Tomorrow was a rest day for all competitors, so the Shrek Seven decided to stay at the Dou Soul Arena and look for some amusement. After all, picking fights recklessly was for fools, and they were anything but.
Meanwhile, outside the city gates, Qian Ren Chuan and his teammates gathered. Over the past few days, they had observed the preliminaries in Tian Dou City. Overall, the performances were lackluster. Most teams had been easily outmatched by Dugu Yan alone.
Based on the information they had gathered, Xing Luo's team was slightly stronger than Tian Dou's team, but still unimpressive. With only about a month left until the end of the preliminaries, Qian Ren Chuan and his group decided it was best to return to Spirit Hall for further preparation.
"Are Qiu Bai and Tian Yue still out shopping?" Yan asked, arriving early with Xie Yue. They had gone to see the performances of Tian Dou Royal Team One and then wandered around the city, only to find Tian Dou City less impressive than Wu Hun City.
"They've gone to train in Sunset Forest. In about a week, Elder Jin E will bring them back to Spirit Hall," Qian Ren Chuan replied.
Xie Yue recalled meeting Tian Yue and Dugu Qiu Bai previously and suspected that they were probably taking the opportunity to relax as well.
"Got it. Let's prepare ourselves then and leave shortly," Qian Ren Chuan said. He wasn't worried about detaining anyone; if others had matters to attend to, he had no reason to stop them.
"小 Wu, are we leaving so soon?" Xiao Wu walked beside Qian Ren Chuan. She hadn't been selected for Spirit Hall's team due to her slightly weaker strength, but she didn't feel resentment.
Instead, she silently berated herself for not being strong enough. She had failed to protect her mother before, and now she feared she might hold Qian Ren Chuan back. She was determined not to be a liability.
"Ah, right. Xiao Wu, you haven't consumed the immortal herb yet. Take this mixed-essence one and refine it," Qian Ren Chuan said, handing her the herb. His gaze was filled with warmth.
Xiao Wu's eyes lit up. "Thank you, Brother Chuan. I promise I won't let you down."
She accepted the herb with a determined expression. Her pink rabbit ears twitched slightly as she looked up at him.
Qian Ren Chuan nodded. "Then together, we'll step on Hometown Sect's path."
He gently hugged her, and her soft ears brushed against his cheek. The light tickle made him smile.
"Thank you, Brother Chuan," Xiao Wu whispered.
Yan and Xie Yue quietly turned away, giving them a moment. Soon after, Huliena arrived.
Due to past events, Yan didn't have a particularly good impression of Huliena, but he didn't respond with hostility. She had already learned to adapt and stayed quietly beside Xie Yue, her gaze meaningful and hard to read.
"Brother, I don't know what I did wrong, but I want to change. Can you stop being so distant from me?" Huliena's eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Xie Yue sighed gently. "Just remember this: you must never betray Spirit Hall, and never betray Lord Pope. That's all that matters."
"I understand, Brother. But before you leave, can I hug you one more time?" Huliena asked. Though she didn't fully understand his earlier words, she trusted him.
Xie Yue hesitated briefly, then sighed and embraced her.
"I won't disappoint you, Brother," Huliena promised.
With the farewells concluded, Qian Ren Chuan and his companions prepared to depart—only to spot the approaching Shrek Seven.
The Shrek Seven immediately noticed them as well.
Ma Hongjun's eyes widened in shock. "It's… it's you!"
Qian Ren Chuan recognized the Shrek Seven at once, smiling. This would be a final chance for a little friendly rivalry before they left.
Tang San's eyes went red as he saw Qian Ren Chuan's companions, including Xiao Wu. The fact that Xiao Wu had taken over a previously rival body enraged him.
"Damn it, Qian Ren Chuan! You dare show up here?"
The Shrek Seven, feeling confident, circled Qian Ren Chuan and his six companions. They had Tang San, a Soul Emperor; three Soul Kings; and three Soul Lords. They assumed the numerical and strength advantage would be overwhelming.
Tang San stepped forward, each movement deliberate, six spirit rings glowing around him. "This time, I'll make you pay for the humiliation you've caused me in the past!"
Qian Ren Chuan, calm and composed, replied, "The last time, I only fought because you provoked me. If you hadn't caused trouble, I wouldn't have acted."
Dai Mubai clenched his teeth, recalling his first injury and determined to prove his current strength.
Even with the Shrek Seven's confidence and numerical advantage, Qian Ren Chuan's group remained undeterred. Their composure and resolve showed that they were ready for whatever came next.
