"Lucas, why… are you wearing women's clothes?"
Su was shocked, his face twisting like the 'old man on the subway with a phone' meme.
Lucas, in his pink outfit, covered his chest awkwardly.
Silence fell; they stared, unsure what to say.
Lucas cleared his throat. "I have a compelling reason."
Su nodded. "I understand."
The gray-haired man closed his eyes, calming.
For a moment, Lucas feared Su would pounce, tearing at his clothes, saying, "Scream all you want, no one will hear."
Thankfully, that didn't happen.
Su seemed normal—for now.
Then Su said, "Too many reincarnations, it's inevitable to become a pervert."
"I'm a pervert, but not into cross-dressing," Lucas retorted.
No surprise Su knew about his reincarnations—Ai Yi and Judah did too.
Su dropped the topic.
Lucas changed it. "Why are you here?"
This was Welt Yang's weapon.
Su's presence raised suspicions.
"To fight Honkai." Su dropped his leaf. "I'm here… but seeing me means I'm dead."
"Dead? What's this Honkai form?"
As a Honkai Impact 3rd player, Lucas knew Honkai: periodic disasters like war or disease, spawning Honkai Energy, mutating beings, creating Honkai Beasts.
He hadn't believed Welt Yang's diary claims of Honkai.
It felt supernatural.
But Su, from the Previous Civilization, confirmed it, shaking Lucas.
"Honkai takes many forms," Su said. "But an accident in our era changed it."
"Accident?"
Did the Previous Civilization cause St. Freya's mess?
Did Lucas's transmigration and system trigger it?
Sweating, he protested, "I'm not that guy… I'm responsible, never abandoning Valkyries I've 'bent over.'"
Su guessed his thoughts. "Not your fault, Lucas. We released the demon."
"Demon?"
"Contamination source."
"Elaborate."
Su nodded. "I will."
"First, the contamination source is a ghostly, two-dimensional creature. It needs a Honkai Energy host to exist in three dimensions, unchangeable once chosen. Kill the host to eliminate it."
"Second, sources have varied abilities, and there are multiple. Their number is unknown."
"Third, they're tied to Honkai; some speculate they're the Thirteenth Herrscher."
New info confused Lucas more.
A two-dimensional creature? Sci-fi, not horror.
The Thirteenth Herrscher was a myth; the Herrscher of the End followed the Twelfth.
Previous Civilization should know this.
Unless they escaped to the current era, avoiding the End.
Running, while shameful, worked.
Lucas's mind muddled.
"That's it?"
"That's all I know," Su said calmly, no riddles.
"Great. Next question. Why say you're dead? You seem fine."
"I'm data, a spiritual remnant in Eden Star," Su turned. "The real me died before you came to St. Freya."
"How'd you die?"
"If nothing unexpected, suicide."
Lucas's eyebrows rose. "Suicide…"
Why?
"For what?"
"To maintain St. Freya's rules, a psychic fusion warrior must sacrifice."
"Rules?"
"Without rules, no order. You wouldn't survive St. Freya without them."
True.
Without bizarre rules, Lucas wouldn't last.
"So… you killed yourself for me?"
