"Still angry?" Julian Fairchild lowered his head without a second thought and kissed her forehead.
Maeve Lane was actually just feeling a bit awkward, but since Julian had lowered his head, she wouldn't cause a fuss. Nonetheless, her dislike for Mila Miller grew a bit more.
It's fine if they come at her; she can remain unaffected, as she won't lose much either way. But whenever they target her man, just thinking about it makes Maeve's hands itch.
"Not angry." Maeve said sullenly, "I really want to hide you away, see where you'd go to attract admirers."
Julian pinched her nose and laughed, "Shouldn't I be saying this instead?"
"My admirers are nowhere near as many as yours?" Maeve retorted.
"Really? Let me count, you mentioned how many ex-boyfriends you have..." Julian elongated his tone, saying leisurely, "More than you can count on both hands."
