Evelyn had no interest in talking with the man who had kicked her out of his house, disowned her, and humiliated her in front of the whole nation.
The ringing stopped.
She exhaled, preparing to finally focus on work.
But before her laptop even finished booting, her phone buzzed again.
This time, it was a text.
"Evelyn! When did you gain the audacity to mingle with the Knights? Have you lost your mind?"
She froze for a split second, then burst out laughing. The absurdity of it all was too much.
"Lost my mind? He must be joking. Right!?"
This was the same man who told her she no longer existed in his world.
The same man who cared more about his reputation than his daughter.
And now, suddenly, he had the nerve to lecture her about who she was "mingling" with?
She shook her head in disbelief.
Maybe he finally realized he was wrong?
Or,
Maybe the stress from his precious mistress, Lana, had finally eaten his brain cells.
