Saphyra's POV
Astra's eyes does not leave me, not for a split second. Her gaze is like fingertips on my skin, like she can see through it, and somehow, I feel naked.
I have nothing to hide. I have no secret I'm trying to keep, but why does it feel like she's already unveiling a secret?
Why would a hybrid like me have a big secret?
And coupled with the tension from Alpha Hades, I haven't gotten a break.
"It's surprising," she says with a heavy breath.
I say nothing.
She takes my hand in hers. I would have withdrawm, but I have no strength to do so.
"Alpha Hades… I didn't… this is so unlikely."
I want to say something. Just anything, but instead tears well up in my eyes. I try to hide it back, but I'm too weak not to. It flows, wetting my cheeks. Perhaps the tears is all I have to say.
"Alpha Hades stopped the Night veil rite," she says again. "And you survived another day."
