Chapter 181 - The New York Battle, Avengers 4 Edition

At Mount Hua, Yue Buqun stared at the 3.0 version of his internal energy's effects. After a moment of silence, he unhesitatingly chose to switch cultivation methods.

Why bother with 3.0? he thought. Just switch to the 4.0 effect directly.

Meanwhile, while Bai Ye was chatting with the others in the chat group, three days quickly passed. The results of the voting were already in.

After various reports from different regions, a total of 2 billion people had voted to awaken.

This massive number was a huge undertaking compared to the 20,000 awakening machines that had been hastily manufactured.

The whole world now knew that a war with an alien civilization was imminent. To ensure sufficient self-defense capabilities, each region was striving to awaken as many people as possible before the conflict.

Soon, arrangements were made, and the first batch of awakening personnel was selected through a "fair and just" lottery.

The list of names was as follows: Victor Von Doom, Kingpin, Stark, Peter Parker…

"Well, the lottery is indeed conducted fairly and impartially, based on the order of power and status."

Inside the White House in Washington, as the awakening instrument finished its use, Stark's miniature reactor ceased providing power, and the orange light within faded away.

Stark stepped out of the instrument, gently twisting his neck. He didn't feel any significant changes in his body.

"When will the ability awaken?" Stark asked Reed.

"To allow the body to adapt, it's estimated to take 1 to 3 days," Reed replied.

"Is that so? I hope no superpowers appear that make me ugly; otherwise, I'll have to give up," Stark hoped.

Meanwhile, Kingpin couldn't wait any longer, saying, "Hurry up and start it. It's my turn."

Rodriguez, standing beside him, was also secretly looking forward to it.

Just as Kingpin was about to enter the machine, a staff member reported, "Mr. Ebony Maw reports that the teleportation device is ready, Mr. President."

The expressions on the faces of those present froze. Kingpin also stopped his movement toward the machine.

Rodriguez nodded slightly and said, "I understand. I'll be there shortly."

"What a pity. If it were only a day or two later, we could have seen two billion superpowered individuals fighting against aliens," Stark sighed.

"Why don't we delay activating the portal? The initiative is with us, after all," Kingpin suggested.

"Forget about it. It's better to resolve this sooner," Stark shook his head and opened the group chat, @ing Bai Ye.

[Playboy]: @DeepBlue, Ebony Maw's teleportation device is ready. When will you be coming over?

"Is it ready already?" A calm voice sounded from behind Stark, startling him.

"What have you been up to lately? You've been so elusive," Stark said. "New York has been completely cleared out, and the teleportation device is on top of my company's new building, but why would you even think of that?"

Stark looked at Bai Ye, not understanding why he would set the teleportation address in New York.

"Well…it's like recreating a plot point, I guess," Bai Ye said, his words making no sense to the others.

The next moment, as the world spun, everyone in the White House was astonished to find themselves instantly in New York, right in front of Ebony Maw's teleportation device.

Stark was surprised by the drastic change in the environment, wondering what level of power Bai Ye had reached now.

"Alright, let's get started then," Bai Ye said to Ebony Maw.

The other immediately nodded, then activated the device. The next moment, a blue pillar of light shot into the sky, exploding into a hundred-meter-wide pale blue spatial passageway in the sky.

At the same time, because New York City had been emptied long ago, the streets were deserted and silent.

But after a moment, four men of different builds and appearances suddenly appeared on a street.

Stark took a deep breath, gazing at the familiar streets of New York. Everything looked exactly as it had ten years ago. Beside him stood the Hulk, Captain America, and Ant-Man.

"Wait… why is it so quiet? Did something go wrong with the time travel?" Ant-Man asked, surprised.

The other three, lost in their own thoughts, were jolted back to reality. The Hulk, now merged with Banner, surveyed their surroundings. The streets were orderly, but eerily silent, like a ghost town. Not a soul was in sight.

"That's right, we're back in New York during the Chitauri invasion," Stark murmured, looking up to see a blue portal looming overhead.

From the portal, countless Chitauri poured out, swarming towards them.

"Has our past been altered?" Captain America wondered.

"No, it hasn't. I explained this before," Stark, looking somewhat older, calmly shook his head. "What we're doing isn't going back in time. We're entering a parallel spacetime with a similar past."

"For example, Thor and Black Widow, even though they time-traveled with us, are in a different parallel universe than we are."

"It's possible a new variable has appeared in this parallel spacetime, or perhaps our universe is the anomaly. Either is possible," Stark said gravely.

"What do we do now? Everything's different," Ant-Man fretted, perhaps even the location of the Infinity Stones had changed.

"Don't panic. At least the Space Stone's location hasn't changed," Stark said, shaking his head. "Friday, hack into the current network and compare the changes between the two timelines."

"Yes, Sir." A calm voice echoed in their ears, and soon enough, Friday began to report.

"Sir, according to our comparison of the historical events between the two timelines, this universe was different from our original one from the very beginning, possessing multiple different races, such as Mutants and Vampires." Friday explained.

Surprise flashed in their eyes; they'd never heard of any of this.

"However, according to my investigation, although the history of the entire planet is different, the historical context generally aligns. The official divergence can be traced back to the appearance of a man named Bai Ye three months ago."

"Bai Ye?" They murmured the name. The next moment, a projection emerged from Stark, displaying a visual representation of all the major events of the past few months.

"I was appointed planetary president by that Bai Ye?" The middle-aged Stark couldn't keep his composure, his face full of astonishment.

The other three all stared at this timeline, which was different from their own, and which contained far too many facts that surprised them. The entire Earth was actually ruled by one person.

Boom!

Just as they were browsing the movie footage version of "Starting from Marvel and Becoming Infinitely Stronger" up to chapter 179 through Friday, a huge roar came from afar.

The group looked up at the sound, and the Chitauri fleet in the sky suddenly suffered a heavy blow, instantly exploding into pieces that filled the sky.

"Who did that?" The group was shocked.

Friday replied calmly, "Sir, it was Bai Ye."
