Orion walks through the entrance of the dungeon. Not stopped by anyone, in fear of what he will do. His sons following him into the first floor of the dungeon. Once inside they made short work of the first floor monster. To easy a work.
"To think they were struggling with these weak monsters." A marine from the middle of the formation said. "Quiet brother these are ment for the weaker adventures." The one that was trying to quiet his brother notice their father turned to them. Both immediately straightened back into formation. "Heed your brothers words son. These are the floors ment for weak adventures that you are stronger than. If you are eager for battle son come to the front and danger shall come to us." The marine now had all the eyes of his brothers on him. Making him feel uncomfortable with the sudden attention.
He tried to change the direction of the attention back to his father. "No need father I am fine where I am. It is just I was expecting more. Even for the first floors these beasts are like ants. Numerous but easily crushed even by weaker people. I am confused as to how adventurers would struggle here." Orion had an explanation with some of his experience. "My son you have to understand that there are foolish young men that come here. They think with nativity that it will be a worry free adventure. Making the mistake of thinking the dungeon is just another place to have fun.
Even you all know to question and see if your foe possesses the capability of hurting you. The adventurers of this world do not see it that way. They make their way through here without caution. Leading them to overestimate themselves and underestimate their opponents. The leading cause for most of their deaths." Orion looked ahead and held his fist up. All the marines holted causing Lili to stop seeing all the marines stop around her. She looked forward to Orion who was looking down a hole. Without turning Orion told his sons.
"I trust your skills and strength to get to the next floors. I will wait for all of you at the adventurer city floor. Rex guide your brothers and sister to the city." Leaping into the hole all of them saw him fall till they heard him reaching the bottom.
Boom!
A massive explosion was heard echoing through the first and fourth floors. Orion step out of dust and debris he made from his fall. He made his way to the adventurer city in the dungeon. Heading back to Lili and the others. The sons of Orion were now getting to know their new little sister. (Technically aunty but yeah most of them are mentally older then her.) Rex at the front of the group found some stairs leading down. Some of the marines were picking up the items they got from their kills.
The marines at the front of the formation had shields and power swords. The bulwarks had the Latin words. "Fratres meos corpore et anima protego." Which translates to I protect my brothers with body and soul. Engrave with gold onto their shields. And on their power swords the words in normal English were engraved. Some had wrath of the empress but the others had the same protector's heart.
These engravings showed what they did in life and what they do. Protecting their brothers no matter what. Lili seeing no danger coming for them headed to the front to ask. "What does your shield and swords engravings say?" The marines then looked at her and under their mask smiled a bit. "Just what we, as bulwarks swore to do for our brothers and cousins. Be the sword and shield for our brothers and cousins. The first to face the danger no matter what it be." Lili hearing this had her smile dimming a little.
She remembered her old familia. How each member would throw each other at the enemy if it ment they could live. The amount of time she had to run for her life as she was left behind to face what ever monster the group she was with pussed off. Once she left memory lane, she saw how she was about to fall into a hole. It was small to the marines but to her it was big enough for her to fall in and meet the next floor below. Before she fell fully her arm was caught.
Looking up she saw a black metal guantlet filled most of the hole but grabbing her. She then felt light as a feather being lifted so easily by the marine. Looking at the owner of the hand it was one she didn't remember meeting or talking to. Each marine possessed something to tell each apart to brother or cousins. For instance the one holding Lili had a golden skull place upon his helmet. A small detail to tell him apart from his brothers.
Lili looking at her savior said "thank you." The marine just told her in a monotone voice. "Watch where you step little one or else you might get hurt." The one that saved her was actually her designated watcher. Assigned this role by captain rex. To ensure Lili would not be lost or hurt during the extermination of the first floors. The marines slowly made there way to the lower floors.
It took 6 hours of constant moving where Lili was held most of the time to make sure she kept up. Sam who was her watcher held her while she rested and ran with the rest of his brothers. They rushed to the lower floors to meet their father faster then he expected. By the time they got to floor 14 all the floors above them spawned no monsters. The reason? They were so efficient at killing the monster no matter what the dungeon threw at them. Be it mutant or enhanced monsters they took it down in seconds or at most 2 mins. If the dungeon didn't absorb the monsters the entire dungeon would be filled with dead bodies and mushy mountains of flesh.
The same now was happening to the 15-16 floors. The dungeon stopped spawn monsters after a horde of super Minotaurs did nothing. Well it did do something it made the dragons finally stretch their wings and had every marine fight a 1v1 with a Minotaur. Lili who was awake and far from the fight. Watched in amazement at the strength of the marines. The dragon marines were a experimental core. Each marine had the strength almost to a drednught. Making these Minotaurs the only things to give them a sort of challenge. But even the biggest Minotaur could barely move a single marine from his place.
One Minotaur tried cleaving a dragon only to have it break on his scale like armor. After what can only be baths of blood the dragon marines were covered head to toe. Bloody and eager for a challenge. So the final floor was ahead. To give them the final boss that would bring them their first real fight. And boy where they going to get it.
As they marched into the room the floor rumbled, the Goliath spawned. "Be ready men the dungeon is finally giving us a worthy challenge." Rex under his helmet smiled like a madman. Battle hungry after the lack luster of the hordes of simple beasts. Rex then order his men to get into the right formation. "Bulwarks shield your brothers by surrounding the Goliath. The rest of you hit the Goliath with rocks or get in close with your spears. Make sure not to block any openings for group attacks." Slowly they chipped at the Goliaths health. Each blow causing it to get angrier and angrier. The Goliath then took a hit to the back of its legs. Causing it to fall to its knees.
"The beast is down let's crush it's skull and bones." Sam who charged in after making sure Lili was at a safe distance. He left his spear switching to his fists and started pummeling the head of the Goliath. The Goliath biteing at all that got close. Sam jumped and climbed at the top of the skull. Loud bangs came from the all over the Goliaths body. Like a thundering storm all the dragons took to the Goliath. Each blow tearing flesh and breaking bone.
Till finally with one last roar the Goliaths body slowly faded away. The smaller chunks of flesh that scattered the arena disappeared. The Goliath didn't drop much only a single tooth. The tooth being the size of a space marine. Rex looked at the rest of his men. He walked up to the tooth grabbing it. He then tossed it away in front of a marine with a skull on his shoulder pauldron. "Ethanal you had the most hits and most destruction to the Goliath. You deserve this reward." Ethanal look at his brothers all nodding and clapping. "To Ethanal!" They all shouted in joy and cheer.
After all were check for wounds and injuries. They assessed their weapons and armor. After making sure all was good they continued to the meeting place their father set. Floor 18 after walking into the floor all started to march in formation to their father. Who after getting on the same floor was on their hud. A rhythm of feet moving in unison had the small town of adventurers curious on what was happening.
While the adventure city in the dungeon was not suffering lack of information. They had plenty sources for it. They just couldn't believe all that was given to them. But the flags that were held by some marines. The also huge party of men lead by two men and a little girl was a sight. "Who the hell are they? They a new familia or something?" The adventurer was then told who they were by his friend to his side. "They are the new familia that came a couple weeks ago. But I didn't expect them to grow an small army this quick. I think their leader was the level 10 guy Orion."
Looking at his friend in shock. "Those story were true?! That guy really is level 10!" As the adventurers had their world turned upside down. Orion was sitting upon rocks that look like a throne. His sons finally made it to him. They all saluted him putting a hand over their heart with a thump. Rex looking at his father said "The sons of Orion are her father. Ready for next assignment."
Chuckling Orion stands and says to his son. "Rest up my sons tomorrow we set up a base." With that all his sons visibly relax their posture. All separated to do what ever they wanted. Some set up tents others set up a perimeter. Lili excitement shined on her face as she smile so bright it looked like the sun. She ran to Orion wanting to tell him her journey with his sons.
