After more than two and a half hours of what could only be described as heavenly torture, I finally convinced Shalltear and Albedo to let me leave Nazarick for my next world.
Of course, nothing with those two ever came without conditions.
They both demanded, no—insisted—that I take at least one Guardian and one Pleiades Battle Maid with me.
Their reasoning was "for protection," but anyone who knew them could see it was pure possessiveness wrapped in a thin veil of concern.
"Alastor-sama shouldn't wander strange worlds without loyal servants," Shalltear had said, puffing her chest out like a proud vampire knight.
"And what if some woman tries to touch you there?" Albedo added, eyes twitching dangerously. "We can't have that, can we, my lord?"
I'd nearly laughed, but one look at Albedo's expression told me that she was deadly serious.
After a long sigh and some sweet-talking, I finally relented.
"Fine. One Guardian and one Pleiades. No more, no less."
It took another half hour of careful negotiation to stop Albedo from volunteering herself all the travel.
I argued that her position as Overseer was too critical to leave Nazarick unattended.
Even Shalltear agreed.
After more emotional tug-of-war — and Shalltear almost crying while clinging to my arm — they finally accepted my decision.
Once the chaos subsided, I escaped back to my personal office on the ninth floor, closing the ornate doors behind me with a long, exhausted sigh.
In my office.
A floating crystalline orb hovered near my desk, radiating a soft azure light that bathed the room in a calm glow.
And in front of me, the familiar blue interface of the Multiverse System shimmered to life.
It was time.
Time to choose my destination.
I sat down in my leather chair, leaning back as the transparent panels flickered before my eyes—dozens of worlds, each with their own brief description.
Some were familiar, others alien and mysterious.
I scrolled slowly, my eyes flicking through the list.
A thousand Quest Coins wasn't much. But I need to do something about it.
"Let's see…" I muttered, and I started to scroll without looking. Just let luck do its work.
When I stopped, one name caught my eye—one that immediately made my fingers still.
[Marvel Zombie World—Status: Apocalypse, Cost: 500 Quest Coins]
"…Huh."
For a few seconds, I just stared at the name.
Then a slow, almost wicked grin spread across my face.
Marvel.
A world filled with superhumans, gods, cosmic entities, and impossible science… Normally a world that is as dangerous as Dragon Ball and OPM.
But this version—the zombie version—was different. It seems this world took after the animation version more than the comic one.
According to the brief description:
"A once-heroic world has fallen to infection. Heroes and villains alike turned into monsters driven by hunger. Civilization has collapsed, and cosmic forces meddle in despair. Danger Level: Variable. Reward Potential: High."
To be honest, I don't know the plot of the Marvel Zombie world. Given that, Marvel has a lot of plots, including many that don't have a main character. I can't say I know every plot. I only know the MCU plot.
Since the Marvel Zombie world is still Marvel, I would like to give it a try, even if I didn't know the plot.
Half the cost of what I currently have.
Not so much of a risk except for that Infinity Stone, which I don't know how it would affect me. I do believe some of its effect won't affect me.
"Marvel Zombie World, huh?" I whispered, fingers drumming against the desk. "I can also check my current strength by going against billions of zombies."
The system's faint hum filled the silence.
I could almost hear the possibilities whispering in my ear—the chance to stand atop a dead Earth, surrounded by the remnants of the mightiest beings ever conceived.
To face cosmic threats twisted by undeath.
And to take what was left for myself.
"Only five hundred Quest Coins…" I murmured. "That's a steal."
I leaned back, smirking at the glowing screen.
But I didn't press 'Confirm' yet.
Because I did tell Albedo and Shalltear that one Guardian and Pleiades will accompany me.
