Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

The battle was over.

An eerie silence settled over the jungle. The deafening roars of the monster had vanished, and the explosions had faded into memory. Only the sound of heavy breathing echoed through the shattered forest. Broken trees lay scattered across the battlefield, and the smell of smoke and blood filled the air. The enormous beast lay motionless on the ground, its lifeless body stretching across the ruined earth. Everyone stood frozen, unable to believe they had actually survived.

As they watched, the mysterious steel blade that had pierced the monster's head began to dissolve into dark, shadow-like energy. Within seconds, it disappeared completely, leaving no trace behind.

No one spoke.

Finally, Karan let out a long breath and broke the silence.

"...It's finally over."

His words snapped everyone back to reality.

One after another, the exhausted survivors sat down wherever they could. Some leaned against broken trees while others simply collapsed onto the ground, too tired to move.

Ravi wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a nervous laugh.

"Haaah... That fight was really terrifying."

Manan nodded weakly.

"Yeah... We were about to die."

Li Wei looked at the dead monster and shook his head.

"If that mysterious person hadn't stepped in... none of us would be standing here."

Aditya managed a tired smile.

"Whatever happened... we survived. That's what matters."

For a brief moment, relief spread through the group.

But it didn't last.

As everyone looked around the battlefield, the reality of what they had endured became painfully clear. Some members of the group quietly cried in relief. Others sat in complete silence, unable to process the horrors they had witnessed. A few simply stared blankly at the monster's corpse, their minds still trapped in the battle.

Then Javier suddenly looked around.

"...Where are Abhimanyu and Aarav?"

The question sent a chill through everyone.

Their eyes immediately searched the battlefield.

A few meters away, near a pile of shattered rocks, they found them.

Aarav's unconscious body was trapped beneath several large stones. Not far from him, Aanya sat on the ground, holding Abhimanyu in her lap. Meera and Leonard stood beside her, their expressions unusually serious.

Without saying another word, everyone rushed toward them.

As they go closer, their footsteps slowed... then stopped completely.

No one could believe what they were seeing.

Abhimanyu's body was soaked in blood. His clothes had been torn apart by the monster's attack, and the entire left side of his back looked as though it had burst open from the impact. His skin was ripped, several bones were visibly fractured beneath the flesh, and blood continued to stain the ground beneath him.

It was horrifying.

The only thing proving he is still alive was the faint rise and fall of his chest.

"He... he's still breathing..." Leonard whispered. "But barely."

Silence fell over the group.

Aanya gently lifted Abhimanyu's head, her trembling hands instantly becoming stained with his blood.

"Hey..." she whispered. "Open your eyes."

There was no response.

Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Why would you do something so stupid?"

Her voice trembled uncontrollably.

"You always act like you have to protect everyone..."

She tightened her grip on his hand.

"What am I supposed to do if you don't wake up?"

Her tears fell onto his face.

"So don't you dare leave me."

She lowered her forehead against his.

"Please... Come back."

No one had the courage to interrupt her.

Meera quietly watched the scene unfold. Although her face remained calm, she couldn't hide the surprise in her eyes. She had never seen Aanya this vulnerable before. The desperation in her voice, the fear in her eyes, and the way she refused to let go of Abhimanyu told Meera everything she needed to know. Still, she remained silent. This wasn't the time to say anything.

Aditya finally stepped forward.

"We can't stay here."

Everyone looked at him.

"The noise from the battle and the smell of blood will attract more monsters. We need to move to a safer place."

The group silently agreed.

Javier walked over to Aarav and carefully lifted him onto his back.

"I'll carry Aarav."

Aditya knelt beside Abhimanyu and carefully picked him up, trying not to worsen his injuries. Aanya immediately walked beside him, refusing to leave Abhimanyu's side even for a moment.

Before they could leave, Meera quickly examined Aarav's injuries.

She looked up with a worried expression.

"His life isn't in danger..."

Everyone sighed in relief.

"His left arm has suffered severe damage."

"I don't know if he'll ever regain full use of it."

The group fell silent again.

There was nothing they could do except keep moving.

Just as they were about to leave, Mateo suddenly called out.

"Wait."

Everyone turned toward him.

"What happened?" Ravi asked.

Mateo pointed toward the dead monster.

"When that blade pierced its head... did anyone take the blue bead?"

The group exchanged confused looks.

"No we didn't. We weren't thinking about it."

Mateo nodded.

"I'll get it."

He walked back to the monster's corpse. Near its shattered head lay the small blue bead. The single glowing line etched across its surface had become little dim. Mateo picked it up and slipped it into his pocket before returning to the group.

"Let's go."

Together, the survivors disappeared deeper into the jungle in search of shelter, leaving behind the battlefield where they had come frighteningly close to death.

Hidden high among the thick branches of an ancient tree, a lone figure watched them leave.

Mason.

He had remained silent throughout the entire battle.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"One arrow..."

His eyes shifted from the dead monster to the retreating group.

"...Two prizes."

He chuckled quietly.

"The beast is dead... and they've unknowingly taken exactly what I wanted."

Without another sound, Mason melted into the shadows and silently followed them through the jungle.

By the time evening arrived, the group had traveled deep into the jungle and finally found a place safe enough to rest. A gigantic ancient tree stood in the middle of a small clearing, its massive roots rising from the ground like natural walls. The thick canopy above blocked most of the sky, making the place difficult to notice from a distance.

"We'll stop here for the night," Aditya said.

Everyone immediately began working despite their exhaustion. Ravi, Manan, Karan, and Leonard gathered fallen branches and built a small campfire while Javier and Li Wei cut thick bushes and arranged them around the camp, forming a natural barrier to hide the light of the fire from wandering monsters. Yuna and Hana collected fresh water from a nearby stream, while Meera searched for medicinal herbs to treat the injured.

At the center of the camp, Aanya never left Abhimanyu's side.

She sat quietly beneath the giant tree, gently supporting his head in her lap. Meera and Leonard had already cleaned his wounds and wrapped them tightly with bandages made from torn clothes and medicinal leaves. The bleeding had finally stopped, but his condition hadn't improved at all. His breathing remained weak, and his body felt frighteningly cold.

The entire group gathered around him.

No one spoke for a long time.

Finally, Aditya broke the silence.

"...How is he?"

Meera slowly lowered her head.

"I've done everything I can."

She looked at Abhimanyu with worried eyes.

"The bleeding has stopped... but the damage inside his body is far too severe."

Her voice became quieter.

"I honestly don't know if he'll survive."

Her words struck everyone like another devastating blow.

The campfire crackled softly, but no one looked at it anymore.

They had already witnessed one friend die.

Ethan's brutal death still haunted every single one of them.

No one wanted to lose another.

Ravi forced a smile, trying to lift everyone's spirits.

"Come on, guys..."

He laughed awkwardly.

"Knowing Abhimanyu, he'll probably wake up tomorrow and complain that we're all making too much noise."

No one laughed.

The silence only became heavier.

Even Ravi slowly lowered his head.

"Yeah... I guess that wasn't funny."

At that moment, Javier noticed something strange.

His eyes shifted toward Mateo.

Mateo was helping build the fence around the camp, carrying heavy logs as though he hadn't fought a life-or-death battle only hours earlier.

Javier frowned.

"Mateo."

Mateo looked over.

"Hm?"

Ravi tilted his head.

"No, you tell us."

Mateo blinked in confusion.

"What?"

Li Wei stepped forward.

"You were badly injured during the fight too."

"And we were all exhausted."

"So..."

She looked Mateo up and down.

"How are you moving around like nothing happened?"

Mateo stopped walking.

Only then did he realize something.

"...You're right."

He looked down at himself.

"My body... It doesn't hurt anymore."

He flexed his arms.

"I actually feel... refreshed."

Everyone stared at him.

Mateo's expression suddenly changed.

"Wait."

He quickly searched through his pockets.

A few seconds later, he pulled out the small blue bead he had collected from the monster.

The dim blue line on its surface glowed faintly.

Mateo looked at it in disbelief.

"I think..."

He slowly raised the bead.

"This is the reason."

Everyone moved closer.

"I've been carrying this ever since we left the battlefield."

He looked around at the group.

"There's no other explanation."

Samar crossed his arms thoughtfully.

"So..."

"Are you saying this bead has healing abilities?"

Nobody answered.

The possibility left everyone speechless.

Leonard suddenly looked toward Abhimanyu.

"If simply carrying it helped Mateo recover..."

He paused.

"Then what if we place it directly on Abhimanyu?"

Everyone's eyes widened.

Ravi immediately nodded.

"That's actually a brilliant idea."

Aditya looked toward Meera.

"What do you think?"

She hesitated only for a moment.

"It's worth trying."

Behind the group, Mason watched everything.

The moment he heard their plan, the smile on his face disappeared.

"No..."

He frowned.

"No... this wasn't supposed to happen."

"If that boy recovers..."

His expression darkened.

"...Everything changes."

For the first time since the battle, Mason looked genuinely worried.

Yet he couldn't interfere.

Not now.

Not without exposing himself.

All he could do was watch.

Back at the camp, Leonard carefully knelt beside Abhimanyu. Mateo handed him the blue bead without hesitation.

"Be careful," Aanya said.

Leonard nodded.

Very gently, he placed the bead into Abhimanyu's injured hand.

Nothing happened.

The group waited anxiously.

One minute passed.

Then another.

Just as Ravi sighed in disappointment...

The bead suddenly emitted a brighter blue glow.

"...Look!"

Yuna exclaimed.

Everyone leaned forward.

Soft streams of blue energy slowly flowed out of the bead and entered Abhimanyu's body through his hand. The energy spread like glowing veins beneath his skin, traveling across his injured back and chest.

The horrifying wounds slowly began to close.

The swelling decreased.

The fractured bones shifted ever so slightly, mending themselves.

Even his breathing became steadier.

"It... it's working!" Hana cried.

Aanya covered her mouth with both hands, tears once again filling her eyes.

"Abhimanyu..."

A faint smile appeared on Meera's face.

"I've never seen anything like this."

At that moment, Aarav slowly reached out with his injured left hand and touched Abhimanyu's arm.

Almost instantly, a small stream of blue energy flowed into Aarav as well.

His eyes widened.

"...What?"

He slowly clenched his fingers.

The unbearable pain faded almost completely.

Although his arm still felt stiff and weak, he could move it again.

"It's healing me too..."

Everyone stared in amazement.

The camp, which had been drowning in despair only moments earlier, was now filled with hope.

Laughter finally returned.

Ravi threw both hands into the air.

"I knew our leader wasn't leaving us that easily!"

This time...

Everyone laughed.

For the first time since the battle, genuine smiles appeared on their faces.

They spent the next few minutes celebrating quietly, careful not to waste their remaining strength. Hope had returned to the camp.

One by one, the group settled down to sleep, taking turns keeping watch through the night.

Aanya remained beside Abhimanyu until sleep finally claimed her as well, her hand still tightly holding his.

Above them, the stars slowly appeared through the gaps in the giant tree's branches.

The jungle was quiet once again.

But this time...

It was no longer the silence of despair.

It was the silence of hope.
