Elara's POV
My feet stand outside the palace, and I smell smoke.
Where is Velora?
She isn't in sight, but we lay together in bed. We must have fallen asleep at the same time. I'm supposed to be by her side. There's nothing to tell me how I left the room.
And no one is around me. No gammas. No maids. It's just me.
I smell smoke.
"Where is this place?" I mutter, as though I've seen someone to pour out my questions to.
Perhaps someone will answer. But no one does. The smell of smoke gets worse, blocking my sight, and soon, I can't see the houses right in front of me. Just a little more, and breathing will be impossible.
In another second, the place turns dark.
It's no longer quiet.
I hear loud growls.
I see fire. The houses burn down, and the smell of blood mixes with smoke, choking me, giving me no room to escape.
It's like a war has erupted, and I have no idea why.
