Lu Shinian slowly released her wrist and lowered his hand.
"Ruan Ruan."
He spoke, his voice hoarse.
"It's getting late, let's sleep."
He sighed softly.
How could Su Ruan sleep? With Lu Shinian acting so obviously strange, it would be odd if she could sleep.
"What's going on?" she asked, "Is there something troubling at the Military Department?"
Lu Shinian shook his head, "Nothing troubling."
Everything seemed very normal and natural.
He had just had a nightmare.
He embraced Su Ruan, lowered his head, and his voice was soft, almost just a whisper.
"Just a nightmare."
"Really?" Su Ruan pressed him.
"Yes." Lu Shinian replied softly, "Really."
"What kind of nightmare was so frightening?" Su Ruan asked curiously.
Lu Shinian's eyes lowered slightly, "I dreamed of my mother."
His voice was very, very light, almost inaudible.
"I dreamed of her disappearing in front of me."
The scarlet dyed the horizon, red and terrifying.
