Chapter 120 - Ning Fengzhi Consumes the Immortal Herb, Ning Rongrong Gets the Scraps

As expected, upon receiving the news, Ning Fengzhi immediately set off for Shrek Academy, carrying a gold card loaded with a substantial sum of gold soul coins.

Tang San waited leisurely in his room, radiating confidence. He knew Ning Fengzhi well enough to predict the old fox wouldn't pass up this opportunity to evolve their Martial Souls. However, Tang San was determined to prevent the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School from developing the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda.

Moreover, in this life, he had no intention of letting Ning Rongrong consume the Qiluo Tulip. Her innate talent was already too exceptional.

So, he planned to keep Ning Rongrong dangling for now. He was torn between keeping her around and letting her go. After all, if he were to die in the future, he might need her resurrection divine light.

But given the current state of Oscar and Ning Rongrong's relationship, their Martial Soul Fusion Technique was likely unusable. From Tang San's perspective, Ning Rongrong's value paled in comparison to the benefits Ning Fengzhi could bring.

If Ning Rongrong were to consume the herb and rapidly advance to the Titled rank, it would create complications. Supporting the Sword Bone Douluo would also become a nuisance. Therefore, he decided to have Ning Fengzhi consume the Immortal Herb instead.

The reason was to extend Ning Fengzhi's lifespan and enhance his aptitude. Tang San's only concern was that Ning Fengzhi might consume the Immortal Herb but fail to break through.

If Tang San told him it could grant him fifty more years of life, the old fox would likely swallow it himself. But that would be a lie; Ning Fengzhi would never reach the Titled rank in his lifetime.

But should I really allow the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda to manifest?

A shadow flickered in Tang San's eyes. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School was immensely wealthy, and if they truly managed to nurture Ning Fengzhi into a Titled rank, it wouldn't be impossible.

With so many unexpected variables, Tang San didn't want Ning Fengzhi—the "grand gift package" he had prepared for the Tang Sect—to gain the power to resist him.

Nine treasures are unnecessary. Eight treasures will suffice.

With a cold expression, Tang San plucked two leaflets from the Qiluo Tulip, temporarily sealing their medicinal potency.

Even so, thirty percent of the herb's power still leaked away.

The main flower retained only fifty percent of its original potency, while the two leaflets accounted for twenty percent. Moreover, despite Tang San's efforts to seal the power, it continued to dissipate steadily. Within a month, the herb's medicinal properties would be completely gone.

Even if Ning Fengzhi were to fully refine the remaining potency now, it would be utterly impossible for him to evolve his Martial Soul into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda.

Tang San could rename these two stems and leaves and sell them to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School again. Having experienced the Qiluo Tulip's effects, Ning Fengzhi would undoubtedly refuse to part with these fragments.

"Let's ask for another hundred million," Tang San said casually. He was confident that Ning Fengzhi would pay whatever price was demanded. The medicinal potency of these fragments was unstable, and he wasn't even sure if they were still usable, but that wasn't his problem. He had plenty of excuses to shift the blame onto whoever consumed the herbs.

"Xiao San, Sect Leader Ning of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School is here to see you. Go greet him," Flender's voice called out shortly after, his eyes tinged with envy. He knew about the Immortal Herbs and the staggering three hundred million coin transaction. If he had that kind of money, he could spend it for the rest of his life without running out.

"Alright, I'll go receive Sect Leader Ning now," Tang San replied, leaving the room.

Given Ning Fengzhi's esteemed status, he couldn't be kept waiting. He had been escorted to the reception hall, where Tang San soon arrived.

"Greetings, Sect Leader Ning," Tang San said, his demeanor surprisingly formal despite his rugged appearance and fierce expression. He maintained perfect decorum.

"Well, Xiao San, our three sects are as close as family. May I call myself Uncle Ning? Is that alright?"

Ning Fengzhi wore a faint smile, his eyes slightly narrowed, concealing his true emotions. He nodded inwardly, impressed by Tang San's refined manners.

If one ignored Tang San's appearance, he could easily be mistaken for a cultured young gentleman. But a single glance at his face revealed him to be nothing more than a mountain bandit who had wandered into the city.

"Rongrong and I are classmates," Tang San replied calmly. "It's only natural that I address Sect Leader Ning as Uncle Ning."

He remained composed, waiting for Ning Fengzhi to take his seat before settling into his own, ready to hear what the sect leader had to say.

"Xiao San, I've heard you possess an Immortal Herb capable of evolving the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School's Martial Soul. Would you allow me to examine it first, Uncle?"

Ning Fengzhi cut straight to the chase. He knew Tang San understood the herb's value, and any haggling would only diminish his own position.

"If Uncle Ning wishes to see it, of course."

Though Tang San had weakened the Qiluo Tulip, he was confident Ning Fengzhi wouldn't recognize the alteration. After all, the sect leader had never even seen an Immortal Herb before.

In fact, Ning Fengzhi had only learned of the existence of Immortal Herbs from Tang San himself.

Ning Fengzhi retrieved the jade box containing the Qiluo Tulip and opened it. The overflowing medicinal energy instantly filled him with a sense of profound comfort.

"Truly a rare and priceless treasure," he murmured, his conviction in the Martial Soul's evolution now at fifty percent. A final decision would require fully absorbing the Immortal Herb.

"Xiao San, remember that whether this Immortal Herb can evolve the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School's Martial Soul remains speculation. If it fails, don't blame us for refusing to honor the agreement."

Clearly, Ning Fengzhi was willing to try, but if the experiment failed, Tang San would have to refund the full three hundred million gold soul coins.

This was exactly what Tang San had anticipated, so he readily agreed. After all, who knew better than him whether the Qiluo Tulip could evolve the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School's Martial Soul?

Seeing this, Ning Fengzhi produced thirty gold cards, each representing ten million gold soul coins, and placed them before Tang San.

"Here are the three hundred million gold soul coins. I'd like Rongrong to absorb this Immortal Herb immediately. Is that acceptable?" Ning Fengzhi asked, his gaze burning into Tang San.

"That's fine, but I strongly advise Uncle Ning to absorb it himself. The herb's power is extremely potent. Rongrong is merely a support-type Soul Venerable with a fragile constitution. She might not be able to withstand it and could explode from the overwhelming energy."

Tang San spoke with such earnestness that Ning Fengzhi, despite sensing something was amiss, couldn't bring himself to object.

After all, he had personally felt the Qiluo Tulip's terrifying medicinal potency, which indeed seemed beyond Ning Rongrong's ability to absorb.

"Uncle Ning, there's no need to worry," Tang San continued. "This Immortal Herb possesses boundless virtues. Not only does it directly extend lifespan, but it also enhances one's innate talent. I'm confident that after you absorb it, you'll break through to the Titled Douluo realm and elevate the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School to unprecedented heights."

Hearing Tang San's flattery, Ning Fengzhi fell into deep thought. Staring at the Qiluo Tulip in its jade box, he finally steeled his resolve.

Rongrong's intentions were still uncertain. If this Immortal Herb could extend his lifespan, consuming it might even evolve his Martial Soul into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda.

"Father, you should absorb it instead," Ning Rongrong urged, mistaking his contemplation for reluctance on her account. "Rongrong doesn't need such an Immortal Herb."

But Ning Rongrong overestimated her influence. Ning Fengzhi dismissed her as an option in less than three seconds.

"Rongrong, you've grown up," he said, maintaining his benevolent fatherly demeanor as he patted her shoulder approvingly. He then picked up the Qiluo Tulip and followed Tang San's instructions.

With Sword Bone Douluo guarding the process, Ning Fengzhi began refining the herb.

Moments later, an unfamiliar, agonizing scream echoed through Shrek Academy.
