Ryan woke up to an unfamiliar cream colored ceiling, the new apartment, right.
He turned his head to look at the clock on the nightstand. 2:47 PM.
He'd slept through most of the day.
Ryan sat up slowly, his body still heavy with exhaustion that sleep hadn't quite erased.
His phone sat on the bed, beside his pillow, and Ryan reached for it with a sense of dread he couldn't quite shake. The screen lit up, showing three missed calls and five text messages.
All from Marcus.
Ryan's chest tightened as he opened the messages, reading them in order.
*Marcus: Morning, hope you slept well.*
That one had come in at 9 AM.
*Marcus: I know something came up yesterday, but I'm hoping you can still visit today?*
10:30 AM.
*Marcus: Are you okay? Is everything alright?*
12:15 PM.
*Marcus: Sorry if I'm being clingy. I just... I want to see you. Call me when you can.*
2:00 PM.
*Marcus: Please.*
