Above Bleecker Street in New York, within the Mirror Dimension created by Kaecilius, Tony Stark, Captain America, Ant-Man, Nick Fury, and Dr. Bruce Banner — the Hulk — stood on a floating building, all of them looking shaken yet relieved.
Nick Fury had originally intended to use Tony and the others to achieve his goal, but instead he suffered heavy losses.
Almost all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents he brought were killed, and one was captured and controlled by a Sentry.
If the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj hadn't appeared, Nick Fury would have faced total annihilation.
Compared to Fury's dark expression, the four Avengers from the future looked much calmer. Having dealt with the future Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, they understood well how powerful Kamar-Taj's magic was.
"Cool. Even though this isn't the first time I've seen Kamar-Taj magic, I still have to say — it's really unscientific."
Tony Stark glanced at the floating buildings. The Mirror Dimension reflected the real world, but in this space, the buildings could move and rotate freely.
Above Tony's head, entire skyscrapers hung upside down.
"Are you sorcerers from Kamar-Taj? Did Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme, send you here?"
As the moral center of the Avengers, Captain America remained calm. He didn't know Baron Mordo or Kaecilius, but he definitely recognized Wong. The moment he saw Wong, Captain America assumed Doctor Strange must have sent them to rescue the team.
Peng.
But as soon as Captain America spoke, Baron Mordo's expression darkened. He drew a circle with his right hand, formed a magic whip, and lashed Captain America away with a single strike.
"The name of Sorcerer Supreme is not Doctor Strange. Maybe you'll meet a Kamar-Taj sorcerer in the future, but remember — there is only one Sorcerer Supreme, and that is the Ancient One."
Baron Mordo's gaze was cold. He didn't know Sorcerer Supreme Strange at all, and although he could imagine such a person might exist in the future, he would never acknowledge him.
"Cough… cough…"
Baron Mordo had only given Captain America a small punishment. If he had used his true technique — the Life Tribunal Scepter magic — even the Super Soldier physique would not have protected Captain America from grievous injury.
"Baron Mordo, I'm sorry. We didn't mean to disrespect the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One. I apologize on behalf of my friend."
Dr. Banner walked over, helped Captain America up, and bowed slightly to Baron Mordo. Tony and the others exchanged confused looks but didn't interrupt.
"Hmph. If I hear the name Sorcerer Supreme Strange again, I'll let you taste my Dimensional Confinement magic."
Baron Mordo's expression remained icy.
He recognized only one Sorcerer Supreme — the Ancient One.
He was certain he would one day inherit that title.
Hearing Captain America mention Strange had genuinely angered him.
Humm—
As Baron Mordo dismissed the magic whip, a blue glow appeared overhead. Through the glow, countless Sentry units poured into the Mirror Dimension.
"Baron Mordo, that metal robot has invaded."
Kaecilius raised both hands, forming twin magic circles. The buildings in the Mirror Dimension roared and shifted. Structures twisted and rolled like massive serpents of stone, crashing toward the Sentries above.
Crunch—
Even Sentries couldn't withstand the crushing assault and retreated. But above New York, there was not just one Sentry. Another hovered in the sky, its single eye flashing with data as it directly pierced the dimensional boundary.
"Life Tribunal Scepter."
Energy of the Dimensional Arts surged. A scepter-shaped weapon formed in Baron Mordo's hands — the Scepter of the Living Tribunal. He gripped it tightly and swung downward.
The Sentry was flung away like a bowling pin.
Peng! Peng! Peng!
The machine crashed through over a dozen buildings. The Living Tribunal Scepter judged living beings, but Sentries were machines — so the attack did little lasting damage.
"Master Mordo, these… there are more and more Sentries."
Seeing rings of blue wormhole-like portals opening around the Mirror Dimension, Wong grew tense. He quickly interlocked his hands and began forming a massive shield.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Before the Sentries themselves even emerged, volleys of energy blasts shot through the portals, hammering Wong's shield. Cracks spread rapidly through the glowing barrier. Sweat dripped down Wong's face.
"Sentries… fine. I'll remember."
Baron Mordo raised his right hand. Energy coursed through the Living Tribunal Scepter and sparks flickered at its tip. He opened a space gate with a sharp gesture.
"Dimensional Stretch."
A magic circle spun into existence in his left hand. Waves of dimensional energy poured into it.
The circle rotated counterclockwise — and the Mirror Dimension stretched violently.
The wormholes that were seconds away from overwhelming them now appeared hundreds of kilometers distant.
"Let's go. I'll take you to meet the Sorcerer Supreme."
Baron Mordo put away the scepter and stepped through the space gate. Kaecilius followed immediately. Wong remained only a moment longer, giving Tony and the others a polite nod.
"Okay… I've wanted to visit Kamar-Taj for a long time. But Sorcerer Supreme Ancient One… has anyone here heard of that name?"
Tony looked from face to face. He ignored Ant-Man entirely and focused instead on Captain America, Nick Fury, and finally Dr. Banner.
"Dr. Banner, I think you'd better explain."
Tony had already noticed Banner's unusual behavior — especially how casually he had spoken Baron Mordo's name. Tony Stark didn't overlook details like that.
"Well… guys, ever since I saw Allens, a lot of information has been rushing into my head."
"Listen, Tony. I know you're confused, but what I want to tell you is… you gave me that information yourself — before you died."
"Information about the future. About the past. About Allens."
Banner's words made Tony, Captain America, and Ant-Man exchange stunned looks.
But Nick Fury ignored them all and walked directly into the portal.
After all — for Nick Fury, the future's history was no mystery to begin with.
