Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: She Deserves the Best

Cecilia Vaughn hurriedly pulled out her phone, glanced down, and saw that it was her friend Mona Summers calling!

Mona Summers was Cecilia Vaughn's best friend, a year older, known for her loyalty and straightforwardness.

Cecilia's early release from prison had caught her off guard, and she hadn't arranged her own schedule yet. She hadn't told her friend to avoid worrying her.

...

Evidently, Mona Summers now knew she was out!

Cecilia Vaughn felt somewhat guilty. As soon as she pressed the call button, an angry female voice exploded in her ear!

"Cecilia Vaughn, you bastard! You didn't even tell me about something as big as your release from prison!"

"If I hadn't decided on a whim to visit you and Officer Young hadn't told me you were released early, I probably would have been kept in the dark by you!"

"Do you even consider me a friend anymore?"

...

Mona Summers, in her anger, was practically shouting. Even without the speakerphone on, her voice was loud enough.

Not just Cecilia Vaughn, but even Adrian Law beside her heard every word.

The man suddenly raised an eyebrow at Cecilia Vaughn.

——Who would have thought Cecilia had such a fiery friend, their personalities were really different.

Faced with Adrian Law's silent teasing, Cecilia Vaughn felt a bit embarrassed, but soothing her friend was more important.

She parted her lips slightly with some guilt.

"Mona, I'm sorry, I didn't want you to worry about me."

"I planned to contact you after sorting some things out. I really didn't mean to hide it from you."

...

On the other end of the call, Mona Summers continued her complaints, and by the end, Cecilia could hear her sobbing over the phone.

"Cecilia, do you know, when I first heard you'd left the prison, I almost thought the Vaughn Family was behind it. I was so scared something had happened to you, you know?"

"I really want to see you, want to hug you right now. I don't want to see you only through iron bars every time."

Cecilia Vaughn felt a sharp pain in her nose, and a warm feeling surged in her heart.

"Okay, I'll come find you right away."

She, too, wanted to see Mona. Through those many dark days, if it hadn't been for Mona, she might not have made it to today.

...

She hung up the phone, and a cool male voice came from beside her.

"You're leaving now?"

Cecilia Vaughn looked apologetically at Adrian Law.

"Mr. Law, you heard it too. I really have urgent matters to attend to."

"What about the marriage registration?"

Cecilia looked at the time on her phone and shook her head apologetically.

"Going to the civil affairs bureau now seems a bit late. Perhaps we can wait until tomorrow?"

"Mr. Law, there's no rush for this. I also need to revise the marriage agreement, and once you agree, we can proceed."

The man hesitated for a moment, his phoenix eyes focused on the girl in front of him, his feelings remarkably complex,

"Alright... then we'll go to register tomorrow."

Cecilia Vaughn breathed a sigh of relief. She quickly gave Adrian Law her number and left in a hurry.

...

Adrian Law watched the girl's slender figure fade into the distance, restraining himself from chasing after her.

If he could, he wanted to take her to the civil affairs bureau right now.

But he was afraid of scaring her.

The man sighed softly, saved her phone number, and then summoned Wyatt Law.

...

"Young Master, is there something you need from me?"

Wyatt stood respectfully to the side, but his eyes sneakily glanced around, noticing Miss Vaughn was already gone.

Adrian Law thought of a few things, his eyebrows furrowed slightly as he spoke sharply.

"Wyatt, organize all the Vaughn Family's information from recent years for me, especially important events related to Cecilia Vaughn. Present it to me without missing a single detail."

Wyatt was momentarily stunned by the request.

"Young Master, do you mean... to investigate Miss Vaughn and her family?"

Seeing Adrian Law nod, Wyatt hesitated for a while but couldn't help but ask.

"Young Master, are you developing feelings for Miss Cecilia Vaughn?"

He had grown up in the Law Family, been by the young master's side for over a decade, and had never seen him so interested in anyone before.

Adrian Law, holding his coffee, stood up with a calm and undeniable expression.

"It's not about liking—"

Before Wyatt could relax, Adrian Law's next words dropped.

"From now on, she is Mrs. Law, my wife."

...

Bang——

The statement was like a bolt from the blue, almost making Wyatt's jaw drop in shock.

"Young Master, are you kidding?"

Wyatt was immediately anxious.

"You're well aware of her past with Tyson Law! It's impossible between you two!"

The Young Master had been without a female companion for so long; Wyatt was worried. But who was Cecilia Vaughn?!

Never mind her three years in prison, she was once destined to be the Young Master's sister-in-law! This relationship is incredibly complicated!

The Young Master should be avoiding suspicion the most!

...

"Nothing is impossible."

"Wyatt, I don't want to hear this from you a second time."

Adrian Law's voice was calm, but his long phoenix eyes revealed a hint of displeasure.

Wyatt had no choice but to close his mouth, genuinely puzzled, but he couldn't help but worry for his young master.

This was the first time he had seen Miss Vaughn, even if they were getting married, they should at least get to know each other better first.

Deciding so quickly, it's almost like a sham marriage, isn't it?

...

Possibly observing Wyatt's concern, Adrian Law gave him a reassuring look.

"Wyatt, I know you're worried, but since I was young, I've always known what I want."

"You've been by my side for so many years; you should understand that I'm the last person who needs others worrying about me."

True… who could ever outwit the young master.

Wyatt slightly relaxed at this, while Adrian Law seemed to recall something and suddenly asked.

"Wyatt, do you know which model of cell phone is currently popular with women, or suitable for them?"

"Ah? Young Master, why are you asking about this?"

"To select a good phone for her."

"..."

...

Adrian Law's mind drifted to the outdated phone Cecilia had just held.

Old and worn, clearly a model produced three or four years ago, long outdated…

She deserved the best of everything the world had to offer.

...

Upon learning Adrian Law intended to buy it for Miss Vaughn, Wyatt couldn't help but sigh helplessly.

Is there really such a thing as love at first sight in this world?

It took twenty-six years for the Young Master to open his heart, and now he's diving headfirst into love, like being beguiled!

...

Meanwhile, Cecilia Vaughn hurriedly hailed a cab and headed to the location Mona had mentioned.

Having spent three years in prison, Cecilia felt Stellerton had changed significantly; she didn't recognize many of the landmark buildings.

Just as she got out of the car, intending to call Mona to ask where she was.

But before she could even dial, she was engulfed in a hug!
