Chapter 1 - Succeed?

On a sunny day, the weather was refreshing and clear from many clouds. In a wide field between forests of a mountain stood a lone tree. Beneath its shade, a man sat calmly. His face hidden by the shadow of his straw hat, he sat beside a huge sword firmly planted in the ground.

Someone came and placed his hand on the man's straw hat. He settled down beside the man and watched the sky. His blue eyes sparkled with reflections of the sky. The man smiled.

"The weather is nice today."

The person next to him, with messy and long dark blue hair, smiled gently.

"Did you succeed, Yakoza?"

The wind blew the answer away.

The clouds increased in the sky slowly. It started to rain. The person gradually overshadowed beneath the tree. Multiple mysterious figures were visible in his eyes. His voice splintered into multiple scary, cold tones.

"Actually… We ever existed."

The person vanished into the darkness, leaving no trace behind.

Yakoza woke up, leaning against a container in a narrow side street of high buildings. He was wrapped in a massive old and worn white cloak with his straw hat on his head. His massive sword lay beside him.

The city was overwhelmed by screams and cries. Panic and fear filled their voices. The city was under massive destruction. Sounds of explosions suspended the voices.

Yakoza rose calmly and stepped out from the side street. While the terrified populace fled the devastation, he walked steadily through the panicked crowd toward the chaos.

Ahead, a monstrous creature… An immense, serpentine beast with thousands of teeth and horns, wreaked havoc. Its massive body smashed through buildings and destroyed half the city.

At the center of the street stood a cliff of shattered building ruins. Yakoza planted his huge sword in the ground. As he walked calmly on that cliff, the creature continued its rampage, pierced through buildings and earth with its immense body. Its vast length was woven throughout the city.

He appeared with terrifying majesty, his voice calm laced with intimidation.

"We both know that you understand me. You've one chance left."

The colossal monster began to withdraw, pulling its massive body back from the ruins it had pierced. Yakoza raised his hand, fingers spread wide, and declared.

"I'll give you 5 seconds to leave."

As it recoiled and took flight, Yakoza's fingers slowly closed. By the time his hand formed a fist, the beast was still within the city's borders. He sighed with exasperation.

"Here we go again…"

He extended his hand, brought his middle finger toward his thumb and flicked it. Then, he walked back. As a massive wave of destruction appeared, a tsunami of blood surged towards his direction. Yakoza drew his massive sword from the ground and held it in front of himself.

"Let's do this…"

The tsunami engulfed him. He found himself in a sea of blood. Dark hands and arms coiled around him, tightening their painful grip. Intimidating voices echoed around him. The hands dragged him deeper in the sea toward his memories.

"All is Your Fault! Death is waiting…for your soul…"

The sticky, unyielding grip of the dark hands rendered Yakoza nearly powerless. Despite his faltering strength, he struggled against them, trying to break free. The hands, however, dragged him into a memory.
