Chapter 35 - The Cliché Route of the Protagonist and His Brides

Throughout his life, Danilo had messed up a lot. Mistakes that had led him into extremely embarrassing situations. But none of them came close to this moment. There was even a case where he spoke badly about a famous person to a stranger, not knowing that the stranger was the parent of that famous person. But this situation, where everyone heard his thoughts—the most ambitious and vile ones—was, by far, the most embarrassing.

When God created man, knowing his corrupt nature, He created thoughts as a kind of secret box, one that only the owner holds the key to. It seems there are beings who possess master keys, beings who can invade everyone else's treasure, good, humble people who only want the best for the world.

There are situations in life where you find yourself trapped at a crossroads, and the decision must be made on the spot. And Danilo was in this situation. Either he would lower his head in embarrassment, wait for whatever these elders decided, and when the time ran out, go home and never see these people again, carrying this memory as one of the most humiliating in his life, hoping to forget it one day and never think of it again. Or he could go all out and turn on the "screw it" mode. And that's what he did. He turned on the "screw it" mode.

So, my thoughts were heard. Thoughts should be private. I didn't command anyone to listen. I didn't take a piece of anyone. They were just innocent intentions from a naive boy. It's not my fault. You know what, they should blame the beautiful and charming lady in white. Who, obviously, is as beautiful as the other ladies.

After thinking these words, everyone, without exception, rolled their eyes.

Nzinga Otchali once again renewed her previous disdain. At first, she was startled by Danilo's transformation. He changed right before her eyes. Changed so much that now she felt an oppressive aura emanating from him.

The murderous intent he had unleashed earlier was so terrifying that she thought she wouldn't survive it. It had left her terrified. But now she realized that the human trash, even though he had become more powerful, ultimately is someone who bends to the will of the strong. So disdain replaced fear.

— HAHAHAHAHAHA! Kid, you're interesting. — said Adam. — Worthy of being my descendant.

And those others heard his thoughts? Who ordered them to listen? I liked that phrase. Now I know how to respond to certain people who don't respect others' privacy. He continued to look at Danilo with pride and admiration.

— For such a shameless response, it could only come from a human, worthy of being a descendant of Adam and Eve — said the Corsican woman, looking at Adam and Eve. Eve lowered her head in embarrassment, as if wanting to disappear from there.

— But what you said, or thought, isn't entirely wrong. — the woman continued in a grave voice. — With the power you currently possess, you are far from being an ordinary person. And your destiny has already been decided. The path you will walk will be full of blood, massacre, and death will follow you. But you will also have the Father's blessing.

— With the two powers the Father gave you, you became what you said earlier. You became the law. Your destiny has already been decided.

— If it were before the mark, I would have been apprehensive and concerned about you because of the curse. — The woman paused, evaluating him. — But now that you have the mark, I feel relieved. I don't know what will happen. Because never in history have two of the Father's marks come together. Especially the mark of punishment and the mark of judgment.

— We pray that the Left Arm's luck is strong enough to nullify the curse surrounding the First Blade. Because one of the consequences is that the curse always affects those closest to the user, turning them into emotionless monsters, without attachments.

— As you said earlier, the Divine Domain has just arrived on Earth. — the woman continued, her voice grave and measured. — So you must create your power, create people loyal to you. Your mother has a Chaotic Heart. The Chaotic Heart has never had more than one descendant in history, due to its peculiar nature.

— But you are more than one, and I believe this is because the Divine Domain hasn't yet arrived on your planet. There was a gap.

— Your clan will need powerful people, and your descendants must be strong. For this to happen, you must unite with talented women. And we, as your elders, cannot leave you without help. Each of us has talented descendants, spread across the Divine Domain, across all the floors.

— This way, the patriarchs will receive a new sign, and when they see you, they will treat you with respect. Making your path smoother. Of course, if they want. If not, don't worry — she said, her tone measured and cold. — Too bad for them and their daughters. Everything will depend on your conquering skills.

— And also — she added, looking at him seriously — I don't even know if they still hold us in their hearts as their ancestors, because the heart is changeable, and the time we have spent here, in the Upper Neutral Zone, is so long that greed may have clouded their judgment, making us, the old, only useful in name — needed only for our titles, not for ourselves.

— If by chance you encounter this situation, you have our permission to eliminate these people. We don't need ingrates, especially among descendants.

— That's all we can do for you. We cannot help directly, but with our influence, you will have a smoother path.

As soon as the Corsican woman finished speaking, Danilo was stunned.

— Let me see if I understood what you said… — he cleared his throat, trying to maintain composure. — You said that, throughout the Divine Domain, across the floors, I will have brides waiting for me…

Beauties waiting for the master to go and claim… — he completed in thought, a slight mischievous glint in his eyes.

— Yes, that is exactly what I said — replied the Corsican woman, this time without beating around the bush. — I believe you are an intelligent person. If we said we do this out of love and care for you, we would be insulting your intelligence.

— You may think so now, but sooner or later you will understand. What we are doing, deep down, is taking care of our descendants.

She crossed her arms, and the air around seemed heavier.

— Whenever a mark is obtained, it means the end of an era. And the end of an era never comes accompanied by a beautiful sunset over the mountains… but by enormous piles of corpses.

The Corsican woman paused and stared into the void, as if recalling ancient tragedies.

— Races have been completely wiped out. Many of the elders here, in the Upper Neutral Zone, are the last of their own races. Their descendants were not as powerful, nor as talented as they were.

— During conflicts on the lower floors, many perished due to lack of strength… lack of luck… or simply because they provoked someone powerful and cruel enough to wipe out an entire lineage.

She sighed deeply.

— That's why we are taking care of our descendants. We may be powerful, but our heirs may not be.

— Hence an alliance with you. Everyone benefits. You create a powerful force, loyal people to you… and we prevent the end of our races.

Her gaze returned to Danilo, serious and heavy.

— Because, from what I see this time, things will get really ugly. Much worse than anything we have encountered before… because of the two marks you carry.

Danilo reflected after hearing what the women said and found it fair. Alliances through marriage work, especially with the holy maidens of sacred lands as brides or the gorgeous princesses of certain countries — all together in his harem.

And, to be honest, he was worried. The powers he received, especially the Primordial Sword… the aura it emanated was malevolent. He knew — he would be an enemy of the world.

The left arm. Who has never… the left arm. Who has never heard rumors of God's Left Arm? It is always the one that brings divine judgment.

And he remembered Thomas Cale. God's Left Arm. Paul Hoffman. The destiny of these people is always solitude. They do the dirty work. End up with no one. In silence. Alone.

He began to regret it. Not for having received power, but for having accepted it. Because a person becomes powerful precisely to escape the fate of being controlled by others — to avoid the impotence of having no strength to resist.

But, from what he understood there… the Game Master was God.

How could one escape that?

Danilo was frightened.
