Chapter 23 - The fragments of a forgotten war act 1

Chapter 23

It was silence no, not really silence but something beyond silence.

Where am I ? am I dead?

Renji found himself adrift in a distant void, a place stripped of form, stripped of light, stripped even of the concept of distance itself. He tried to breathe, yet realized there was no breath. He tried to move, but there was no weight, no ground beneath his feet, only an endless suspension, as though he had been cast into the space between existence and non existence

His voice cracked the darkness.

"...Where am I?"

.........

The sound did not vanish. It echoed, folding back on itself endlessly as each syllable multiplied, dragged further and further until it became null

And his own voice was no longer recognizable.

Every word bounced around him, distorted, as though mocking him.

Renji's chest tightened. He wrapped his arms around himself and shivered, though there was no cold.

Then, as though a veil had been lifted, the place he was shifted

Rumble, rumble, rumble!!!

Fragments. Shards of something vast and ancient tore open before his eyes each fragment shimmered with fire and blood, , showing him glimpses of a war that should never have been remembered.

what? What is going on Renji's pupils trembled

Above him, a sky shattered into burning light. A battlefield stretched far beyond comprehension, not of earth or soil, but of collapsing stars and falling constellations.

galaxies were being crushed into sparks as if they were fragile glass, used as mere stones in the conflict.

And in that battlefield six beings of divinity

they were not human, they could never be mistaken for human.

Their presence was so colossal that the fragments of space bent beneath their weight. They radiated not just light, but authority, concepts and dominion.

One towered with armor of obsidian and flames licking his shoulders, his spear dragging behind him leaving tears in reality itself.

Meanwhile another was there but it was cloaked in silver feathers, spread wings that blotted out suns, his gaze sharp enough to pierce eternity. A third wielded an endless chain, its links wrapping and binding fragments of broken stars, crushing them as though disciplining the cosmos itself.

What is this !! What is happening Renji screams as tears filled his eyes

He could not comprehend them because his mind burned as he looked.

The other three were no less overwhelming. One woman, hair flowing like rivers of molten gold, wept as she swung a blade the size of a mountain.

This beings were just giants they were collosal each of them could easily eclipse an entire universe

This was their true form !

Another sat on nothing, chanting words that made Renji's bones ache as though time itself was being rewritten. And the last… the last was faceless, a shifting silhouette of storms, whose presence alone cracked the very fragments Renji was witnessing through.

These six godly beings… they were not fighting each other.

They were united in their rage, their power crashing together not against themselves, but against something else.

Renji squinted, his heart pounding. At first, he thought it was a shadow with no clear form. But then, it moved. Flames roared, not the flames of stars or suns, but something deeper, something primeval. The flames were alive, bleeding across creation, bending even the gods' authority.

It was the flame of destruction

The figure's outline flickered in and out. Sometimes it looked like a man, other times like a beast, sometimes like something beyond either. A sword? No, a claw? Renji couldn't tell. The aura was so suffocating that even the collosal gods staggered under its pressure.

The six fought desperately. Their weapons tore through time, and the fabric of existence melting billions of diverse dimensions and universes in their war

their chants shattered constellations, their screams bent the laws of Olympia. Yet no matter how much they struck, the flames consumed their efforts, laughing, roaring, pushing them back into despair.

Renji stumbled backward though there was no ground to stumble on. His throat went dry.

What… is this?

What am I seeing?

The fragments flickered faster, flashes of brutality imprinting themselves into his skull. One god fell, his silver feathers burning into black ash. Another screamed as the flaming aura tore her body in half. The faceless storm split apart into a thousand cries before vanishing into nothingness.

Renji clutched his head. His ears rang. His eyes watered. He couldn't he couldn't watch anymore.

And then

The being in the flames stopped.

For the first time, its head turned. The movements were slow, deliberate, yet with each fraction of its gaze shifting toward him, Renji felt the void quiver, as though the abyss itself bowed to its will.

The blurred face aligned with him.

Renji froze. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't even blink. The gaze locked onto him, cutting deeper than any blade. Cold. Absolute.

The figure's lips moved. As It erupted inside him.

"WAKE UP."

It wasn't a statement it was a commandment

"WAKE UP!"

"Ahhhh" renji screamed and his eyes flew open.

The room was dim. The scent of wood, cloth, and faint herbs filled his lungs. He gasped, clutching at his chest, sweat soaking through his shirt. His breath came in ragged pulls, like a man drowning in air.

Beside him, two figures recoiled in fright.

"Renji!!"

It was Choji, his eyes wide, his face pale. He had been sitting nearby, and now he reached forward in panic but stopped midway, unsure if touching him would make it worse.

"Big brother!" Lily's voice cracked with tears. Her small hands gripped the blanket covering him, her body trembling. "What's wrong?! Tell me what's wrong!!"

But Renji barely heard them. His eyes darted across the room, unfocused, searching for something that wasn't there.

Gasp Gasp Gasp

The fragments still burned behind his eyelids. He still saw feathers falling into fire. He still heard the echo of gods screaming. He still felt that cold gaze pressing into his soul.

His lips moved. His throat was dry, but words scraped out nonetheless.

"...What… was that…?"

"Renji?" Choji leaned closer but heavy sweat running down Renji forehead. As he gasped for breath

Renji didn't answer. He couldn't. His fingers dug into the couch beneath him. The world around him felt like a fragile shell, ready to collapse at any moment. He pressed a hand to his face, but the trembling wouldn't stop.

What did I see?

Who… were they?

What were they

The questions rang louder than Choji's desperate calls or Lily's sobs.

Renji what's going on talk to me please choji asks in desperation

But Renji's heart pounded .. His skin burned

what was that he asked ??

And though he sat in Takeda's apartment, though the aura that had once erupted from him was gone, Renji knew with a deep certainty

That wasnt normal It almost felt like it was a memory.

And it was his.
