Chapter 81

In his previous lives—at least those he remembered in the abstract—the "Diary Games" usually devolved into a chaotic brawl where a group of girls with magical journals competed to monopolize the protagonist. However, because Renji Miyauchi was obsessed with staying in the shadows, those girls never managed to pin him down. Eventually, they just stopped looking.

Renji felt it was far better to keep them active internally. If they were busy competing with each other, they wouldn't have time to stare at him.

After finishing the latest entry for the "Senior" group, he immediately began fanning the flames in his second, separate Diary interface, which was linked to the new batch of girls. He instigated them to become "Interceptors"—encouraging them to steal the high-value commissions of their predecessors.

He didn't name names, but he dropped hints about activity zones. He suggested they lurk near specific landmarks to "poach" rewards while maintaining total anonymity.

The reason Renji knew this was possible was because of Miwa Kasumi.

The First Interceptor: Miwa Kasumi

To be honest, Renji hadn't initially known the difference between the two batches of diaries. He had planned to test the mechanics slowly. But then Miwa Kasumi arrived in Tokyo by Shinkansen that afternoon.

Miwa was a "kind-hearted" person—so kind that she spent her entire train ride muttering to her Diary. Because Renji held the Master Diary, he could sense her presence the moment she stepped within a 200-kilometer radius of him. Once she entered the Tokyo urban area, the signal became a beacon.

Toyosaki Academy's location was a strategic blessing; while not in the absolute "prime" center, it was close enough that Miwa was constantly within 15 kilometers of him. Through her persistent muttering, Renji quickly pieced together her identity and mission.

A fangirl of Satoru Gojo and a student of Kyoto Jujutsu High.

Renji recognized her immediately. In his previous life's memories of Jujutsu Kaisen, Miwa was one of the few characters whose logic remained grounded in the ordinary world. Unfortunately, her strength was... lacking. She was a Grade 3 or 4 Cursed Spirit Master at best. Even her "Simple Domain" was more of a defensive tool than a win condition.

The moment Miwa approached Shuchiin Academy, Renji noticed a shift. Her Diary automatically "intercepted" Kaguya Shinomiya's A+ rank commission—a task Kaguya had seen but hadn't yet officially accepted.

In the gray Diary interface, Renji informed the new girls about this "poaching" mechanic. He watched as Miwa, staring at her screen, fell into a moral dilemma.

Miwa's sense of justice was simple. She knew the shrine mentioned in the commission was absorbing innocent souls to sustain itself. As an exorcist, she wanted to stop it. But she also realized that an A+ commission meant a Grade 1 Curse—something far beyond her league. More importantly, she felt guilty about "stealing" from a senior.

After much deliberation, Miwa decided she would simply report the shrine to the Jujutsu High command after finishing her official task.

"Neither of us can complete it anyway, so it shouldn't hurt that 'senior,' right?" she reasoned.

She was naive. She didn't know about the dark corners of the Jujutsu World, nor did she realize that certain areas, like Mihana Town, were regarded by the hidden world as unregulated dumping grounds for vengeful spirits.

She waited at the gates of Shuchiin, clutching a photo given to her by her principal. She was looking for a cold-faced, black-haired girl: Kaguya Shinomiya.

Miwa felt out of place. A year ago, she was an ordinary girl; now she was waiting to scout the daughter of a super-conglomerate. When Kaguya finally walked out with a pink-haired girl (Chika Fujiwara), Miwa was surprised. Kaguya looked approachable, even gentle, as she chatted with her friend.

However, Miwa's "Simple Domain" training gave her a sharp perception of energy. She didn't sense Cursed Energy (which is negative) from Kaguya; instead, she felt a vigorous, overflowing Life Energy (positive).

Generally, only strong adult athletes possessed such vitality. Kaguya was petite, yet her life force was booming.

"It seems I'll have a junior soon," Miwa thought.

Life energy and Cursed Energy were complementary. Strong physical health nourished the soul, allowing it to accommodate more Cursed Energy over time. Kaguya was a diamond in the rough.

But Miwa had underestimated the Shinomiya House. She was a stranger lurking near the gates with a long, sword-shaped package. The professional bodyguards had spotted her immediately. When she pulled out the photo of Kaguya, they reported her to Ai Hayasaka.

Hayasaka, knowing Kaguya had recently met a strange group of "online friends," assumed this was one of them. She relayed the information to Kaguya, who invited the girl to her car.

The meeting was tense. Miwa had tried to slip away with superhuman speed, only to be blocked by elite bodyguards who had seen real combat. She followed their instructions, half-doubting, and climbed into the luxury vehicle.

Sitting across from the legendary "Ice Queen," Miwa felt tiny. She had a sword permit from Jujutsu High, but she had never seen this level of mundane power. Even the great families of the Jujutsu world didn't live like this.

She showed her student ID and explained her purpose. Kaguya, seeing the Kyoto Jujutsu High credentials and a small flare of Cursed Energy, confirmed Miwa was the teacher her father had hired to introduce her to the "hidden world."

Kaguya remained stoic. She had heard of Jujutsu High from Shen Mu, but Shen Mu's connections were mostly in Shintoism. Now, she had a direct line to the world of the "strongest" exorcist mentioned in the Diary.

Miwa began explaining the physical signs of an Innate Technique awakening. Kaguya knew she hadn't awakened anything. Her vitality was the result of one month of Ripple Qigong training.

Thanks to her Reading Value bonuses, one month of training was equivalent to a year. Her skin was glowing, her speed had doubled, and even her bust had slightly increased—the "health-preserving" method recommended by the Mysterious Person was truly miraculous.

Kaguya decided to test the girl. She secretly pulled out her Diary.

Ordinary people couldn't see it. Even a spiritually diminished veteran like Shen Mu couldn't see it. But what about a Cursed Spirit Master?

Miwa noticed nothing. She continued talking, her eyes bright and honest.

Kaguya concluded that Miwa was not a "First Batch" holder. She couldn't yet determine if Miwa was a "Second Batch" holder, because the Diary's "mutual blocking" feature meant they wouldn't recognize each other's screens.

"Regardless," Kaguya thought, watching the earnest girl across from her, "she's a treasure trove of information. I'll squeeze every secret of the Jujutsu world out of her."
