Later on, Haibara Ai heard that Sake was promoted to be third in command. And this was something that Gin told her personally when he threatened her, saying that if she didn't listen, he would send her to Sake and let him kill her.
Having seen Sake's brutality during that mission, even if she had never seen the other party directly, Haibara Ai had a second nightmare aside from Gin.
Thankfully, the other party was far away from Japan.
But now, she heard Gin calling Hikari Yuki with the name Sake.
The huge contrast made her confused.
If Hikari Yuki is really Sake… why did she save her sister and her when she's actually a mass murderer who had killed so many people?
Haibara Ai didn't understand.
Hikari Yuki looked at Haibara Ai and rubbed her head. "Yes, are you afraid of me now?"
Her voice was still the gentle tone that Haibara Ai was familiar with, not the chilling cold tone that she showed in front of Gin. It sounded soothing but Hikari Yuki didn't seem to be trying to provide comfort or explanation or anything to her.
She's simply stating a fact.
If anything, Haibara Ai felt that Hikari Yuki might think that it's not necessary.
Whether she believed in the other party or not, Hikari Yuki never truly cared.
Moreover... There was a faint trace of loneliness in the other party's tone that Ai couldn't explain and yet somewhat familiar.
"No," Haibara Ai said.
Hikari Yuki's pupil widened slightly in surprise, such a small movement that one wouldn't be able to notice if they were not paying close attention.
Haibara Ai looked at the other party's beautiful blue eyes and held Hikari Yuki's shoulder closely. "If you truly wanted to harm me, you wouldn't have left me with Kudo Shinichi. I don't know your purpose but since you saved my sister and didn't hand me over to the organization, I'm willing to trust you to a certain degree."
It's impossible for Haibara Ai to completely forget about her nightmare, but she's willing to believe that Hikari Yuki will not hurt her.
Because if Hikari Yuki truly wanted to, both she and Kudo Shinichi would have died several times over.
And it would have been impossible for her sister to be alive and well.
Besides… She trusted her instincts and what she had seen with her own eyes.
"Ok." Hikari Yuki smiled and after turning around a few more times, she finally brought Haibara Ai to Professor Agasa's house.
She knocked on the door and explained to Professor Agasa that she found Haibara Ai looked pale on the street, so she brought her here.
"Thank you for your help, Hikari." Professor Agasa could see that Haibara Ai's face was still a bit pale. "I'm sorry to trouble you."
"It's nothing much." Hikari Yuki has a gentle smile on her face. "I still have some things to do, so I'll leave first, Prof. Agasa."
"Yes, yes."
