause too much collateral impact.
After all, this place was merely meant for rest and sleep.
Lucien glanced toward the edge of the empty space, where two starry blue curtains hung silently in midair.
Walking over, he reached out and drew them open.
Through the opening, he saw Terry in the dormitory, tidying up his belongings and getting ready for class.
"Good morning."
