Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

"Well, Ultron just wiped everything we had on his shutdown protocols along with everything to do with J.A.R.V.I.S," Tony grumbled, falling back into his seat as the other Avengers stared at him. "What?"

"Don't 'what' us, Tony. Your little AI almost eradicated the entirety of New York and everything around it with your Arc Reactor," Natasha spoke with a frown, to which the genius just rolled his eyes.

"Hey, we're still breathing, aren't you?"

"Only to the efforts of a speedster that we thought to be a HYDRA agent," Steve replied, a disappointed look in his eyes. "Every time someone tries to prevent a war, innocent lives pay the price and that would have been the outcome today had Pietro not taken the bomb away."

"We sure we can even trust the guy? No one feel that it's slightly suspicious for the speedster to appear as a nuke is activated inside the city?"

"You really don't know how to take accountability, don't you?" Clint asked with a shake of his head, Tony glancing at them all before letting out a groan.

"Okay. I'll admit that I messed up with the murder AI. That's on me, but in my defence-"

"The AI just tried to nuke the city. Kind of hard to have an 'in my defence' for that."

"Hey, you helped me on that one."

"I didn't help. I got dragged into a brainstorming session and then you decided to go full Frankenstein for a moment when I stepped out for a cup of coffee."

"Semantics, Bruce," Tony responded, to which Bruce let out a sigh as Natasha continued to stare at him with a frown.

"Tony, people could have died. You need to do better than this."

"I did do better! All we needed was-" Before he could continue, a gust of wind pushed through the room. Everyone was on guard before they relaxed as Pietro sat down, the silver-haired man just staring at Tony.

"Look who it is. If it isn't the silver sp-"

"I don't have time for your games, Stark," Pietro cut him off, sitting down while crossing his arms with a sigh. "I just had to help the TVA fight against a time-travelling speedster while making sure that our universe didn't collapse upon itself."

"...What?"

"Your nuke caused a fissure in the fixed point on the space-time continuum that our universe rests upon. I had to run around it at my top speed and isolate it with vibrations. In doing so, though, I ripped about fifty universes to atoms and nearly caused the destruction of our own had I not been pulled away."

"...Anyone understand what he just said?" Clint asked, Natasha shrugging in response as Steve's brows furrowed in confusion.

"So, you're...you're telling me that the multiverse exists?" Bruce asked, his eyes wide as Pietro nodded with a sigh.

"Impossible. For that to the case, we...would have to exist on the same plane at different frequencies. That's how you destroyed so many universes.

You had to vibrate the pure energy of the explosion throughout many universes and in doing so, you also amplified the explosion tremendously with the kinetic energy forged by your vibrations."

"I didn't come here for you to explain to me what I did, man. Do you know where your Ultron monster is?" Pietro asked, groaning as Tony smirked and shrugged in response.

"Why is he smiling? Why are you smiling, Tony?" Natasha aasked and Tony snickered as he spun his seat.

"Because the multiverse is real. You know how much I can make off of this? Kid, what's say you join Stark Industries as our dimension-hopping roller-coaster?"

"...Stark, have you ever been kicked at the speed of light?"

"No, can't say I have."

"Would you like to experience it? The pain is severe, but only for a moment," Pietro added and Tony gave a nervous smile as silver electricity sparked around Pietro's body.

"N-Nah, I think I'm good."

"Glad to hear it. Now, we're going to have figure out a way to kill Ultron or at least shut him down so that he can't do something like this again."

"Kind of hard to do considering he's wiped his presence from our network and destroyed the only thing that can find him."

"Okay, so if J.A.R.V.I.S. is gone, then why not try and find fragments of him that he most likely scattered out throughout the internet?"

"...What makes you think he would do that?"

"You telling me you didn't design him with failsafe protocols just in case something like this happened?"

"I did have a few implemented, but how did you know about them? Have you been snooping around?"

"No, I just figured Tony Stark wouldn't be so stupid as to not have them," Pietro replied, rolling his eyes as Stark just hummed with an accusatory stare.

"Right~Sure you did."

"Anyway, with you doing that, I'm also going to warn you of the nuclear hotzone just off the south-easter coast of Alaska."

"What's there?"

"It's the spot where the Arc Reactor exploded. The energy is gone, but the radiation is still there so watch out for that," Pietro replied before standing up with a grunt. Cracking his back, he raised an eyebrow at the hand held out to him.

"You didn't need to, but thank you for what you did," Steve spoke with a thankful smile, Pietro staring at the hand before he smiled and shook it.

"It was my pleasure. That and if I could this over Stark's head, I would happily do it again."

"Of course, that's your motivation," Tony grumbled, but the man was more distracted with his computer as he rapidly shifted between coding programs in front of him.

"Well, he's going to be busy for a while. I'm gonna go and enjoy America while I'm here."

"You have a way we could contact you just in case?" Natasha asked and Pietro just held out a piece of paper that had three numbers on it.

"All three are connected to burner phones. Once you call all three, I'll give you three new numbers."

"Will do," she nodded before raising an eyebrow as Pietro gave her a glance. "What?"

"...Just gonna come out and say it. You're hot. Banner, you're a lucky guy."

"W-What?" Bruce stuttered, but the speedster was done with his teasing as he vanished, the Avengers staring at the spot where he stood before Clint turned to Natasha with a smirk.

"You and Bruce got something you guys wanna say to us?"

"I will stab your arrows up your ass."

"Hahahaha! No need to feel embarrassed by your relationship, female spider! You and Banner fit well together!" Steve chuckled at Thor's words as he watched the tension in the room fade away.

"You need a moment of silence to work, Tony?"

"No, background noises of people's relationships works wonders," Tony answered sarcastically, rolling his eyes when Steve just smirked and sat down on a chair beside him.

"Good, because we're not done talking about why you thought it was a good idea to mess with Loki's sceptre."

"Oh, kill me now."

"One of every shawarma?" The cashier asked and I nodded with an excited grin.

"Yep, and if you serve fries on the side, XL serving please. I'm willing to pay double for it."

"...You know what, I can't deny someone that enthusiastic for our food," he spoke with a smirk and I chuckled, paying for the food before grinning as the food was ready within just a few minutes.

'Aw man, I haven't eaten one in so god damn long,' I thought with an excited smile as I sat down, reaching for the classic chicken one first.

"You know, for someone who's supposed to be in your supposed Kamar-Taj by now, you tend to take your time," A voice spoke up from my side, making me turn to stare at the dark-skinned man standing beside me.

His hands was in his long brown coat and the single eyepatch he wore over his left eye told me his identity as I raised an eyebrow.

"I like to explore, Mr. Fury," I replied, to which Nick Fury just hummed as he sat down in front of me.

"And I'm guessing you're also going to run around the world before heading back to your precious Kamar-Taj in...Nepal? Kathmandu, right?"

"Yeah, I suspected you knew of it," I murmured, still continuing my shawarma as I stared down the master spy.

"Mr. Fury, I do not pry into your life and you do not pry into mine. Does that sound fair?"

"Oh? What would you have on me?"

"Jack Fury, Katherine Fury and...Varra, was it? No, Priscilla Davis. That's the one, right?" I asked, finishing off my chicken shawarma while staring at Fury's frown with a smirk. "I did tell you. You don't pry into my life and I don't pry into yours."

"What else do you know?"

"I know where the Winter Soldier is at this current moment...probably. I know where you can find a shit ton more vibranium. I know...a lot of things, Nicholas Joseph Fury. I just don't like using said knowledge."

"It appears so. Very well, no more prying," Nick Fury said with a shrug, raising an eyebrow as I held the beef shawarma out to him. "Give me the falafel one."

"Sure. So, what are you doing here?" I asked, opening the beef one before nodding with a pleased smile at the savoury taste that flooded my mouth when I bit into it.

Nick Fury took a bite of his own before he responded, "What, a motherfucker can't come and thank the guy that saved New York from getting turned into a crater?"

"Well, you're also the motherfucker that used to be in charge of the greatest spy agency in the world. Forgive me if I'm not exactly calm around you."

"If you were, I wouldn't have stayed for as long as I did," Fury replied, making me chuckle as I swatted his hands away from my chips. "Shawarma is cool, but you ain't taking my fresh fries."

"French fries, you mean?"

"Nope. Fresh fries. Shout out the Belgians," I replied, raising a fry to the guy that got me into shawarma in my past life. Oh, how I'll miss you, Shelbyscanada, even though I never got to eat there.

"You are beginning to piss me off with your stupid antics, kid."

"Yet, you're still sitting here. So, that means your need for my help and curiosity outweighs the irritation."

"I don't get irritated."

"Sure, grandpa," I replied with a smirk, chuckling as Fury rolled his eye before reaching into his coat.

He then raised an eyebrow as I just continued eating, raising an eyebrow back at him. "You not going to be on guard?"

"Before you can pull the trigger, I can run around New York, finish my food, beat the shit out of you and still have time to dodge the bullet."

"...Shit, that's true. Anyway, here you go," he answered, making me stare at the file that was put in front of me. "For the past month, we've been detecting vicious storms rampaging around the Hawaiian islands.

We have no clue what the storms are made of, but what we do now is that the storms last only thirty seconds at most and all that touch it are petrified alive."

I frowned as I skimmed through the file, narrowing my eyes at the statue-like appearance of hundreds of peoples.

"What do the storms look like?"

"Blue Gatorade with clouds that look more like weed clouds."

"The effects of the storm?"

"Petrification as shown."

"No. I mean like, is there anything else that happens afterwards?"

"Sounds like you know what the storms are," Fury replied with a narrowed eye, Pietro glancing at the man before shaking his head as he closed the file.

"I don't. I just expected it to be another HYDRA ploy to use what they studied from the Mind Stone to make more Enhanced like my sister and I."

"HYDRA is gone."

"Sure, they are. We both know HYDRA is far too tenacious to go out just like that."

"You know, for a guy that wasn't there long, you sure know a lot."

"You're prying, Fury," I replied, crossing my arms as the spy shrugged.

"Just making sure to ask all the questions. Now, should-" Before he could continue, I felt a disturbance in the vibrations to our left.

Turning my head as the air popped, Fury turned as well and we both stared at the two figures that appeared in the middle of the busy street.

One was a brown bulldog the size of a rhino, its slobber dripping onto the floor as it looked around.

The second was much more appealing to look at, her skin shimmering under the sun as she was dressed in a form-fitting beige dress that hugged her slender yet curvaceous form.

Her dark blonde hair bordering on a light ginger to her upper back and her blue eyes looked around before they focused on me. The world around me dimmed out as I held her gaze, the vibrations around her feeling soothing yet confident at the same time.

"Fury, I got something to do."

"Oi, don't you-" In the blink of an eye, I was outside, standing with my hands in my jacket pockets in front of the woman. Holding up my hands as she jumped back in surprise, I smiled as the dog stood in front of her and let out a menacing growl.

"Hey, not going to harm her, okay? You two just appeared in the middle of the city and that's causing a disturbance," I replied, gesturing to the people that had already taken out their phones and began recording.

I guess the primitive crowd-following mind of mankind never fades away no matter the universe.

'Still, I wish I had watched the Inhumans series because I have no fucking clue why she's here.'

"Quicksilver."

"Not my name," I replied, turning to Fury as he walked out of the shop with a scoff.

"It is now. You need to get them out of here before something stupid happens with the police," he replied and I could hear the sirens in the distance.

With a nod, I dashed to Fury and vanished, racing him halfway across the city before putting him in a park.

Racing back and stopping beside the woman, I grabbed her and raced away once more, this time taking her across the world and stopping in the middle of Kamar-Taj's courtyard.

Moving back in the same second, I grimaced as I stopped in front of the giant dog, reaching under him before pushing off the ground with a growl.

My body strained under the weight as I placed the dog on my upper back and shoulders, taking another deep breath before taking off.

The trip was much slower, but still way too fast as I stopped beside the woman, placing the giant dog down before sitting down to catch my breath.

A chuckle escaped my lips as she jumped when the world finally sped up, her eyes flickering between the many sorcerers who paused in their tracks.

"Guest, everyone," I called out and the woman blinked when a collective exasperated groan came from the people before they continued with whatever they were busy with.

"Like I said, just here to help. Also, that dog can stand to lose a few," I spoke, ignoring the dog's offended growl while staring at the woman. "Oh, forgot to say. I'm Pietro Maximoff, student to Kamar-Taj, though not really. I'm more of a slacker."

"Good to see you know what you are," I heard Kaecilius speak up, turning my head with a smirk as the man stood behind me with his hands behind his back.

"I do. What are you doing here?"

"Mordo is helping your sister and your little companions seal away the Mind Stone at a secure location. Given that I am the highest-ranking master on Kamar-Taj's grounds with Mordo away, that means I am allowed to be wherever I please."

"Cool. Why are you here specifically, though?"

"I didn't know this specific area of Kamar-Taj belonged to you."

"It does. Can't you see over-" I drawled out my words as I lunged to the side, immediately engraving a phrase with my name into the ground before moving back to my old position, "-there?"

This area belongs to Pietro Maximoffo. Kaecilus not allowed. Go away, you party pooper.

Kaecilius stared at the engraving and back at me, to which I just grinned and waved.

"Bye~"

"The Ancient One will hear of this."

"Sure, go and tell Aria, you tattle-tale," I spoke with a scoff, waiting until he left before turning back to my two guests.

"So, what's your names?"

"Is your attention span really low?"

"It is," I replied with a serious nod before smirking, the woman letting out a giggle as the dog relaxed.

"I see. I am Crystal, princess of Attilan. This is my family's royal dog, Lockjaw and what you saw earlier today was his doing."

"The teleporting?" I asked, letting out an impressed hum as she nodded. "Cool. Also, did you know that Crystal is a pretty common stripper name here on Earth?"

"Are you saying I am one of these...strippers, was it?" she asked and the dangerous tone just made me laugh as I shook my head.

"No, I'm just saying that using that name will lead to more problems down the line. Therefore, you should use a name like...Christene or Chrissy."

"Christelda," Crystal nodded and I stared at her before shrugging at the response with a smile.

"Sure, if that makes you feel better. Now, why don't you tell me why you guys are on Earht and not at...Attilan? Is that where you said you're from?" I asked, paying attention as Crystal sighed before nodding.

"Yes, it is located on your planet's moon, which I do not believe will be there for long."

"Why is that?"

"In a week's time, the Kree, the Skrulls and the Shi'ar are to meet on your moon to discuss the planet's future going forward," her words made me give a slow blink before I palmed my face with a sigh.

Well, it's stopping one world-ender and diving into another.
