CHAPTER 7. FROM A GALA CHARITY EVENTS TO A DINNER PARTY

Emily Cooper POV'

I didn't how or when but right now...

I was standing in Christopher's grand kitchen, surrounded by sleek marble countertops and sparkling crystal chandeliers, a pang of nostalgia washed over me like a warm embrace.

The soft glow of the evening lights casting a golden ambiance made me feel like I was stepping back into a familiar dream.

A maid, looked up from arranging a platter of succulent strawberries and cream, her bright green eyes sparkling like emeralds behind a curtain of thick lashes.

Her long, dark brown hair was neatly tied up in a sleek bun, revealing a heart-shaped face

with high cheekbones and a smattering of light freckles across the bridge of her nose.

A crisp white uniform hugged her curves, complete with a black apron and a name tag that read "Isabella" in elegant script.

She flashed a warm, genuine smile my way, and I felt my cheeks flush softly as I smiled back, feeling a little shy and out of place amidst such opulence.

Isabella's heels clicked on the marble floor as she walked towards me, her hips swaying gently with each step.

"Can I help you with something, miss?" she asked, her voice smooth and polite, like honey dripping from a spoon.

I nodded, still feeling a little awkward in the grand space.

"Yeah, I was just looking for something to eat. My stomach's been growling all day, and the smell of food is driving me crazy!"

Isabella chuckled, a rich, throaty sound that put me at ease.

"Well, you've come to the right place! We've got all sorts of food prepared for tonight's dinner party. Mr. and Mrs. Hollen spared no expense for their son's celebration – what's your pleasure, miss? We have beef Wellington, roasted vegetables, quiche Lorraine, and even some delicious-looking chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert!"

She gestured towards the spread, and my eyes widened as I took in the feast.

Platters of finger foods, trays of hors d'oeuvres, and even a few cakes and pastries adorned the countertops, making my mouth water in anticipation.

Isabella noticed my gaze and laughed again.

"We've got a lot of options tonight! Mr. and Mrs. Hollen really know how to throw a party. Would you like me to make you a plate, or would you rather serve yourself, miss?"

I scanned the kitchen again, my stomach growling at the sight of the quiches.

"Mmm, I'll just grab a couple of those mini quiches, please – they look amazing!"

Isabella smiled and reached for a delicate china plate.

"Excellent choice! We made them fresh this morning. Would you like any fruit or cheese to go along with that, miss?"

I shook my head, my eyes fixed on the quiches as she placed two on the plate.

"No, thanks – just the quiches are perfect. I'll just grab a drink and head to the garden... it's so beautiful tonight with all the lights."

I didn't want to get her in trouble, if by any chance this food...you know weren't for guest.

Middle-class like me and our mindsets.

Isabella nodded, handing me the plate.

"Yes, it's lovely! If you need anything else, just give me a shout. I'll be in here prepping for dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Hollen are expecting around fifty guests tonight, so it's going to be a busy evening!"

I nodded, the Hollen were the most busiest family I'd ever met.

From a sprawling gala charity events, to a dinner party.

They surely swim in riches.
