Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: Silver Level Strength

The toppled shelves made this small supermarket look like a mess.

Snacks, drinks, and other items were strewn about the floor in disarray.

Lv Bai sat slumped beside the cash register, and the Eight-sided Han Sword had fallen at his feet when he was shot.

With one hand supporting himself on the ground and the other covering a wound that was gradually healing.

The blood that had previously seeped through his fingers had soaked his clothes, staining them a mottled red, making him appear rather pitiable.

Not to mention, there was an average-looking guy pointing a gun at his head.

Initially, Wu Ya was hiding behind the shelves, trembling with fear. Witnessing this scene, a surge of courage inexplicably welled up within her.

She couldn't help but shout, "Stop it... What do you think you're doing!? This is illegal!"

Her voice quivered uncontrollably, making it hard to say how much deterrent power her questioning really had.

"Oh right, killing is illegal."

The average-looking guy tilted his head, looked in Wu Ya's direction, and suddenly grinned, "Then why haven't you run away yet? Are you reminding me to take care of the witnesses?"

Upon hearing this, not only Wu Ya, but everyone including Ke Jianghao, felt their heart skip a beat.

Just then, a sharp whooshing sound pierced the air.

Thud~

An arm holding a gun fell to the ground, its cut so smooth that even the bones and muscles were discernible.

After striking out with his sword, Lv Bai finally raised his head slowly and said softly, "Then why did you dare come this close to me?"

Everything seemed to have happened too fast for the average-looking guy to process. He stared blankly at his arm on the ground.

"Ah... Ah! My hand!!"

Only when blood began gushing profusely from the severed surface of his arm did the average-looking guy let out an uncontrollable, heart-wrenching scream.

Niu's reaction was swift.

He realized the situation was bad, decisively aiming his gun at Lv Bai and started to empty the magazine.

But Lv Bai was prepared when he swung his sword, moving like a hunting leopard, exemplifying what it meant to move swiftly like a hare.

He slapped the ground with one hand, leapt up, avoided the first bullet, and grabbed the average-looking guy by the neck to use him as a human shield, then darted swiftly towards Niu like a phantom.

As they say, beyond seven steps, the gun is faster; within seven steps, fists are faster.

In a sense, this statement held true.

Speed is relative.

After all, Lv Bai didn't need to be faster than the bullet; he just needed to be faster than the opponent's ability to redirect the gun muzzle.

It's worth mentioning that Niu remained calm.

In the nick of time, instead of frantically shooting all the bullets, he chose to gamble and fired a shot at Wu Ya, since he couldn't be sure of hitting Lv Bai hidden behind the "human shield."

Being at a disadvantage due to the confined space, he could only bet that Lv Bai would save her.

If Lv Bai didn't save her, Niu would be helpless.

Though this all seemed lengthy when narrated, in reality, only a few seconds had passed since Lv Bai swung his sword, and already making quick decisions was a commendable feat.

Niu's gamble was partly right, but not entirely.

When Niu adjusted his aim, Lv Bai hurled the average-looking guy towards Niu.

Following this, he stomped heavily on the ground, vaulting forward, the force of which even created a network of fine cracks on the tiled floor.

Covering several meters in a blink, he swung his sword by feel.

The sword gleamed.

The reliable sharpness of the Eight-sided Han Sword severed Niu and the average-looking guy into two halves on the spot.

[Ding!]

Almost simultaneously, mechanical notification sounds echoed continuously in Lv Bai's mind.

...

"Do you know what you're saying?"

Ke Jianghao's eyes were filled with shock and absurdity, but mostly disbelief, forming a pie chart of emotions.

"Let me confirm again, you're saying you're not from this world? You came to this world just to kill each other? Are you an alien? ET?"

"I'm not joking." Lv Bai symbolically patted the cash register.

Everyone gathered around the cash register, their gazes occasionally drifting to the two corpses in front of the roller shutters before frantically averting their eyes.

Perhaps already vomited too much, seeing such bloody scenes now, their resistance to nausea seemed significantly improved, as even the two young girls just had slightly pale faces.

"It's not that I don't believe you."

Ke Jianghao swallowed, stating, "It's just that... today has really opened my eyes."

Tian Wang and Zheng Xiaoming exchanged glances,

Lv Bai squinted at him, "Do you believe now?"

Ke Jianghao didn't respond, but Wu Ya nodded slightly, "Putting aside the magical aspect, your explanation isn't completely unfathomable.

Anyway, if you were from our school, I definitely wouldn't have no impression at all."

Of course, Lv Bai's supernatural healing ability greatly added to the credibility of his claim.

Wu Ya, feeling the temperature on her face, added quietly, "This is your reason for insisting on leaving, isn't it?"

Lv Bai bent down and picked up a bottle of cola from the ground, "Sort of."

Hiss!

Bubbles of carbon dioxide streamed out from the bottle cap.

After the foam subsided somewhat, Lv Bai took a sip, "If I stay with you all the time, it won't be safe for you guys."

That's a fact.

Before the duo arrived, the system had once published the distribution positions of the Death Fighters, and at that time, no indication of any nearby Death Fighters was shown on the radar.

The duo clearly came with the published location, explicitly to hunt Lv Bai, only to end up biting the dust themselves.

Typically, two Death Fighters with guns dealing with a single isolated Death Fighter should be a sure win.

Though Lv Bai wasn't sure how large a proportion of the Death Fighters these "hunter-style players" comprised, it couldn't be a negligible number.

Besides, from the three Death Fighters Lv Bai had encountered, he had formed his own judgment about the strength of Silver Level abilities.

In his view, Silver Level abilities ought to have some association with Supernatural Powers while also having significant limitations or weaknesses.

This is colloquially known as high potential, low consistency.

At the right moment, a Silver Level ability could potentially be stronger than a Golden Level ability.

His Golden Level Super-speed Regeneration actually had the advantage of consistent performance.

But if a Death Fighter sniped him from afar with a headshot, resuscitation wouldn't even be necessary, no matter how stable it is.

So, if he underestimated other Death Fighters because of his Golden Level ability, he might suffer a great loss.

With this realization, Lv Bai felt he couldn't stay in one place for too long.

He needed to leave the store.

And go kill all the other Death Fighters!
