You can't just equate "taking a bullet for each other" with "deserting the battle" because they happen to rhyme, can you?
Sean was still a bit clueless about what was happening; he was having trouble thinking.

It was only then that Sean finally figured out why Gordon had that smooth series of reactions.
This time, instead of stopping at the bar, Summer circled around it to Sean's table.
"Are you OK?" The first thing Summer said was to ask if Sean was okay.
Was he OK?
Was he really okay, or profoundly not okay?
Sean understood why Gordon had to hide.
If Gordon were around, he'd definitely say, "With this handsome chap here, could he not be OK?"
