Although her efficiency was a fair bit lower than Andrew's, her sharp, fierce movements proved that her strength as the leader of the Sons of Calydon
was no joke.
But what Andrew was focused on now was something else, something much more important.
As her shield bash concluded, Andrew felt an energy envelop his body, ultimately forming
an effect similar to a Brace Jewel.
And unlike a Brace Jewel, this effect wasn't limited to just friendly attacks.
He gently pressed his skin and felt a hard resistance push back. The greatest function of this thing
was actually a shield that could block damage!
To put it plainly, it was like activating an incredibly powerful super armor effect through damage absorption, and not
only that, it also acted as a damage-tanking shield.
It was just a bit on the weak side. If this were a real hunt, he figured any proper dragon could probably shatter
this shield with a single swipe.
Andrew carefully assessed his physical state and even felt his strength increase by a
little.
It was a shame Andrew wasn't a Great Sword user, otherwise he'd probably be clinging to Caesar's leg, begging to form a hunting party with her for
life.
Putting aside everything else, if a Hunter's Sword and Shield had this kind of ability, it would probably become the most
popular weapon for team play.
It could supplement damage, tank on the front lines, boost attack power, grant teammates super armor to prevent flinching, and
even give them a shield.
All of that rolled into one package... The basic assessment was: the god-tier support for every other Hunter in the party.
Even a lone-wolf Long Sword main wouldn't be able to refuse such a perfect teammate.
This world, with its all-purpose Ether, was indeed far more versatile in its methods than the world of a simple
Hunter.
The only real shame was that the general power level was a bit low. But as long as he understood the method of use, if he were to unleash it using the Dragon Element energy from the Monster Hunter
world, its power could definitely be increased dramatically.
As the battle ended, Caesar returned to her normal state from her combat stance.
When she turned and saw Andrew looking at her with such intensity, the heat rushed back to her face. The cool, heroic Caesar once
again became a little flustered and soft.
However, the interruption from the fight had allowed Caesar to recover quite a bit, so she didn't fall back into a state of her brain
completely short-circuiting.
Even though her face was still bright red, it no longer affected her ability to act.
Caesar held "Veni" and "Vidi" in her hands and walked a little timidly over to Andrew, only to
look up and see him staring at her with that same intense gaze.
For a moment, Caesar felt a little panicked.
"I-Is something wrong?"
Realizing his staring was a bit rude, Andrew coughed lightly and averted his gaze, but he couldn't stop himself from asking curiously about this unique
way of using energy:
"Caesar, how exactly do you create a shield like that? Is it a talent? Or do you just release the energy directly?"
Faced with Andrew's question, Caesar scratched her head, seemingly confused as to why he would even ask such a thing, but
she began to explain anyway.
But before she started, she grabbed the tire-shaped decoration surrounding the wild boar head on her shield
.
It was unclear whether Caesar pressed some mechanism on the shield, or if it could just transform on its own.
With a series of contractions and shifts, the shield "Vidi" on Caesar's left arm transformed into a uniquely shaped
sphere.
This transformation, which frankly violated the laws of physics, truly began to challenge Andrew's understanding of the world.
As a Hunter whose weapons were fundamentally grounded in reality, he'd never seen such flashy Ether tricks.
Nicole's weapon being a transformable cannon was understandable, but how did this shield of yours manage a full-on Transformer-style
conversion?
Caesar first shook the shield that had now become an Audio Engine, then handed it to Andrew and said:
"This here's my treasure. Big Boss had to repair it for me countless times before it got this
sturdy."
Speaking of her weapon, Caesar's expression swelled with pride.
"Right now, it can be a weapon, a shield, a wheel, and even a lamp! And most importantly,
it's a top-of-the-line Audio Engine that can also be used as an electric fan when it's hot!"
Andrew hesitantly took the very distinctive-looking object.
To be honest, this was the first time he'd ever seen an Audio Engine.
But it made sense. As support personnel, Wise and Belle weren't that familiar with Audio Engines, and since Andrew had never mentioned it,
Nicole was completely in the dark about the matter.
The result was that Andrew only found out that New Eridu even had these things now that he was out with Caesar.
But Caesar was unaware of the brainstorm happening in Andrew's head. She continued:
"Using the Rushing Fang, a defensive-type Audio Engine, allows me to manipulate Ether energy to do all that stuff from before.
And all sorts of Audio Engines are a huge help in converting Ether into various common elemental
energies."
Hearing this, Andrew roughly understood.
This Audio Engine was indispensable for converting Ether into a shield. If he could figure out the operational logic of this thing,
he might really be able to create gear that could complement Hunter weapons.
When he eventually returned, the survivability of Hunters could be massively improved. He might even be able to give the Hunter's Guild
a little taste of the shock and awe of a fantasy world.
Resisting the urge to take it apart and study it right then and there, Andrew fiddled with the so-called Audio Engine for a moment
before handing it back to Caesar.
Watching the small object once again transform back into the shield on Caesar's left arm, Andrew couldn't help
but feel a sense of wonder.
Hardcore Ether-tech, who would've thought?
All he could say was, as expected of a fantasy world, it's full of flashy tricks.
When he later sees the transforming capabilities of the Senior Sister from Yunkui Summit's tiger claws, he'd probably sigh and say, 'Physics,
what's that?'
But as a former university student who had first crossed over to the New World, and then from the Forbidden Lands to New Eridu, his greatest strengths were his ability to learn quickly and adapt
fast.
This ability, which was like spatial folding, also made Andrew extremely envious.
He was already thinking about studying these things until he understood them, and then creating all sorts of compressible Hunter weapons.
With this tech, who would need to lug a weapon bigger than themselves around on a hunt, huffing and puffing all the way!
I'm looking at you, Great Sword users.
He had to admit, while the raw power of Ether energy wasn't as terrifying, the range of things it could do was truly
vast.
Their brief conversation over, the two once again set off on the path to find survivors and track down the boss Ethereal.
