Chapter 169 - Rings and TVA

The anti-gravity platform on the Malibu cliff, which had witnessed the legendary union of Tony and Pepper, seemed to have been imbued with a mysterious "marriage-inducing" magnetic field.

Not long after (as Tony put it, "precisely slotted into the highest priority on the schedule"), the entire Arbitrators Alliance was mobilized once again—this time for another leader, Chen Tian.

The details of Chen Tian's proposal were classified as "SSS-Rank Secret" within the Alliance, but the scattered fragments of information that leaked out were enough to paint a grand picture far beyond human imagination:

Location: No longer a simple cliff platform.

Chen Tian seemed to have integrated spatial folding, dimensional projection, and reality stabilization technologies, directly "anchoring" the ceremony venue near a magnificent minor planet belt composed of stardust and ice crystals at the edge of the Solar System.

Beneath their feet, swirling cosmic dust clouds glowed with a faint blue light, and above, an infinite waterfall of stars cascaded down.

The visual impact was so stunning that Tony grudgingly admitted, "That kid really has a twisted talent for venue design... It's just a tiny bit 'more low-key' than when I first put on the Mark-Eclipse Edition in Monaco back in the day."

Scene: The guest list was truly cosmic.

The mages of Kamar-Taj constructed stable dimensional barriers, and the core Arbitrators members wore their most formal battle suits or attire (Captain America even polished his vibranium shield to use as a mirror).

The "entertainment zone" where Zero was located was enveloped by several layers of phase-shifting barriers, through which the explosive music and energy flashes were faintly visible.

It was said that halfway through the wedding, a small interstellar pirate group, blundering into the area, was mistaken by Zero for "entertainment," and was promptly "cleaned up," leaving not even a speck of wreckage.

Rings: This was the most intriguing highlight!

Chen Tian did not follow the traditional approach of a single ring for all.

For the four distinctly different ladies, he prepared four unique engagement rings, each a crystallization of art and technology (or magic).

Although the specific details were kept secret, scattered intelligence pieced together a rough outline:

2B: The main body of the ring was made of an unknown metal that could permanently maintain a cool temperature, presenting a deep silver-gray luster.

The center of the setting was not inlaid with a diamond, but a miniature, high-purity energy core, emitting a soft yet never-extinguishing faint blue light, its light arranged not randomly, but in a precise, circuit-board-like geometric structure, symbolizing her precise core as an android and her never-ending soul fire.

The inside of the ring was engraved with a string of extremely tiny binary code, which Friday deciphered to mean, "The end of logic, is you."

Wanda: This ring seemed to be carved from solidified Chaos magic itself.

The band was a materialized flowing scarlet energy, like liquid ruby slowly rotating and changing shape.

The core was a deep red, Strange gem shard (source unknown, rumored to be related to a certain dark magic demon god) suspended within it, constantly splitting and rejoining; when activated by magic, tiny energy lightning bolts surrounded it.

The entire ring emitted an indescribable magical fluctuation and life rhythm, as if a small World was being born and annihilated within it.

It was named "Scarlet Vow."

Kiana: A ring full of vitality and the beauty of the starry sky.

The band was crafted from pure moonstone, like solidified moonlight, adorned with tiny, glittering crystal dust resembling real stars.

The main stone was a large, perfectly cut, aquamarine gem that seemed to contain a miniature Nebula within it (rumored to be a special crystal Chen Tian collected near a neutron star).

Deep within the gem's core, an extremely faint but incredibly resilient golden light flowed, symbolizing the unextinguishable flame.

The ring was designed in the shape of light wings, fitting the maiden's agility.

It was privately called "Light of the Firmament."

Bayonetta: The ultimate blend of seductive charm and deadly danger.

The band was made of a peculiar, jet-black alloy that absorbed all light, feeling cold like snake scales.

The large main stone was a deep purple-black gem (rumored to be the crystallized eyeball of a fallen demon god); the inside of the gem was not chaotic, but had spiral dark patterns precisely arranged like gun rifling, which would refract a cold, sharp metallic luster at certain angles.

The sides of the setting cleverly extended into miniature, exquisite yet blade-sharp demon wing decorations.

It was said that when activated, this ring could transform into the hilt of a special weapon (unconfirmed).

Its name was "Witch's Imprint."

The specific process of the four proposals became top-secret files existing only in the memories of those involved and a very small number of core members.

People only knew that each proposal was accompanied by a different cosmic spectacle (for example, for Kiana, a galaxy-spanning meteor shower was summoned; for Bayonetta, a temporary passage to an ancient demon gladiator arena was opened for her to "have her fill"), each precisely suited the woman's characteristics and preferences, and each... made Chen Tian look even more exhausted than after fighting a dimensional war.

When Chen Tian finally completed this epic "quadruple proposal" and returned to the Arbitrator Tower, Tony was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, leisurely sipping tea brewed by Pepper.

"Yo, 'schedule' progress one-quarter done?" Tony raised an eyebrow, his smile full of the schadenfreude of someone who'd been there, "All the rings delivered? Didn't mix them up? Like putting the 'Imprint' for the Witch on the robot girl's hand?"

Chen Tian collapsed onto the sofa, too lazy to even take off his eye mask, and weakly grunted, "Precise delivery... more tiring than aiming for an eye demon's pupil."

Rhodes happened to walk in and burst out laughing at the remark: "Brother, be content! This is a sweet burden! The entire Alliance is helping you with 'strategic deployment'! Next proposal, want me to help you apply for a planet-annihilation cannon as a fireworks background?"

Chen Tian grabbed a throw pillow and threw it at Rhodes's face, expressing his "gratitude" for this "strategic deployment" with his actions.

And his "SSS-Rank Schedule" had only just barely advanced a tiny bit.

Since Chen Tian proposed to the four beauties, time flew by, the World was generally peaceful, and there were no major disturbances in the Universe.

The Arbitrators were busy every day cleaning up the endless bizarre criminals on Earth—bank robbers, low-level villains causing destruction, like an endless game of whack-a-mole.

As for the vast Universe? As long as it didn't hit Earth, Chen Tian and the Arbitrators couldn't care less.

In a blink of an eye, it was 2018.

A new member joined the Arbitrators—Doctor Strange.

Yes, Strange, who should have debuted in 2017, was delayed by a year before officially making his appearance.

It's unclear if he lacked singing and dancing talent.

Ahem, seriously speaking, it was mainly because without the "Dormammu" final graduation exam, under the "high-pressure special training" of Master Wang, he officially came out and joined the Arbitrators a year later than originally planned.

The Eye of Agamotto, that supreme artifact?

Master Wang stated: "The young man still needs more practice; let's talk when he can truly prove himself capable of handling things alone."

Strange could only take his Sling Ring and first handle minor dimensional threats.

Oh, right, there's one more thing worth mentioning in 2018.

Old Man Hank Pym finally rescued his wife, the original Wasp, Hope van Dyne, from the Quantum Realm.

The process was unremarkable; there was no quantum virus, no zombie crisis, just a smooth rescue.

It's just that Hope... stayed in the Quantum Realm for too long, becoming a bit taciturn and not very talkative.

Chen Tian knew why; there seemed to be a perverted entity called "Kang" in the Quantum Realm.

Kang? Chen Tian knew the name and knew it was a big threat, but the key was—this guy had countless clones! Spread throughout the entire timeline!

Who knew which Kang would jump out and cause trouble?

Moreover, before Chen Tian transmigrated, he heard that Marvel had cut the "Kang Dynasty" storyline (it seemed the actor playing Kang self-destructed?).

Quantum Realm? Chen Tian was truly unfamiliar with it.

Finding Kang? Finding a needle in a haystack would be easier.

Chen Tian threw up his hands: "Whatever, if Kang isn't afraid of death, let him come! Just don't mess with me."

However, this was Marvel. If Chen Tian didn't look for trouble, trouble would precisely find others.

Who was so "lucky"?

Deadpool. Wade Wilson.

This red-and-black-clad, motor-mouthed troublemaker who popped out of a neighboring movie Universe.

One day in 2019, Deadpool once again pestered his good neighbor—Spider-Man.

He and Spider-Man were already very good friends; he had built a good relationship with Spider-Man after Tony's wedding, when Chen Tian arranged for him to go to Xandar for his honeymoon.

The kind Spider-Man didn't know how to refuse the 'perfect Deadpool' whose cancer and avocado-like appearance had been restored by Chen Tian using the Infinity Stones.

So, they teamed up.

The two had just joined forces to smash a group of clueless bank robbers (the process was full of Deadpool's trash talk and Spider-Man's "Oh, my God!").

The joy of victory made the two chatterboxes ecstatic, sitting side by side on the edge of a skyscraper, dangling their legs, and began an impassioned post-game review facing the setting Sun (or perhaps the rising Sun? Deadpool didn't care about time) (mainly Deadpool talking, Spider-Man complaining).

"Hey, pajama baby! Was my 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre style spinning kick' cool just now? Crunchy!" Deadpool gesticulated wildly.

"Mr. Wade! That was too dangerous! And you almost kicked me!" Spider-Man protested.

"Details! All details! The point is the move was cool enough! Hey, do you think if I wore my underwear on the outside, I'd look more like Superman? Although I'm much cooler than him, oh, except for Henry Sup..."

Just as Deadpool was spitting and Spider-Man was sighing, a rectangular, orange-yellow portal suddenly ripped open in the air without warning.

Whoosh!

A group of emotionless guys in uniform, holding Strange-looking instruments, emerged.

They all had the 'T.V.A' emblem pinned to their chests.

"What the heck? Tax audit?" Deadpool was startled, then he saw the uniform clearly, "Oh, wow! TVA? Time Variance Authority cops? Hey! Spider-Man, look! It's a live TVA! Quick, let's take a picture!"

Spider-Man's Spider-Sense instantly exploded! Danger! Extreme danger! All the hairs on his body stood on end.

The bald man leading the TVA, expressionless, didn't waste words, raising his hand and shooting a highly electrified... well, let's call it a "stun plug" at a certain indescribable part below Deadpool's lower back, who was still posing.

"Ow—!!! My butt!!!" Deadpool let out a Earth-shattering, high-pitched scream, his whole body convulsing from the electricity, like a fish out of water, instantly losing his combat ability.

"You bastards! That's my... my sacred back garden!!"

The TVA action team was well-trained, two men stepped forward, skillfully dragged the still twitching and smoking Deadpool into the portal.

The bald man's cold gaze turned to the still bewildered Spider-Man, raising the instrument in his hand—a stick-like object that looked like it could erase memories.

Spider-Sense screamed wildly! Spider-Man's body reacted faster than his brain, he flicked his wrist, and a web shot out, sticking to a distant antenna, then he yanked hard!

"Whoa ah ah ah! Sorry! Excuse me!" He shot out like a human cannonball, narrowly avoiding the instrument's range, and disappeared among the towering buildings in a few swings, moving so fast that only afterimages remained.

The TVA agents looked in the direction Spider-Man disappeared, frowning, but it seemed capturing Deadpool was their top priority.

The portal quickly closed, leaving only a faint smell of burning and Deadpool's faint screams echoing in the air.

Still shaken, Spider-Man's heart was pounding in his throat, hiding in a dark ventilation duct, immediately connecting to the emergency communication channel, his voice still trembling:

"Chen! Mr. Chen! Something big happened! TVA! It's the TVA! They took Mr. Wade! Right in front of me! They... they used a very scary weapon to electrocute his butt and then dragged him away! They even tried to brainwash me! It was terrifying!"

Arbitrator Tower, office.

Chen Tian sat in the large office chair, his eyelids half-closed, mechanically signing documents.

Tony's position was now his.

Why?

Just because that scoundrel Tony threw out a line: "Do you want to hug your niece Morgan? If so, sit here!"

Chen Tian conceded.

Beside him, 2B stood tall, her silver hair meticulously styled, her black and white long dress outlining a perfect curve.

Her fingertips flew across the virtual light screen, filtering, categorizing, and processing a massive stream of information for Chen Tian, with efficiency comparable to a supercomputer.

Her optical lens occasionally swept over Chen Tian, who was buried in signing documents, carrying a warm smile.

"Husband, there's an abnormal fluctuation in the quarterly dimensional energy report, pointing to star sector K-7."

"Annotation: Have Carol set up an observation post, report only if it exceeds the threshold."

"Husband, the Vibranium smuggling route on the Wakanda border..."

"Transfer it to T'Challa, let him 'talk' to them."

Boring. Chen Tian felt like he was being pickled by reports.

Screech—

A harsh emergency communication noise suddenly broke the quiet of the room.

Spider-Man's panicked, breaking voice burst out: "Chen! Mr. Chen! Something big happened! TVA! It's the TVA! They took Mr. Wade! Right in front of me! They... they used a very scary weapon to electrocute his butt and then dragged him away! They even tried to brainwash me! It was terrifying!"

Chen Tian suddenly looked up, his half-closed eyelids instantly snapped open, sharp as an eagle's.

The previous laziness vanished, and the office temperature dropped several degrees.

"TVA?" Chen Tian's voice was cold, "Capturing Deadpool?"

2B instantly stopped operating, her optical lens locked onto Chen Tian, entering standby mode, the dagger under her skirt seemed to hum slightly. "Do you need me to force a path, Husband?" Her voice was calm and unruffled, but its content was full of murderous aura.

"Kang?" Chen Tian's fingers unconsciously tapped the desk, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, "Trying to cause trouble? No..."

He suddenly stood up, his powerful aura making the air momentarily condense. "Send me the location coordinates."

2B operated in sync, the light screen precisely pinpointing the location.

"2B, stay here." The next moment, the space in front of him silently tore open, forming a distorted portal.

He stepped through.

Skyscraper rooftop, incident site.

Chen Tian appeared out of thin air, at his feet were a few suspicious, burnt-smelling drops of liquid (Deadpool's "sacred back garden" residue?).

Spider-Man, still shaken, crawled out of the ventilation duct: "Mr. Chen! They..."

Chen Tian raised a hand to stop him, his gaze under the eye mask like a precise scanner, sweeping over the residual spatiotemporal energy traces.

The air still permeated with that uncomfortable burnt smell and a very faint, cold scent of non-Earth metal.

He squatted down, observing the energy scorch marks remaining on the ground.

The actions were crude, violent opening of the door, violent capture, violent erasure of traces... but not cleanly erased.

"Not like Kang..." Chen Tian stood up, his eyes cold with a hint of amusement, "That old schemer wouldn't be so crude." He stroked his chin, a dangerous curve forming on his lips, "Electrocute the butt? Forcibly drag him away? This script... why does it sound a bit like those terrible movies that crazy Wade made himself?"

As the thought arose, Chen Tian felt the probability soar.

The chance of that scoundrel Deadpool messing up and attracting trouble like the TVA was definitely much higher than Kang actively jumping out to cause trouble!

"Speaking of which, the movie Deadpool & Wolverine, I think it's supposed to be released in 2024? It's 2019 now, never mind, this is reality, can't generalize with movies."

"Who captured Deadpool? Mr. Paradox, I think that's his name, it seems Deadpool not returning to his World for a long time caused a butterfly effect."

Chen Tian mumbled a few words, Spider-Man only saw his lips moving, but didn't hear a single word, scratching his head in confusion.

"Alright," Chen Tian looked up, his tone casual, "It's nothing big, just people from Wade's hometown, taking him back to do something."

Upon hearing that, Spider-Man's tense nerves instantly relaxed with a "snap." "Oh, oh! So they're his own people! You scared me to death! Will Mr. Wade be alright then?"

"He won't die. At most, his butt will suffer a bit." Chen Tian waved his hand, "Go back."

Spider-Man let out a long sigh of relief, feeling that the World was beautiful again. "Okay! Goodbye, Mr. Chen!" He flicked his wrist, a web stuck to the opposite building, and his figure swung away, disappearing among the buildings.

Watching Spider-Man leave, Chen Tian twisted his neck, his joints cracking.

"Tsk, haven't stretched my muscles in a while." He said to the air: "2B, you keep an eye on the reports, I'm going to deal with that 'troublemaker'."

2B's clear, calm voice came through the earpiece: "Received, Husband. Be careful."

Chen Tian's lips curled slightly, and he snapped his fingers.

Snap!

A portal with edges distorted by violent energy instantly tore open in front of him, he could even see the iconic, cold and oppressive grey corridor of the TVA headquarters behind the door.

He stepped through, his figure disappearing, the portal violently closed behind him, leaving only a few suspicious burnt liquids on the rooftop.
