Chapter 114 - Yuhao, have you ever killed anyone?

There is no hiding place outside the teaching building. The calm eyes slowly moved. In that gaze, two figures quickly walked out. They were none other than Dai Huabin and Zhu Lu.

The two seemed to be talking about something. In the end, Dai Huabin left alone. Zhu Lu stood there alone with her head lowered. Since we only saw her back, we didn't know what she was thinking.

"The first step of revenge starts today."

A faint smile appeared on the corner of Huo Yuhao's mouth, and his body quietly left.

  Inner courtyard, library.

"In other words, the brat from the White Tiger Duke's Mansion intends to touch Yuhao?"

Yan Shaozhe stroked an ancient book and spoke in a very calm tone.

"Yes, teacher." Ma Xiaotao looked serious.

Yan Shaozhe didn't reply. He placed the books on the shelf and turned. "There's an organization called the Dark Guards in the White Tiger Duke's Mansion. That brat who dared to send people to ambush Yuhao was most likely one of them."

"Go ahead, tell Yuhao that as long as he leaves the academy, I'll help him deal with this."

Ma Xiaotao saluted respectfully and turned to leave.

  "Ding-ling-ling."

Before Ma Xiaotao left the library, a communication soul guide next to a desk suddenly chimed.

Ma Xiaotao paused and instinctively turned to look.

Yan Shaozhe picked up the communication soul guide and, as soon as the call was connected, Du Weilun's voice came through, "Dean Yan, Yuhao wants to see you."

Hearing this, Yan Shaozhe smiled. "I see. Tell him to wait in the office. Xiaotao will be there later."

  "Okay."

  The call ended.

Ma Xiaotao resumed her pace and left.

  ...

Outside the back gate of Shrek Academy, Ping'an Street was lined with shops and bustling with people. The housing prices here were among the most expensive in Shrek City.

There was no other way. Shrek Academy was right next door, so it was like a school district apartment.

Dai Huabin walked through a deep alley, burying himself in the shadows, until he finally arrived at a closed door. He knocked, but his knocking sequence was unusual: three pauses before two more knocks.

Soon, the door opened. Perhaps because the lights were off, the interior was pitch black, making it difficult to see clearly.

Dai Huabin ignored the situation and walked in.

The White Tiger Duke's Mansion was a powerful force on the mainland, and given its unique status, they had sent people to offer financial assistance when Shrek City was still being built, but the Shrek Academy leadership refused.

However, this didn't stop the White Tiger Duke's Mansion from secretly acquiring several houses as bases.

This was the closest base to Shrek Academy, where some of the Duke's secret guards were hidden.

  "Second Young Master."

When Dai Huabin arrived at a brightly lit living room, the dozen or so people resting inside immediately stood up and saluted.

The men's attire varied, but most were elegantly dressed, giving them the air of affluent families.

Dai Huabin spoke coldly, his tone icy, "Tonight, I need you to eliminate someone."

Although they already knew this, the secret guards present frowned.

One of the middle-aged men spoke cautiously,

"Second Young Master, this is Shrek City. Killing someone within the city is extremely risky. Do you think you should..."

"Don't you understand what I'm saying?" Dai Huabin looked at the man blankly.

The middle-aged man, feeling a lump in his throat, quickly lowered his head.

With the exception of Dai Huabin, everyone present was at least Soul King-level, so how could they not detect the anger in Dai Huabin's tone?

But Dai Huabin wasn't completely reckless. He said in a deep voice, "I also understand the difficulties of assassination. If the target is close to Shrek Academy, cancel the mission. But if they're far away and happen to be in a less crowded area, act immediately. After eliminating them, leave Shrek City as quickly as possible, or hide."

"The mission is risky, but as long as you complete it, this young master promises in the name of the White Tiger Family that you will be rewarded in the future."

  "This..."

The secret guards looked at each other in bewilderment. The reward was secondary, but Shrek City was indeed vast, and if the killing was swift, it could indeed be successful.

In fact, the best scenario would be to wait until the target left Shrek City before taking action, but who could say for sure.

"Hmm?" Seeing the secret guards' hesitation to respond, Dai Huabin's eyes suddenly turned cold.

"As you command," the secret guards all agreed. A

secret guard's duty was to follow orders; they had no other choice.

  Dai Huabin frowned.

In reality, these secret guards weren't the ones he'd previously commanded. His previous assignment of secret guards to monitor Dai Yuheng had angered the Duchess, prompting her to withdraw the original group. These were merely replacements, not trusted subordinates, and even slightly less capable.

"Split into two groups: one to guard Shrek's east gate, and one to guard the back entrance." Dai Huabin produced two portraits and handed them to the middle-aged secret guards. "This man will leave the academy sometime tonight. It's up to you from now on."

After taking the portraits, the group examined them, gaining a precise understanding.

Dai Huabin, after all, was the legitimate son of the Duke's family. His childhood education encompassed not only spirit master training but also aristocratic instruction, including painting. He'd been painting since the day he discovered Huo Yuhao, and he'd put it to use today.

"I'm leaving now. Remember, I've never been here," Dai Huabin instructed, then quickly departed.

The secret guards watched him go.

The middle-aged man said gravely, "Alright, split into two teams, each guarding the area."

  ...

The sky was gray, and as the light faded, the earth began to darken. Shrek City was still brightly lit, but the world outside was a blur.

Inside, tired people began to relax and have fun. The streets were filled with people chatting and laughing, until thunder roared from the sky, and the raging lightning left twisted streaks in the sky.

A cold wind mixed with a light rain began to fall, soaking the floor and carrying a dusty smell. The streets began to empty.

It was eight o'clock in the evening.

Huo Yuhao stood on the street outside the back door. At this time, only a few people could be seen running to avoid the rain, their feet splashing with water.

A variety of light signs were reflected in the puddles.

Holding an umbrella, he walked towards the grilling shed. The distance was quite long.

After living in Shrek City for a year, and having followed Blueberry everywhere, Huo Yuhao was quite familiar with the routes. He knew where the crowds were and where they were less crowded.

Entering a secluded park, Huo Yuhao took a shortcut. What no one noticed was that a faint spiritual fluctuation was emanating from his side. As he entered the shadows, his figure twisted, as if something had detached from him and disappeared into the darkness. His spiritual detection had already been activated, taking in everything, including the six people not far away.

As he exited the back door and arrived at Ping'an Street, he noticed several eyes staring at him. With the help of his spiritual detection, he could clearly sense the murderous intent in their eyes.

  Come on.

We need to find a deserted place.

Shrek City has many parks, and some residents even have park entrances right across from their homes.

The park was primarily intended as a place for people to relax and stroll. Due to the rain, the park was already deserted, with only a few spirit guide lamps providing light to illuminate the stone paths.

Entering the park's main path from the small path, one had to pass through a wide, flat area, similar to a square dance venue.

A hundred meters or so from this flat area, a staircase led to the main road, where people could appear at any moment.

As Huo Yuhao reached the platform, the six people who had been following him suddenly seemed to exchange words. Five of them quickly surrounded him from both sides.

The thunder and rain obscured their presence, making them completely invisible.

Huo Yuhao continued forward, seemingly oblivious.

Just as he was about to cross the flat area, several fierce, wolf-like gazes fixed on him from within the bushes.

  "Sha!"

A soft sound echoed, like raindrops hitting leaves.

In an instant, the bushes erupted in light, and several figures burst forth, their murderous intent so intense that the spirit guide lamps seemed to vanish.

Clearly aiming for a single kill,

five men in black swiftly burst from the bushes, attacking from different directions. Each possessed five spirit rings, but only one possessed the optimal ratio; the other three had scattered rings.

A bone-chilling aura surged toward Huo Yuhao:

head, front, back, right, and left.

  Almost every direction was intercepted.

Perhaps to avoid the loud clatter of their unleashing spirit abilities and attract the attention of passersby outside the park, they all used melee dagger-like spirit tools.

A cold gleam emerged, and all five attacks landed on Huo Yuhao: between

his eyebrows, heart, abdomen, and spine.

The sharp spirit tools instantly pierced Huo Yuhao's body.

Perhaps feeling their mission accomplished so easily, the five assassins' eyes lit up with joy, but the next moment, their expressions suddenly changed. The target they had pierced mysteriously vanished.

The five assassins froze in their spots. At that moment, in the sky...

Endless flames suddenly erupted, consuming all the rain. Immediately afterwards, a resounding phoenix cry echoed, and the endless flames transformed into a massive flaming phoenix. Simultaneously, with a flash of black light, the phoenix descended with a terrifying pressure. The raging,

fiery flames illuminated the flat ground. As the phoenix touched down, the ground instantly shattered by the powerful impact. Countless flames surged in all directions, instantly engulfing the few men in black who had reacted.

  "Clang!"

The flames recondensed, transforming into a flaming phoenix that soared to the sky.

Elsewhere, within the bushes, another man in black, who hadn't participated in the action, saw his pupils dilate. Without hesitation, he turned and retreated. However, as he turned, he collided with a solid object, as if made of steel, with a thud.

As the man in black realized something was amiss and tried to run the other way, an arm grabbed his shoulder.

Suddenly, an immensely heavy aura pinned him to the spot, and the ground cracked.

At the same time, a faint golden light surged into the black-clad figure, sealing his martial spirit and soul power.

"I've made some tea, and I invite you to try it."

The golden light dispelled the darkness, revealing a gentle face. It was none other than Ming Feng Douluo, Yan Shaozhe.

At the outermost edge of the collapsed plain, a distorted sense of déjà vu emerged, and a figure emerged. It was none other than Huo Yuhao.     In the center of the plain, the flaming phoenix slowly dissipated, transforming into a stunning woman with a cold, murderous gaze. Under her feet, a half-dead man in black remained. Only one man in black survived; the other four were reduced to ash.

"Instantly killing five Soul Kings! My sister is incredible!" Huo Yuhao said, smiling as he approached.

Ma Xiaotao raised her head, the coldness in her expression quickly fading, transforming into a rare gentleness. She smiled, "Are you okay?" "It's okay,

" Huo Yuhao shook his head. "It's just that the long-range simulation and mind-interference soul skills are a bit exhausting."

  "Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh."

Suddenly, three figures descended from the sky.

One of them, with a calm expression, placed his palm on the ground. A stream of earthy yellow light emanated, and the collapsed, burning, pitch-black ground instantly began to heal.

Around them, two soul masters each channeled their soul power, and a green light emerged. The destroyed trees began to grow again, even more luxuriant than before.

"Excuse me, teachers." Ma Xiaotao and Huo Yuhao bowed respectfully to the three.

The three inner court teachers all nodded with gentle smiles.

With a single step, they vanished before the siblings.

"What should we do with this man?" Ma Xiaotao looked at the black-clad figure beneath her feet.

"Deal with him," a gentle voice echoed. The siblings turned and saw Yan Shaozhe approaching.

  "Teacher," they saluted.

"Yuhao, have you ever killed anyone?" Yan Shaozhe nodded and looked at Huo Yuhao.

  Ma Xiaotao's eyes flickered slightly.

Huo Yuhao didn't hesitate, replying immediately, "Yes."

Yan Shaozhe raised a brow. "You're quite capable, boy! I thought you'd only ever killed chickens, ducks, or geese. If that's the case, then, do it yourself and kill him."

With that, Yan Shaozhe tossed Huo Yuhao a sharp dagger. It wasn't a soul guide, but a conventional weapon.

Huo Yuhao took it and, without hesitation, stabbed the black-clad figure in the neck. Blood gushed out, diluted by the rain.

In an instant, the black-clad man, with his last breath, died.

Yan Shaozhe watched the entire scene. "Teacher, I thought you'd never killed before, so I wanted to borrow this man's life to give you a taste of it. After all, when a soul master travels across the continent, blood is bound to stain his hands. Now that you've killed, I'm relieved."

"Xiaotao, burn him. I'll be back later."

Yan Shaozhe grabbed Huo Yuhao's shoulders, and the master and disciple vanished.

Ma Xiaotao raised her jade hand and snapped her fingers. A blazing flame fell to the ground, instantly consuming the black-clad man's body. In a matter of seconds, there was no more body on the ground.

"Swish." Having done all this, Ma Xiaotao moved and left.

The rain fell harder and harder, washing away the flat land of the park. Perhaps someone would come for a stroll in the future, never realizing how many people had died here.

  ...

Bright lights illuminated the room, and a faint white mist drifted from the teacup on the table. Yan Shaozhe sat calmly in the main seat, flanked by several renowned inner court teachers from the Martial Soul Department.

Before everyone's eyes, a middle-aged man with a dazed expression was confined to a table and chair.

He was the sole surviving secret guard.

"Have you recorded this?" Yan Shaozhe sipped his tea.

"Yes," an inner courtyard teacher nodded.

"Very good. I'll write a letter later. Xiao Chen, send it to the White Tiger Duke's residence. Remember to tell them that only the Duchess or the White Tiger Duke himself can come to the academy to collect the person. If they don't come, I'll personally cripple that brat and send him back."

"Okay," the inner courtyard teacher accepted the order.

"Take this person back to the Duke's residence and hand him over to them for disposal." Yan Shaozhe glanced at the middle-aged man, stood up, and walked out of the interrogation room.

Someone else would take care of the rest.

"You two little guys, why don't you go to bed?" Yan Shaozhe emerged to see Huo Yuhao and Ma Xiaotao chatting by the window.

"Teacher, I'm going to the dormitory right now to get Dai Huabin out," Ma Xiaotao said, clasping her fists.

"Come on." Yan Shaozhe glanced at Ma Xiaotao. "You're so rough with your blows, I was afraid you'd kill him with one punch."

Ma Xiaotao's face froze, and she pursed her lips and fell silent.

Yan Shaozhe smiled and said, "Just leave the follow-up matters to me. Okay, go back and rest."

"Thank you, teacher." Huo Yuhao said solemnly. He knew that if the White Tiger Duke's Mansion wanted to keep things quiet, the price they would pay would be high.

Yan Shaozhe smiled and said nothing. He still had to write a letter.

"Let's go too," Ma Xiaotao said.

"By the way, sister, do you have any extra beds?" Huo Yuhao suddenly asked.

Ma Xiaotao was stunned for a moment. "Where am I?"

Huo Yuhao smiled and said, "My roommate's probably asleep by now. It wouldn't be good to wake him up. Why don't you please be so kind and let me sleep there?"

Ma Xiaotao was stunned for a few seconds before reacting. Her face paled slightly, but for some reason, she inexplicably agreed. She said weakly, "There's only one bed there. You can sleep on it, and I'll sleep on the sofa."

"No, I'll just sleep on the sofa," Huo Yuhao said cheerfully.

Wang Dong wasn't actually sleeping at that moment. Inspired by Huo Yuhao's words, she would also choose to practice for a few hours before bed.

  "Boom!"

  Thunder rumbled.

The rain intensified, burying the entire Shrek Academy in a curtain of rain, the dim lights barely illuminating the room.

Huo Yuhao curled up on the sofa, listening to the patter of raindrops against the roof, surrounded by a warm air.

Aside from the sofa being too small and uncomfortable to sleep on, everything else was perfect.

Ma Xiaotao's residence was a single-person residence. Due to the special nature of her martial spirit and her love of cultivation, she spent most of her time in the training room, which resulted in her house being sparsely decorated.

There was only one bed, and even the sofa was a small, not-so-big one.

However, before Huo Yuhao had slept for long, a hesitant and inexplicable voice rang out from the bedroom.

"Yuhao, you should sleep on the bed too. The sofa is too small."

Huo Yuhao, who had been listening to the rain with his eyes closed on the sofa, suddenly opened his eyes. Without any hesitation, he grabbed the quilt and walked towards the bedroom.

"You kid, are you waiting for me to call you?"

"No, no, I just find it too uncomfortable to sleep on the sofa."

"Oh, I don't believe you. Forget it, you sleep on the left side of the bed, I'll sleep on the right. Go to bed early. We still have things to do tomorrow."

  "Okay."

  In the bedroom,

Huo Yuhao lay on the soft bed, his back to Ma Xiaotao. They were no more than forty centimeters apart, and he could even smell Ma Xiaotao's body fragrance in his nose.

He slept soundly, but Ma Xiaotao, on the other hand, stared at him with a complicated look.

The words Blueberry and the teacher kept flowing through his mind.

Gradually, a smile crept into Ma Xiaotao's lips. A

relationship between an older woman and a younger man?

  That seems quite interesting.

  The next day.

Daybreak had just begun, and the sky was still gray, with dark clouds gathering. But at least it wasn't raining heavily, just a few drops.

After breakfast, the students began to head towards the teaching building.

The atmosphere in Class 1 was lively.

"Where were you last night?" Wang Dong looked suspiciously at Huo Yuhao, who smiled.

"He went to a nice place." Huo Yuhao, of course, wouldn't talk about what happened last night, so he offered a vague explanation.

"A nice place?" Wang Dong's face suddenly changed. He'd heard recently that some students, unable to bear the loneliness, had gone to such places to play. Could Huo Yuhao

have done the same? Thinking of this, Wang Dong instinctively clenched his fists.

Huo Yuhao ignored him because Wang Yan had arrived.

  Instantly, the classroom fell silent.

"Teacher Wang." Just as Wang Yan took the podium and was about to speak,

Zhu Lu raised her hand and stood up.

"Do you have anything to say, Zhu Lu?" Wang Yan said gently.

A hint of worry crossed Zhu Lu's face. "Teacher Wang, Dai Huabin didn't come to class."

Hearing this, Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao finally realized what was happening. What's more, Dai Huabin, who was usually inseparable from Zhu Lu, was not here today.

Huo Yuhao's lips curled up in a strange smile.

If nothing unexpected happened, Dai Huabin must have been forced to check the water meter.

Wang Yan chuckled and said, "Dai Huabin has taken a leave of absence, so he's not here right now."

Upon hearing this, Zhu Lu's expression suddenly changed. She was no fool. Dai Huabin must have done something bad yesterday, which was why he wasn't here today.

It even had something to do with Shrek Academy.

"Classmates, yesterday I asked you to choose whether to enroll in the Soul Guidance Department. You can sign up now. I'll hand in the list after class,"

Wang Yan said, looking at the crowd.

As soon as these words were spoken, people quickly took action, heading to the podium to sign up. In the original Douluo Continent and the Three Kingdoms, while traditional soul masters were more accepted, that didn't mean all young people disliked soul guides.

Otherwise, where would the students for the Soul Guidance Department come from?

Looking at the podium, Zhu Lu sat down as if she had lost her soul.

Meanwhile, above the official road from Shrek City to Xingluo City in the Xingluo Empire, several figures wearing flying soul guides quickly rushed towards it.

This part of Dai Huabin's story ended, and it was time to head to the Far North.
