Chapter 290 - 290: Mixed blood often means more unique talents and possibilities

In the Wizarding World, everyone had their own secret methods they were not comfortable revealing, especially when it involved Magic related to long-distance travel.

But this incident undoubtedly added another layer of mystery to Lucien in Riemann's eyes.

In fact, aside from that unattainable magical talent, the depth of knowledge and endless stream of unconventional methods displayed by this junior made even Riemann, who came from the Selwyn family, feel increasingly amazed.

Talent might be a gift from Merlin, but where had that inexplicably profound accumulation of knowledge and this incredible method of teleportation come from?

Riemann knew very well that Lucien came from a Muggle family, which only made it even stranger.

Regarding a round trip between two countries within half a day, Riemann's first reaction was an extremely advanced form of Apparition-type Magic. But that would be tremendously taxing and dangerous for a wizard.

The Floo Network?

International lines were complicated and required precise authorisation.

Portkeys?

They had to be prepared and reported in advance.

Riemann even briefly thought of Headmaster Dumbledore's phoenix, a legendary creature with the ability to teleport across vast distances.

He couldn't help casting a suspicious glance at Lucien.

This junior wouldn't happen to be hiding a phoenix as a pet, would he?

But the thought was too bizarre, and Riemann shook his head.

"As long as the materials are here. I have an appointment, so I'll be going now."

Lucien's words interrupted Riemann's thoughts.

Riemann immediately gave him an "I understand" smile, thinking that this junior really moved fast.

He had accidentally seen Lucien and Beauxbatons' star student, Fleur Delacour, walking and chatting in the castle gardens before.

"Do you need your big bro to help with anything? Like providing some advice?" Riemann asked half-jokingly.

Lucien actually pulled a neatly folded piece of parchment from his pocket and handed it over.

"Actually, I do. Here, help me fill this out."

Riemann took it and unfolded it, and the title that met his eyes made the corner of his mouth twitch:

"Hogwarts Valentine's Day Event Interest Survey, Special Edition"

Riemann's expression hovered somewhere between laughter and tears.

Lucien really was academic, wasn't he? He even needed to do a questionnaire before going on a date with a girl...

But then, remembering that the other party was a Ravenclaw, Riemann felt relieved.

After all, Ravenclaws were sometimes rather unconventional.

...

In a delicate little garden on the edge of Beauxbatons Castle, the accumulated snow lay like a thin layer of icing, evenly covering the shrubs, sculptures, and benches.

Fleur took a small wooden box from Lucien's hand, carefully sealed with Magic. Opening it a crack, she felt the unique magical fluctuations emanating from within, and surprise and joy couldn't help appearing on her face.

"Living rhizomes of Purple Moon Vine? How did you find them so quickly?"

This was exactly the rare material she urgently needed, one that only grew stably in certain hidden valleys in Britain.

Not long ago, Fleur had hurriedly gone to ask Madame Maxime about possible acquisition channels. She had not expected Lucien to deliver it into her hands in the blink of an eye.

"It's thanks to a friend of mine," Lucien said with a wave of his hand.

Seeing Fleur in a hurry at the time, he had remembered that this plant happened to grow in the depths of the Forbidden Forest, so he had brought some back along the way.

At the same time, he also thought of Lumen.

In fact, after nearly two years of growth, both his own strength and Lumen's were no longer what they used to be. Perhaps it was time to find a suitable opportunity for Lumen to officially make an appearance.

When he first entered the Magical World, he had prioritised caution and had not truly exposed Lumen to the public.

But just as the world knew that phoenix tears could heal wounds and that the ashes of rebirth had many wondrous uses, the world also knew that Dumbledore had a phoenix, yet no one dared to target Fawkes.

Because they could not beat Fawkes, and they certainly could not beat the old man behind Fawkes.

Fleur thanked him sincerely and carefully put the box away.

The two walked and talked in the quiet, snowy garden, their conversation naturally extending into the fields of Magic and Alchemy.

As they chatted, Fleur suddenly stopped. Moonlight shone on her exquisite profile, and she hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"Lucien, there's something I've been curious about... That night, when you were improving the Fountain of Beauty, and even earlier, when you used fire to process the Abraxan feed, I... I seemed to feel a very special resonance. It wasn't a normal magical fluctuation. It felt more like some kind of call or attraction."

Lucien was somewhat surprised to hear this. He carefully asked Fleur about the specific timing and sensation of the resonance she had felt.

"It's most noticeable when fire appears in your hand," Fleur added, her gaze unconsciously falling on his right hand.

Lucien pondered for a moment, then raised his right hand. With a slight shift of thought, his Magic began to flow, and the crimson fire Magic sigil on the pad of his middle finger clearly emerged, emitting a warm and restrained glow.

"Yes! That's the feeling!" Fleur's blue eyes widened slightly as she confirmed it.

Lucien understood, a hypothesis forming in his mind.

"Fleur, are you particularly good at fire magic? Or rather, is your perception of the fire element naturally sharper than most people's?"

Fleur nodded.

"Yes. My grandmother was a Veela, so I suppose I inherited it from her. Besides fire, I'm also quite sensitive to the element of wind."

"That explains it." Lucien nodded slightly, confirming his thoughts.

He recalled records about pure-blooded Veela. Under extreme emotions, they could transform into a bird-headed form and unleash scorching fire.

As a mixed-blood, it was unclear whether Fleur possessed similar transformation abilities, but her affinity for fire had indeed been inherited.

And what Lucien invoked and harmonised through the Magic sigil was an extremely pure and active fire element, which created a unique attraction for Fleur.

It was very similar to Thunderbirds, Kelpies, and other magical creatures sensitive to elements.

The topic naturally turned to Veela bloodlines and the special nature of mixed-blood Wizards.

According to Fleur, besides the Magic of human Wizards, she could indeed perform a small amount of racial Magic originating from her Veela bloodline, but the number was limited, and its power was far inferior to that of a true Veela.

"I only have a quarter of the bloodline," she explained. "For example, the racial Magic my mother can use is much greater than mine, though even she cannot use all of it."

"Mixed blood often means more unique talents and possibilities," Lucien said, recalling records from the History of Magic.

For instance, the legendary wizard Merlin was said to have the bloodlines of humans and Nightmares.

This allowed him to perform many mysterious Magics unique to Nightmares. There were even legends claiming that he could cross time through dreams to glimpse the distant future, learning knowledge and Magic from future eras...
