Chapter 12 - Episode: 3 [The Reunion - End]

Like an entire mountain compacted in a small body, it plummeted onto the gigantic monster. The sheer blow from the small Jin dispersed the liquid layers like a bomb exploding, the upper part of the monster's body exploded, and the bits shattered, flung here and there on the ground and on buildings.

Amberok was completely exposed; he cursed under his breath as the Jin grabbed him by his throat. He flailed his legs and arms, trying to free himself. But the firm grip was too much for his weak self.

"Le---Let go of me, you bug!"

Irate, Amberok tried punching the Jin's wrist, and the thick metallic arm made a light sound and that was all. When Amberok looked at the Jin's face, his own face turned pale and he froze.

He was a boss monster, but before him. He felt a power far more perilous than his, capable of devastating the city with a flap of its wings.

"What's with the face?" The Jin, Clyseus White said.

Clyseus had a far more malicious look on his face; he wasn't a human. A demon king had come down himself to deal with Amberok.

Amberok's body was trembling; the lower part of the giant monster turned to the usual liquid and flew into the streets and roads, into the building, and into shops.

He couldn't control anything; the little control he had over the hum-slimes was gradually deadened.

[An outer player has invaded the 2nd Game of a different region!]

[A violation of a law.]

[A fleeting punishment has been inflicted on you.]

However, Clyseus didn't mind it. Being an invader might have its own side effects. But to him, the punishment was child's play. After all, he wasn't a weak Jin but rather a considerably powerful one.

Amberok was fighting to inhale air. His mind was a haze, mostly, suffering from the suffocation that had his mind an empty void except for fear and confusion.

Seeing the prey about to die, Clyseus winced, disappointed at how weak the monster was.

"The previous one had quite a bit of strength, but you... a fragile kid."

With a single hard squeeze, there was an explosion, and blood spattered on his face and body. Amberok's headless body plunged to the ground, with the head falling a meter away from the body.

[Hey you!]

Zaradus approached Clyseus cautiously. Dangerous Jin had appeared in the vicinity. Who ended it without effort?

[Which city you came flying from?]

Zaradus asked; he noticed the strange aura around the man. Meaning he had a guardian. Crospeyan could detect the people with guardians; it was one of their abilities.

Clyseus smiled and didn't hide the truth.

"New York City."

Zaradus wasn't sure if Mori had this city; from his information, it didn't. Meaning it was a city from a different country. He quickly contacted someone and asked about the information.

He was stunned, and his face told that well.

[You flew all the way here! And you already defeated the boss monster?]

This was absurd; not only had he defeated the boss monster in New York City without putting on a good show, but he also ruined this game as well.

This had made Zaradus furious; instead of looking at Clyseus, he looked down at one person who was looking back at him.

***

I was startled; hang on a second! Am I dreaming?

He is the Clyseus White... Clyseus White, my one and only friend. That's nonsense; I didn't want to believe it.

It was true that the character also had the same name as his, since I took it from him without him knowing. But this turning into reality is far more ridiculous.

Seeing my friend being a character that I didn't know.

Not only that, Clyseus White was supposed to be here from North Cotrica, not from New York.

For an unknown reason, I felt fretted. Even if he's my friend, I can't trust him. Not when he was this character. I hoped never to encounter him. He was the reason I wanted to end the second game as fast as I could.

Whilst this, Hum-slimes were cowering away.

I hurriedly turned to Maya and others, shouting at them.

"Get away from this place."

They didn't understand; the system panel had already told us the game had ended, and the thousands points were rewards to us. On top of that, a jin had saved them. Why should they run away?

But seeing how anxious I was.

Maya was the first to tell Joseph to run. Even though Canny insisted on staying, I shouted at him, rattling him.

With a thud, someone landed before me. I turned to face this person, knowing well. Clyseus White was standing, looking at me with his atrocious look.

I gulped down saliva and pivoted, looking at his face.

I smiled wryly and asked, "Clyseus... What an odd time for a reunion."

His odd smile was creeping me out. Finally, after a brief silence of a stare, he opened his mouth.

"Told you we will meet tomorrow." His eyes shifted, looking at the side of my head.

"And comrades... It's amusing seeing you with people, a man so isolated suddenly having friends."

His eyes had lost all of their whiteness, only dark color that even light couldn't penetrate, and his red irises scrutinized people behind me.

Even if he was my friend, it didn't change the fact that today, many people will die. And the killer of these people remained one person, Clyseus White. He was a strange character in my novel.

Even though I had full control over other characters. He was the only one who escaped the strings. Whenever I wrote his scenes, it was as if someone had taken over me and written those lines and, when they were done, given back the control.

I tilted my head, blocking his view.

He realized something and smiled.

"I have a brilliant idea." He said.

"We both will fight, and if I win, I kill those people behind you, and if you win, I spare them."

"Clyseus, come to your senses. What are you talking about? You should be saving people; we need each other to complete the games!"

I had to try to talk him out of it. If it works, I will avoid an unnecessary conflict with him. Who in their right mind will fight a monster-slayer?

Watchers and Zaradus, instead of being intrigued, were eerily silent.

"Huh, these noisy fools are quiet?" Clyseus said.

If it were someone else, maybe Zaradus or the watchers would have been killed right away. His existence would have perished before his own eyes. But... Clyseus White had the guts because he had the Guardian; no watcher wanted to fight against it.

[Watcher '???' is looking at his Vessel.]
